1/8/2014 - UMBC GameDay

Recommended Posts

From CB on Twitter.."They thought no shake was after the game. It was supposed to be no shake after the anthem. Honest mistake. No hard feelings." ...

Maybe CB is just being diplomatic . . . as soon as it was over, it looked like UMBC guys were sort of milling around and not intending to leave right away, but the coach motioned to them to head toward the lockerroom . . . CB and that coach then talked a couple of minutes at mid-court, but it didn't look like there was any animosity involved -- when parting, CB even patted the coach on the back . . . I think the coach wanted to "disengage," as was noted, because of the emotions throughout the game and especially at the very end. I noticed that the player who fouled Puk was obviously upset and walked off the court and almost half way to the big doors at the end of the building -- one ref was watching him but, rightly so, didn't T him up . . . Tough loss for them.

In an ugly effort like last night it sometimes easy not to notice key contributions!!!!

I thought the 5 points Anders Haas gave us were significant (especially in a close game), he came off the bench and in 8 minutes got up six shots, which is asserting ones self.

I also thought we got solid play out of Levan in his 11 minutes in the 1st half while Puk was sitting with two fouls. He was a presence inside with 2 reb, a block and a steal and for the 1st time in awhile he didn't seem to have his shoulder brace on!

Foul shooting was super again - 23 of 27 with 1 miss an intentional miss by Puk on the last FT with .04 sec. According to ESPN stats we are now #2 in FT shooting in DI Hoop
