...Then Tom Wilkin lost my respect
UA'08 replied to GreatDanes06's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
It is what it is. No sense to keep getting frustrated with everything he writes. In the next line he writes..."However, if you like a team that just know how to win and always seems to find a way, park yourself in the Great Danes gym this winter". I don't mind him as much as I do the Times Union. You can't really cover a team if you don't travel with the team on road trips watching every game. Would you rather have Mark Singleas back because I remember when people on the board were ripping into him too when he covered UA in their championship years. -
Every win in OOC play will probably help come bracketbuster selection time.

Nope we were ranked the beginning of 2006-2007 season. How come no one rags on him when he posts incorrect info? Wilkin would get ripped apart if he wrote that. Not that I'm saying Wilkin does a good job covering the team because he obviously doesn't. It's more the coverage is bad everywhere. -

UA/Siena Game Future if No Changes

The way things are going at the SEFCU attendance wise I bet it will be a 50/50 split if it was played there. Our Athletic dept is either garbage or we just don't have fans. I'm still baffled on how we only drew only 2500. Whether it's the students or the locals someone needs to do their part. Coach's tweet the other day summed it all up when he said that people were tweeting him for tix on Saturday, but no tweets for Monday's game against Wagner. I just don't get it. Where are all these fans that show up for the football games during the fall? If the game were held at SEFCU first offer it to UA fans/students...as many that want to get in and then open the rest up. Trust me, if the news goes out that SEFCU is hosting this game...the students and casual UA supporters that wear purple to the TUC will scoop up most of the tickets. You give/reserve for Siena the customary 200 tickets or what not that most traveling programs get from their host. How would you offer it UA fans first? The season ticket holders would have theirs already and the rest would go on sale to the public and Siena fans would come in and just buy them all up. there are any number of ways to give Albany fans priority. 3 off the top of my head 1) mini plans with multiple games sold before individual tixs 2) season ticket holders are allowed to buy extra tickets for the LCC game in some ratio to the number of their season tickets in their account. 3) Albany alumni given a presale. They should have records as to who alumni are. All good ideas, but is are athletic department competent enough to come up with something like that or are they just worried about selling all the tickets. No offense to anyone that may work for the athletic department here. -

What fans - we avg 4,000 for 5 home football games all on Saturday. One was "Hall of Fame" day and one was "Homecoming" Basketball has had 2 Home games and is avg 2700 Remember football has about 70 guys suited up by each team for each game and the visitors travel better because all games are Saturday and there are limited chances to see their team play. Basketball suits up 12. As good as our FB is they should be avg 6-7,0000 easily I would say both FB and Bsk support is poor and leave it at that. I thought football was more, but I guess I'm wrong. Agreed then that fan support is not there for both. -

UA sold old it's portion of tickets?

His boot was off during the game tonight. He was in regular shoes. It will be interesting to see if he will red shirt or not. So far it looks like it's going to be an 8-9 man rotation with Rowley, Hooley, Devlin, and Evans coming off the bench. I feel for Devlin who went from starting two years ago and making the all-rookie team to getting only 11 min a game.

I wish coach could have just left it at "Mitch will be just fine" and leave it at that. I don't know how the interview went or what questions were asked, but why even bring up blogs and message boards. There was just no need. The team just won a tough game at home and you are answering questions about blogs and other teams coaches, wtf? Apparently to coach Brown, blog and message board posters have nothing better to do. Don't get me wrong, I think he is doing a good job this year, but that whole rant was unnecessary. And no I am not offended... I just have nothing better to do so I decided to post this

I have always been amazed at why we can't get more people in that arena. Sad.... There's no reason why we can't get 3,500 fans to the game. Make tickets in the GA $5. I just don't get it. A team 5-2 deserves better than that. How many more wins does this team need to get their fans excited enough to show up?????
