Have to admit, I'm not as sold on Flory as other people seem to be. I'm much more wait and see but I'll be happy to be wrong about him. To me, guys who already know our system have an advantage coming in so it wouldn't surprise me to see Clark and Healy in the back court. I thought Clark was as talented as anyone we put on the court last year so he was kind of a mystery.

The most telling thing was last year's game with 30 seconds left when Brown put Fruscio in the last minute of a somewhat tight game. It may not have meant anything but to me that said CB wanted to get the local guy in an Albany Cup game and he didn't think we'd be playing it again for a while. Just a guess.
-
He was a Juco freshman so he could have come if he qualified academically, which I think he did. It could be that he thinks another year will raise his recruiting stock. Who knows? It's interesting to see the recruiting conversation and who is most excited about guys coming in. I had higher expectations for de Sousa. Also, Reece Brooks Juco numbers are pretty crazy. We'll see how that translates.

I'm taking it as a good sign that five guys from Kendall Lauderdale's San Bernadino team have signed with D1 schools this spring. Lauderdale was second in scoring and second in rebounding.

Just reading the Belfast Classic site. It says there will be campus games leading up to the games in Belfast.

That's ancient history. The America East owns Virginia now...

We're playing them in Volleyball next year. I don't think we've played them for a while.

Happy to see we've offered another local player. Shane O'Dell from Schalmont has an Albany offer according to twitter. 6'4 guard.

Andy Katz on CB losing his top players to grad transfer. - https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-05-17/albanys-will-brown-wont-complain-about-losing-top-players

I'm much more wait and see on Flory. I'll be happy to be wrong if he's awesome. I could see either Brooks or Starks making a good first impression and Ahmad Clark sliding over to the shooting guard spot. Really, really would like a wing who can shoot. My hopes/ expectations for deSousa are probably unrealistically high but I'm hoping to see more of them than being the third SF.
-
I guess Flory is a SG and Starks is listed as a point. I'd guessed they would be looking for another big guy. Solid shooting numbers for Starks - just over 40% from 3 and 80% from the line. Preseason is going to be a battle which every position open.
-
I'm confused about Flory. I think we already have a commitment from Jeremiah Starks who is a nice looking guard.

Nova makes a lot of sense. Not too far from home and defending national champs. Hard to pass that up. They post up their guard a lot too which plays to his strength.
-
Also looks like we've offered Southern Illinois guard Winslow Martin II according to twitter.

Maybe. Denver seems to fare pretty well with the committee at least they have in the past. -

Going to look like an easy win for people who just see the score. Felt like a couple of hours in a dentist chair. -
Tuition is higher at Siena than Albany. If scholarship cost is part of the budget equation that's going to give their basketball budget a bigger number also.

Siena under investigation..

He did schedule quite a few guarantee games and I think if you're going to judge his overall record it's fair to consider it. In 2016-17 he opened the schedule with 9 straight road games including Minnesota, West Virginia, Iowa State, Michigan and Arkansas. That's going to play havoc with your overall win-loss record. The schedule the year before was similiar. Really, after the Patsos bumbling, this seems to be a better hire than they deserve. He's done what you'd want a coach to do at the low-mid major level and that's win and get to the tourney. -
Verbal Commits is reporting we've offered JUCO shooting guard Clayton Henry. Originally from Toronto. UAB and New Mexico state have also offered.

John Rothstein says he wouldn't have to sit a year.

My wife likes to say sports are basically soap operas for men. Have to agree with her on this one. -
Is WNYT and Roger Wyland creating "Fake" news?

Looks like a decent hire. He's already has a lost to Coach Brown. We beat MSM in the first four a few years ago. -

It seems like these coaching searches are opportunities for people to throw every name under the sun "into the mix." The Siena search seems like it has had everyone from Rick Pitino to James Naismith involved.
