  1. Yeah but could you score like them to be let back in? Offense isn't really my thing, so no. I'm more of a hard foul guy.
  2. I was to see David Nichols next year. Just as importantly, I was to see him and Joe have some scoring help. Lots of it.
  3. If it were a home game I would go and if it were a road game I will watch. The overtime game against Ohio a couple of years ago was actually an entertaining game. I'm probably not a good barometer though because I would watch practice if they let me. Like Jamar Wilson and David Nichols, I too have been thrown out of an Albany practice.
  4. Good point. As a season ticket holder with a parking pass, I didn't have to deal with the ticket lines, but I have heard lots of complaints about how to navigate your way into the arena when there is a line of people buying tickets, and how slow the ticket lines move. To give credit, the shuttle buses from the Dutch Lot seem to be a good idea as people use them. One of the downsides is when they arrive, a big group of people arrive at the ticket booth all at once. It would be awesome if they could have someone selling tickets on the bus with a portable device. Not sure how feasible that is. Not sure why they couldn't also sell tickets in the old gym to clear some of the congestion.
  5. That didn't take long. Aaron Calixte is leaving Maine. Redshirted a year so he will be eligible next season. We recruited him to some degree when he was in high school.
  6. Watching some of the MAAC tourney (Sorry Bob.) Their bracket is built to favor the higher seeds but almost backfired this year. They give the #1 and #2 seeds an extra day between the quarter finals and the semi finals while the #3 and #4 seeds play back to back days. Problem is, the top two seeds were upset so tonight the underdog lower seeds are playing on an extra day of rest. It almost knocked Iona out of the tourney.
  7. I didn't mean he was the Iati's long-lost brother but he was capable of keeping defenses honest with his shooting. It's no coincidence that we had our best recent conference finishes while he was here. His first year was the most complete team we've had in a while - shooters on the perimeter, good defender and a post scorer (Sam) with some firepower off the bench (Dallas and Wheeler Baker) and reserve big guys (Stire and Mike Rowley.) Some people were disappointed with our star players this year and questioned their leadership, etc while I was questioning why they didn't have more support. Maybe some of that issue was redshirting the Aussies. If that was a mistake, I'm glad it was a "mistake" made for the long-term health of the program. Kind of funny thinking about Hartford. They're 19-12 and 11-5 in conference and their fans are happy and their coach is getting an extension. We're 22-10 and 10-6 in conference and almost everyone here is aggravated.
  8. Switch a couple of security staff for people selling tickets instead.
  9. With Nichols and Campbell, I think one things leads to another. If SB doesn't have to guard Campbell, it puts more pressure on everyone else and allows them to double Travis with impunity. We've had good guards through the last six years (or more) but the SF spot has been the wild card in how our offense runs. If we have a SF who can defend and shoot, we've been great. If not, we've been good. 2012-13 PG - Black - shooter SG - Iati - shooter SF - Johnson - non-shooter Finish 4th 2013-14 PG - Evans - Shooter SG - Hooley - Shooter SF - Johnson - non-shooter Finish 4th 2014-15 PG - Singeltary - Shooter SG - Hooley - Shooter SF - Sanders - Shooter Finish 1st 2015-16 PG - Singletary - Shooter SG - Hooley - Shooter SF - Sanders - Shooter Finish 2nd 2016-17 PG - Nichols - Shooter SG - Cremo - Shooter SF - Campbell - Shooter. Benefit of the doubt. He was better at 33% Finish 3rd 2017-18 PG - Nichols - Shooter SG - Cremo - Shooter SF - Campbell - Non shooter Finish 4th
  10. Exactly. Our guys gave it their best. The more athletic team won. Had the refs not been so bad and our shooting not sub-40%, we would have won notwithstanding SB's athleticism.I thought that SB played an excellent perimeter defense tonight, which significantly contributed to our poor shooting we didnt get many quality/open looks. Even the threes we made they had a hand in our face.Playing perimeter defense is easy when you don't have to cover one of them. I think Brown and staff made two big mistakes this year. 1) redshirting all the Aussies 2) playing Campbell so much when he showed he was a huge offensive liability and made opposing defenses better and allowed them to double Charles more and close off lanes by playing off Campbell. Our defense was bad enough, how much worse could it get without Campbell. At one point he was 0-6 from the field and 1-4 from the line. That hurts......a lot. Wing was another position with zero depth... Zero... I agree with this. I also think it is a talent/recruiting issue. We haven't filled in the roster around Cremo and we were figured out this year in conference.
  11. With a couple exceptions, that looked like a team that didn't want to play Vermont one more time. Maybe that's a harsh but I couldn't get the thought out of my head during the game. Stony Brook was better prepared for us and played with more intensity. Joe Cremo is going to go down as one of our all-time great players but they haven't filled in around him very well. I hope next year is the exception to that.
  12. Yesh! Their tournament is turning out the way we hoped ours would. Upsets all over the place. That Rigoni kid again played well.
  13. Just watched Kent State and Akron. Good rivalry game. Akron fans wore shirts that said "Kent is not a state." Player dustup in the handshake line. It had it all. Tourney chances for our two OOC Maac opponents - Iona and Canisius. #1 seed Rider just went down in the quarter finals.
  14. Glad the women already made the trip up to Maine. Looks like they got there before the snow. Hopefully Bob did too.
  15. Watching Quinipiac beating Siena and was wondering why Rigoni's name was so familiar. Nice player who ended up at Q.
  16. First off, congrats to Travis and Joe. It's awesome to see Travis get the recognition. Joe has been so good for long, I almost take him for granted. I also think these awards are a product of preseason expectations. If Hartford were picked 2,3 or 4 in the preseason, there's no way Gallagher gets Coach of the Year for finishing third. The same applies to David. Expectations were really high at the beginning of the year (preseason all conference) and he struggled, especially early in the conference season. As UA08 posted, hopefully it's motivation for making the all tournament team.
  17. I agree...I can see both lose. Lowell just put up a 92 spot on UNH. Didn't realize Lowell has the #1 offense in the conference statistically. I wouldn't want to be going against Thomas in what could be his last game.
  18. Jamir redshirted last year to preserve a year of eligibility. That's why he didn't start in the senior game.
  19. Talent-wise I don't think Bing is the worst team in the conference. They have a couple of nice pieces but are pretty disjointed. Agree on Foster. He dominated tonight and can do that against most teams. Actually throught playing Costa at the same time made up for losing Travis' shooting ability. CB said he was going to play Devonte at the PF but I don't remember seeing that look. Conway looked OK but playing him against Ahearn is probably a best-case because Ahearn doesn't really score.
  20. I like the tweets from the Athletics Department about this year's senior class. Amazing four years for Stire to go from a walk-on to a starter who has improved each year. Noticed during the Maine game, from the free throw line: Stire 9-10 Cremo 7-10. Before he leaves, maybe Greig can give Joe some free throw lessons
  21. Not sure any of us really knows what happens in practice but it's not always rainbows and butterflies. To me, Nichols sat his freshman year without playing and didn't complain. His sophmore year, he came back from a difficult family time to set a program point record and lead his team to the championship game. In terms of academics and off the court community activity you couldn't ask for much more from a kid. Right or wrong, I'll be giving him the benefit of the doubt.
  22. Sad day to take those last season tickets out of the envelope. Just for the record, this isn't meaningless. We lost to them at Bing and need to restore order in the universe tonight.
  23. Agreed. I think if there's been a disappointment this year it's that we have a talented group of upperclassmen (Cremo, Nichols, Stire, Charles) but didn't build a supporting cast around them with sophs and freshman. Probably no coincidence that three of our most aggravating losses were @Monmouth, @Bing and @UMBC and all were at the end of multi-game road trips when we were probably worn down. Have to believe a little more depth would have helped us.
  24. Or play Devonte at the PF spot for some minutes with Costa, Nichols and Cremo. Would be an interesting look.
