  1. True, but Hartford has had over a week to prepare for us. They haven't played since last Saturday.
  2. Officiating was surreal. I don't know any other way to put it. Tough decision with Foster late in the game. He was a difference maker on defense for big stretches and I would have like to see him in late. For impartial viewers on ESPNU, that was probably a great game to watch. Not really worried about a Vermont rematch. I'm hoping this team can refocus on Hartford on Sunday. That was an emotional, draining loss and they only have a few days to put it behind them.
  3. There have been times when I've been away and it's been fun to come back and read the game threads. As bizarre as that sounds.
  4. Looks athletic, but JUCO defense is soooo bad. The good thing is that it looks like he turns 22 in early April. That means next year he will be 23 and 24 as a senior playing against 18,19,20 year olds. Unlike a lot of JUCO players, he seems to have had some international playing experience which can't hurt. Also, had an offer from Washington State.
  5. Verbal Commits says we've offered Yannis Mendy, a 6'8 juco PF. Mendy attends the same junior college, Missouri State, that Devonte Campbell did.
  6. Fun environment and I'll take the win. UNH isn't a great matchup for us. Camara looks like a first time all AE player against us. Had they shot anything from 3 it would have been a tight finish. All five starters played really well. Two points, two rebounds, two blocks, and one assist combined total from the bench. It is what it is at this point in the year. Terrific games by Nichols and Cremo. Did it look like Leissner threw a punch at Charles in the second half when he got injured? I was a little surprised they didn't review it. On second look, it wasn't a punch. In live action it looked like it but not on replay.
  7. Watching the UNH game. I think every point the Wildcats had in the 3rd quarter was from the free throw line.
  8. A week off and hopefully a team reset in terms of health, etc. Still alive for the #2 seed if we can play at a high level for multiple games. This would be a great way to start.
  9. And we beat them by 40...They have a hard time with teams like UA because we can at least get close to matching their guard play and they got nothing inside. I legit forgot that was win was vs UMBC UMBC is doing what we haven't been able to do so far this year, consistently beat teams. No offense to them and their new arena but I kind of want Vermont to bring their unbeaten streak into Sefcu next week.
  10. I'm guessing you mean this for the "Recruiting - 2018" thread since those will be next year's recruits. I think CB has talked about bringing in another 5th year senior.
  11. Have to admit, I thought JGIII might go to prep school somewhere his senior year but that's not the case. He's talking about playing football next fall and has some football scholarship offers as well.
  12. If it doesn't have those high-speed Dyson AB14-G Airblade PolycarbonateHand Dryers in the restrooms then they way overpaid. At least it has chairbacks.
  13. I've wondered that sometimes also although it's easy in hindsight. Watching Clark early in the year it seemed like we had some extra support in the backcourt and wouldn't need Healy this year. Hopefully in a few years when Healy, Hank and Lulka are redshirt seniors leading us into the sweet 16 we'll see the wisdom of this move.
  14. Glad to hear he's doing well. In an odd way, it's probably a good place for it to happen if it had to with all the medical staff around.
  15. Just so it gets mentioned. Greig Stire went 6-9 from the floor. He led us in points, rebounds, assists and steals.
  16. Hopefully there is no long-lasting hangover from Vermont. There is lots of room to move up in the standings if we can string some wins together.
  17. Not really sure how that wasn't a charge. Not sure how he could have been more set. It was the lucky 3 at the end of the shot clock that ended the game. I think that sequence went: Down 2 with Nichols going to line - missed free throw. On the other end, steal by Nichols, recovered by Duncan and then the duck-under three - down 5 Cremo to the line and misses - that's as close as we get.
  18. Even without Lamb, Vermont's frontcourt is bigger and more skilled than the rest of the conference. I don't know that there's any way to game plan around that. That's one of the reasons they're so consistent. I'm disappointed in this loss but Vermont is in the midst of a historic run right now and under 10% from three isn't going to beat them.
  19. This was a more extreme version of our games against them last year. We've been a tough matchup for them and Devonte does a nice job on Lyles. It seems like Foster gets hacked and shoved without it being called more than anyone. Maybe I just notice it more with him. When Clark plays well he really makes us tough. Nice drive by Fruscio but he should have gone for the dunk.
  20. Nice to see Greig Stire get some notice in the Gazette this weekend - https://dailygazette.com/article/2018/01/20/stire-starring-in-role-for-ualbany-men-s-basketball I tend to forget he was a walk-on his first year here. Looking at the conference stats, he's third in assist to turnover ration. Not something you'd expect from your starting center.
  21. We all aspire for bigger and better things. AE titles and tournament appearances are one of the things that help you build. How did any of the Albany programs become better? They won "meaningless" AE titles which helped get them better recuits, etc.
  22. Conway might have been in a boot it appeared. Actually thought Clark and Costa brought some intensity of D. Clark had a couple of steals but got out of control with the ball. We missed a bunch of layups at the rim. We had a big size advantage that got us some easy buckets. Wouldn't have been pretty without those and Cremo doing his thing.
  23. The home game against Vermont on Feb 8th will be televised on ESPNU.
