1. I think with Lillis and Wilson & Iati able to give us minutes at the point.

I would like to see a 6'6"/6'7" athletic foward who is a bigtime athletic rebounder and a slasher can take it strong to the hoop from the perimeter.

That's asking alot but with our recent surge - UA may be more attractive than in the past.

I would honestly hold it. If you bring in 5 guys in one year most of them will probably sit. In four years you’ll have 5 guys leaving your program, this would create a huge void. I like the thought of bringing in a number of quality players year in and year out. Every year 3 or 4 guys, that way the scholarship isn’t wasted sitting on the bench for 2 or 3 years.

  2. In my opinion I think he will hold out and use the scholarship next year. He already has a solid class coming in (4 guys), and if he uses it this year then it won’t be available next year. Next year we only have two guys graduating so he’ll need that 3rd scholarship to bring in a solid class. That way there is more balance from year to year, with guys coming and going.

  3. Will people be able to stand on the top leve of the RACC?  I think there is a maximum capacity but i bet people would pay to stand to watch this one.

I was listening to Murph's show yesterday and he had the UAlbany guy in charge of the box office on. He made it very clear that there will not be any standing room tickets sold, due to fire code etc. Maybe a few people will slip in but he said they will sell one ticket per one seat.

  4. This alum is very happy.  I've got my tix but maybe I'll go and get in line Sat. AM just to feel what it would have been like in my day if we had this kind of excitement on campus!  How about a winter tailgating party!  Start early / end late.  I'll bring the grill!  Will the admin. allow this?

I'm in for some pre-game celebration, as the little lady will be chauferring me around throughout the day. I have a feeling the fun police will be on top of their games, however.

UVM got 700 tickets plus the people that called in or what not. So we probably will have about 900 - 1000 greens in the crowd. Thats enough people to make some noise, so bring your A+ throat(I think I can say that) !!!!! I just want to fall asleep and wakeup on Saturday morning.

  5. Bob Weiner has a good article on the Gazette's Sports section front page entitled "UAlbany getting early dose of March Madness"  I just want to post a couple of Dr. McElroy's comments:

At one point he is talking about being patient, building a program and recruiting good character student-athletes and goes on to say: "Remember that two years ago, we were 5-23.  Now, we're setting all kinds of records.  It can only get better.  This is a tribute to Coach Brown, to his staff, and to the kids"

Toward the end, talking about being on ESPN: "Millions of people will be watching us.  There is no question about it. Those people, too, will get an appreciation of what Coach Brown has done with this program.  I've had plenty of success in my career, and I've been fortunate.  But I'm happier for Coach Brown and the kids."

I would bet any amount of $$$ that a contract has already been negotiated and signed and they are simply waiting either from Board of Regents approval or simply for the end of the season to announce it.

Can you say CHA CHING for Coach!!!! Both parties gambled and the house lost....but really won!!

    12515

OH Man how I wish it to be so!!!!!!

  6. I hate to break the news.  But, I think all the seats but chairbacks are all general admission meaning you don't have an assigned seat for the game.

    12513

I beg to differ, I asked the person at the window and was told that all seats are assigned. They are not a first come first serve basis.

  7. Just curious - is anyone else going to the Section II, Class AA championship tonight at the Pepsi (soon to be Citizens Bank?) Arena?  It is 7 PM between Albany High and CBA.

    12498

Citizens Bank Arena? Doesn't sound terrible, is that pure speculation or is there something to it. Thanks

    12500

Jesus, can it get worse for me. Not only does Citizens Bank charge me up the ying yang on fees, but now I have to watch those fees go to naming the arena the 'Aints play in?!

COME ON....I feel like Napolean Dynamite right now...just smash my tater tots why dont ya!!!

    12502

    HEHEHEHEHE....just smash my tater tots...classic!

  8. By the way I'm forking over the money next season and getting season tix.  I'm not standing inline at 7am again next year!   :P

    12490

Rather than that, which would be cool (getting season's) donate to the Stadium Project....they need every dollar if groundbreaking will happen by 2007 (fall). Imagine waiting in line twice: for UA tourney tickets and a sold out home game versus the University of Delaware or Montana for a NCAA playoff game in a 15,000 seat stadium!!!!

    12491

To be completely honest with you I could care less about football. Perhaps I’ll get into it when I go to a game or two, but honestly I don’t care about football and I do care about basketball. I’ve been to 7 games this year, so I’m putting my entertainment capital there.

  9. I'm in, baby!

    Section 250

    Row P

Hopefully I will have the chance to meet some of you while in ALbany.

(Also, Ticket man said it was crazy, and that they were getting close to selling out).

    12483

I was inline at 7:05 AM, the fifth person inline. Got my tix, section 150 row Z. Go Danes go…….these will be sold out by noon if they aren’t sold out already. There was probably about 200 people inline and the limit was 8 per person. Gona be a great weekend.

  10. Does anyone know when students are allowed to buy tickets? Can we get them tomorrow morning along with everyone else?

    12419

Anyone have any info on how many tix are still available? Should I go down there Tuesday morning or risk it by trying to get through on the phone?

  11. Here's to every one who gave it to Jon Iati over the last month and to every one on the post about kicking the chair who said he shouldent be playing and who are you goning to put him in for. well he just help clinch the outright regular season title for all you front runners. Every one saying he's to small he can't guard anyone,he's struggling shooting. we were srtuggling today and he came in and had 30. so lets just admitt that no one on here knows what really going on and leave the coaching to Will, the playing to 12 guys in uniform and the yelling in the stands to every one on this site.

    12215

If you actually knew the game or even followed the team you'd know that noone here was knocking him. We all agreed that he has his spots and at time can be great. But there is no denying that he's had a rough go of it this season. I didn't see you call us all "frontrunner" two days ago, we were simply wondering what was going on. Just because John had one great game doesn't mean he's going to go off for 29 (not 30) every day. And if you actually knew the game you'd realize that in the first half UMBC played zone defense. This enabled John to have good looks from the arc. In the second half they switched to man-to-man and John had something like 7 points. Yeh still great but not 22 points. There's only one thing you got right in your post. YOU DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON!!!!!

  12. Considering the predictions they are having a great season, including a win over us.  I read their board, I don't see them complaining oo much about wyland's coverage.  After all he works for us part time.

    12212

I read their board to, go take a look at what they are talking about right now. I mean, yeh they are having a great season, but they are still in 4th place? Since when is that an accomplishment that deserves non ending attention. UAlbany has won their confrence, that is something to talk about. I don't even mind Rog giving them some love because they are having a good season. But what do they expect? same coverage as the Danes?
