Ball state deal fell through late. At holy cross instead. Have to honor the home-home deal. -

I know it has been a while since Gattuso has had to deal with this situation as a head coach. Not impressed on how it was handled. No doubt football is a game of emotions. In this situation he has to eat his humble pie and shake Talley's hand. There is no excuse not too. It sets a poor example for the players. As a coach, whenever my team is taking its lumps like Albany did, I usually sub out when the winning team starts to sub out. Not right away, but soon there after. If a team takes its starting and even second string D out, I will start to pull my starters slowly. If the starters can't get it done against the big boys, they don't deserve to get it done against the 2's and 3's. I know each situation is different, but that is my take.

Had a conversation related to this on Saturday with a former alum before this happened. It was about running up the score. Coach ford used to say it all of the time, if you don't want a team to run up the score, get better. At the high school level running the score up can be suspect. You are dealing with kids. In this case we are dealing with recruited college athletes. Nobody feels bad for you. Just get better

Fans want a legitimate college football tailgating experience. The university is doing a better job with a beer tent and the promotions in the racc parking lot, but this caters to a small group. The majority of others (students) want a place to drink beer, grill burgers, and not have to make the trek from Dutch quad lot

The guy is one of the best coaches you will ever meet. They played this year with average NEC talent. It sucks when kids can't execute what you are asking an coaching them to do at a high level. It's extremely frustrating. Your scheme is your scheme. The meat and potatoes of this offense has been the same or years with much success.

If there is no offer at this point in the game for these seniors, they probably aren't coming. The "interest" tag means nothing without an offer. I have coached kids who went to all of these combines whose profiles ended up on scout and rivals and have 10 1-a schools listed with medium interest, they were all d2/3 players in the end. Once we start stealing kids with legitimate offers, then we know we have arrived in the recruiting game.

You guys couldn't be further off with saying no coaching experience is ok. It is two completely different things, coaching vs playing. OL is the most complicated position to coach and prepare for. You are working solo to get 5 guys on the same page. It will take him years to figure it out as a coach. No doubt his experience will help. But the prep he needs to do from now until next August is unimaginable by those who have never done it. He needs to work the kinks out during spring ball an clinic his ass off this off season.

I agree with danefan. Continued success in the northeast is imperative. They have recently expanded successful recruiting va/dc area and that is great. Success in western pa would be huge. I caution about people being over excited about fl/ga/tx. There are so many options for kids from those states in state and bored states. We often attract lower teir kids and it ends up hurting us. Ie., the 3 upstanding citizens from each if those states from 2006

Ruler, I agree. But you need to give a coach at least 3-4 to establish "his" program. You need get get through their first recruiting class to really see their impact. Just having more schollies we should be better next year with the guys in the bench right now. But should doesn't mean will. It's going to take time, 3 years minimum. You need a full team on developed scholly athletes to see your full worth as a coach. Steady improvemn is key.
