  1. Everyones opinion matters. You are free to share. Agree or disagree. I just can't stay silent when someone threatens to cut off support for our university and student athletes because they used their 1st amendment right in the most respectful way possible. Honoring our country and our military veterans while showing the need to improve equality .... on MLK weekend. So I'm gonna attempt to stop posting for a while myself. That said, I do approve of you deleting the app. Don't care if I get banned for saying it, but this opinion of yours, while you are free to make it, is offensive to many of our student athletes, many at our university, and many on this board. Just as you are free to post it, others are free to react to it. Many feel the same way as you, and that's your opinion. That's how freedom of speech works though. You post whatever you want, within the terms you agreed to when you signed up of course, and others can react as they feel fit. I have no bad feelings if I chased someone away from the board that has your feelings. If I get banned for defending the students rights to make their voice heard and to make their statement ... I'd wear that as a badge of honor.
  2. I'm not triggered. I'm not a democrat or a snowflake. I am passionate about supporting UA and our student athletes. If I was triggered by anything it was that someone would publicly state that they would cease to support the school and program because our players used their first amendment rights on MLK weekend. I've already apologized for making the leap to assuming the support of the storming of the capital and armed violent protests supposedly happening today and Wednesday. That was wrong. For the record, I haven't seen the photo that the comment was made over. I have no clue if it even exists. Let's hope for a good game and a W today.
  3. Yes, it was an emotional leap for me to suggest he supported the storming of the capital. I apologise for that. That said, the people that did that are also the people that complain about kneeling. Supporting kneeling or BLM definitely does not mean supporting any violent protests, even if 93%+ of all protests did not include any violence, some wackos did go crazy. That should be condemned as well. For the record, I am not left wing, I didn't vote for or support Biden.
  4. Our great military members fought and died for our rights to to speak up and be heard. They deserve all the respect in the world. Kneeling is a sign of respect. If the players were disrespectful and made poor hand gestures to the flag, then I would agree. Punish them for it. Don't donate. Whatever you want. Kneeling is the respectful way to show your feelings. Never did I say if you don't like it, get out. You are free to say your feelings. Freedom of speech only protects you from government restrictions, it doesn't protect you from private actions. Make whatever choice you want, but I'm pretty positive that the team cares very little about if you make your GDAC contribution or not because they decided to respectfully show their support for the oppressed people on MLK weekend. Jimbo, Please PM me proof of what your GDAC donation was in 2020 last year, and I'll add that amount to mine this year.
  5. So... Players utilizing their first amendment right to show support for the oppressed people of the country over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend makes you decide to go stop supporting the team and being part of the GDAC program? You know that kneeling is a sign of respect right? Go Bing yourself. The team doesn't want or need your support anyway. Wish this site didn't autocorrect that word to Bing. It reads GO F - U - C - K YOURSELF. You are probably a Trump supporter that thinks it's perfect acceptable to storm the capital though.
  6. He is playing like a D1 player this year. He may not be an all-conference player, but he is hard nosed, seems like a great teammate and is a good role model / member of the community. Proud to have him in the program.
  7. Nevermind. I guess I see now that its on NBCSN. Now I gotta figure out if that's on cable or if it's streaming only.
  8. St. Joe's has had a rough start to their season, but a scan of their roster shows multiple 3-4 star recruits. Could be a tough game and a good learning experience for the team win or lose.
  9. With no fans, what kind of concessions are need to be made? Hell, could do a home and home for 2 games in a week. No travel concerns, not piece of the gate to discuss. Seems purely ego issues on both sides.
  10. Download the duckduckgo browser and use that for TU and Gazette articles. You can burn your browsing history completely so can reset your article read count.
  11. I know there have been a lot of naysayers so far this season, but I do think we need to reserve judgement. Team is missing an all-conference guard, a big that was expected to play a lot of minutes, and is still learning each other. The glaring stat right now is how well they have controlled the ball. Shot selection may be off, there isn't enough movement, but they aren't turning it over. If they can keep that up they will have a chance to beat anyone. The biggest issue so far has been another poor start to defending the 3. I'm not sure what it is, but opponents always seem to shoot well against us..
  12. Not this season. Back to back games for each series. Minimize travel.
  13. I was just saying how lifeless they look. Team drove up this morning which doesn't help. Was hoping to see brown flip out about something to get a T and fire the team up. They need something.
  14. Healy still hurt. Lulka hurt. Hank not in shape yet. Team not rotating quick enough while in the zone leading to wide open 3s. UVM has cooled a little, so it could be way worse.
  15. SBU goes on a 2 week pause because of a positive test with someone associated with the team, postponing their next 2 weekends against UMBC and UA. Not sure how the league rules work this year. Could UMBC and UA use those now open weekends to schedule OOC games?
  16. There seems to be a lot more parity in the league this year. UVM is 2-2 with losses to UML and NJIT SBU is 4-0 UNH is 2-0 UMBC is 3-1 (lost to Bing) Hartford (2-2) looks strong, but lost twice to NH UA is 0-2 but only lost both games by a combined total of 6 points. Pretty surprising league start.
  17. It's early in their first game, but I'm watching UVM on ESPN3 right now. They do not look good at the moment. It seems that the pauses and lack of games with refs and TV crews hurts a lot more than I thought they would.
  18. To clarify my comments above, no I wasn't predicting that the team will make the dance, just that it wouldn't surprise me if they did. They would need to come together at the right time, and in the AE, almost any team could do it.
  19. As of now yes. I believe the current plan is to get rid of regional sites and have a massive single location bubble event. We will see as time goes on...
  20. It's FAR too early to make any comments on what this team will do. UA is basically a team that is playing at the level they would normally be playing at around purple and gold scrimmage time (early November form) playing against a team that has played together enough to be in "Mid-OOC" form. (Early/Mid December). The team hasn't scrimmaged anyone, and the coaches have had 0 chance to see what the players would do with actual refs, much less the lights and a TV crew. That said, from the little we have seen, I see the following: * Defense actually looks pretty good. They held UMBC to well below their season average. UMBC is a good team this year. * Shooting is still extremely rusty. We won't win many games at those percentages. * Team seems way faster, deeper, and more athletic than in recent years * Still way too many three point attempts. Winning Albany basketball has always been about making more free throws than the opponent attempts. After attacking the rim non stop the outside shot opens up. * With Hank not playing much, the team is small and doesn't have much inside presence. I'm guessing he didn't play much because he isn't very fast, and might still be out of game shape with so few practices. I think we will need to see more of him to win the rebounding battles, and also to free up some of the outside shots. Without a big body down low the defense can spread out a bit, contesting the guards more. I am betting this team will be playing well by the AE tournament, and will have a real shot at dancing, but it's gonna look bad when they start 0-4 in league after the UVM weekend, relegating them to PIG status. The only shot they would have to be a 15 or 16 seed would be a split at UVM, and the chances of that happening are pretty slim this early in the year.
  21. I know UA was out rebounded, but with the smaller team this year, I expect that to happen a lot. Especially when the team shoots so poorly. 6-19 from 3 was probably the real difference. I hope that doesn't become the norm this season.
  22. Good game. Fell just short. Feels nice to see UA basketball again. Would have liked a win, but the team showed a lot. Wouldn't be surprised to see a win tomorrow.
