  1. From Twitter a couple of hours ago

PG Joel Brown @jabrown_1 , who started 93 games for Cal, has heard from Iona, George Mason, Bakersfield, Albany, & South Dakota. One year remaining

Averaged 7 points and 3 assists for a bad Cal team (but still the Pac 12). Also 93 starts is a ton of experience for the AE.

This would be a nice pick up. Could be a point guard that I guy like Little can learn behind.

  2.  I sound like a broken record but if I'm Killings,  going to into my 3rd year, I'm keeping jackson as a pwo ( if he plays a lot this year and improves I give him a ride. He played a lot on a bad bad team last year ).

Ketner would be out of a scholarship and I would not have Hutch back.

Give me 3 more scholarships to use. A point,  a big, and the best player in the portal I can get.

UA1882, you stated "Need to get much better!"  Did you mean recruit better athletes?  If so, what did you expect after this year?

No. Get better in an general sense.  The team was so flawed year in every way imaginable.  The are several ways to get better: Recruit better players , coach better, put a team together that is coherent, ect. Coach Killings had been a coach for a long time not to understand this and I think be does.  One way or another the team needs to get much better.

Sorry D96 I did read your prior post before my followup question.  My question was to UA1882

Obviously if money was not an option then look at any of the big ncaa facilities (Kanasa , Villanova,  ect) and copy them.  However,  with this new stadium, which is great for low D1, there is no longer a real excuse not to succeed.

Does not matter if your low D1 or highest D1 (UConn sucked a few years ago), with the transfer portal the way it is you can turn around a team very very quickly.  A new arena will only help.

So from a facilities stand point in the AE is there anything we can add to make us more attractive to a potential recruit?

Facilities for basketball that we can afford ......no....

Things we can add to make us more attractive to potential recruits ??

    NIL MONEY !!!!!

    Kellog has hit the portal...

Kellogg had a terrible year last year . If you can't see the court on a bottom 30 team , then I'm glad he is leaving.

I'm hoping that Killings and starting to feel the heat. I hope we have as many scholarships as possible to hopefully turn this train wreck around.

Killings needs to hit a home run in the portal this year and he needs as many pitches (scholarships) as possible to do it.

Folks, Killings and Ketner are basically family.  He’s not going to make Ketner pay for college, if he can.  The last scholarship on a team isn’t making a difference.   If he is no longer on the basketball team, something was worked out.

They might be "basically family" but it's not family.  Killings is making over 400K to be a D1 basketball coach.  If he fails miserably he may never ever get another shot. If that means letting him go and open up a scholarship to be more successful and ensure his "own families" prosperity,  I bet he does .

  8. I said it before but it's still relevant to this topic.  You need to keep Beagle,  Neely, and Drumgoole. If Drumgoogle decides to graduate then you lose 16 points per game.  Lose any of those you are a sub 500 team next year at best (unless you get very very lucky in the portal).

If you keep all three, and do well in the portal, it could be a good year.

But it's starts and stops with those 3.

  9. Ladies and Gentlemen,

I tried.  I don't watch women's basketball, but I decided today to support the women's basketball team. That was the worse game I have ever seen.  I have seen thousands if not tens of thousands of games.  If the men's team is unwatchable,  there is not a word in the English language to describe this game. Have to call a spade a spade no matter how much it hurts.  7th and 8th grade boys would CRUSH these teams.  I can't believe how many layups are missed.  Wow, just wow.

  10. As i said before Killings is too nice.  Needs to let 2 assistant coaches go and hire 2 more experienced coaches. Coaching this year was terrible.  We never improved.  Not even a little.

He also needs to let 3 of these 4 go: Edmead, Ketner, Kellogg, or Amica.

I know he wants to be a stand up guy but he needs the think of himself first.  If he fails miserably here he will probably never get another head coaching job (making 400k a year).

Lastly I know you guys are high on our recruits but they will still be freshman.  Also im told Aznan is a border line D1 player . We were his only offer. Not saying he can't develop into something but it won't be next year.

Need to keep Drumgoole,  Neely, and Beagle. Let 3 of the above walk, and get better and older. If we don't we won't be much better next year.  Killings needs to realize this and start to get selfish .

  11. From Twitter:

UAlbany athletic director Mark Benson and Killings are at the women's basketball semifinal together, say there's no truth to this.

I imagine this closes the book on Killings getting fired ..... Of course only Benson would say no truth then the next day fire Killings. But I would think even he is not that stupid. He would have said no comment. Killings here to stay. Need to get better.

Saw that tweet.  Also think this is out there a bit.  But a lot of coaches in three leagues have been talking about this for a day or so.  However, that can be just recruiting shenanigans

I do not quiet understand what is being said here, but if Killings is fired they need to find a coach who has been WINNING.  Either a head coach or a top assistant. Killings appeared to be a good hire at the time but he was a loser. None of his assistant jobs ever really won. Need to find a coach who consistently goes to the ncaa tournament or a good head coach.  I know you disagree be we will probably lose both Neely and Beagle . It is what it is .
