  1. She needed to go. Indeed, she has done a tremendous job during her tenure. We need someone in there that is more athletic friendly and will spend some of the schools $ to bring us up to the playing level we all want to see. This next President needs to put our athletics program on the same playing field as Binghamton, Buffalo, and Stony Brook. ...ie Football stadium, full scholarsghips etc. Hopefully they hire someone outside of Albany that was involved with Division 1A or 1AA athletics.
  2. Agreed, the lateral to Jones was a stupid play. I AGREE! We got beat at our own game of smash mouth, no question. We were outplayed by a better D is also true, but to sit here and throw dirt on the team is a mistake. Sacred heart is not a lousey team, and SBU, Wagner, and RMC does not exactly scare me. We have played the NEC's best team on Sat and Lost by 3....even with all the mistakes we lost BY 3! We have won 4 games we played with the Turnovers. If we eliminate T/O we probably beat Monmouth....so what if most of Gary Jones came on one play...who cares...they were only down BY 3. If O-Line had any balls on Sat they would have scored more...they didn't. SBU is not exactly Nebraska coming to town,Wagner is not exactly Miami we are playing and neither of these teams were better then Monmouth! Oh, btw Sacred Heart beat RMC, so how tough do you think RMC is gonna be? Yes, as of now we are playing for second place, but if Sacred Heart knocks off Monmouth...which can happen, and we win out its a 3 way tie. So, Patch, I know you dislike the football program but at least they have already won a championship!
  3. OK people settle down! We are still a VERY GOOD FB TEAM for this conference! I was at the game and spoke at length with Fordie and Simpson after the game. The QB's did make some mistakes(INT before half was Monmouths only TD) BTW, The D is outstanding and will be a strength for a few years. But according to the staff the loss goes on the O-Line and critical T/O...if that int was not thrown before the half we win 7-3....because Monmouth's QB's aren't that good Period! MONMOUTH WAS better on D then Brown! Fact! Sciara threw a beautiful pass in the 3rd qtr to cut the lead to 3. Albany had MANY MANY CHANCES in the 4th to WIN outright, but fumbles and lack of production on 3rd down killed them. Gary Jones got 70 yards on the ground...thats not bad. They would pick up 5-6 yards on 1st down, throw an incomplete on 2nd and get stuffed for a loss on 3rd. It happened the whole first half. I really thought we were going to win on the final drive of the 4th, we were on the 38 but got no farther. If we would of got better production out of our line we would have won by 2 TD's. Monmouth D is tremendous and they also have 2 QBs that are not that great. This Monmouth team is beatable...if we played them 5 times we would win 3 out of 5....just not on SAT! THE DIFFERENCE WAS O_LINE AND TURNOVERS. WE WILL SWEEP THE REST OF THE NEC SCHEDULE! We need to play better at Towson. People, we did not lose to a lousy team, we lost to a team that should go on and win the NEC, unless they choke and lose to Sacred Heart ....which we need to have happen. So everyone put the shovels down, we don't need to bury Albany just yet. If they win out they are 8-3. If they lose to Towson 7-4. If they lose to anyone else, then bury them. Let me tell you naysayers one thing. I was down close before the game and watched both teams warm up. This is HARDLY D3 talent. This is a great level of football. No they are not Miami or Florida State, but they are not far away from full scholly 1AA ball. I was very impressed with the size and speed. They would both destroy d3 competiton....and probably beat the top teams as well! This as I havesaid before equal to mid tier D2.
  4. They are getting out of control.....I hope Ford is showing this to the team! I would love to see our squad go down there and kick their asses!!!! Myself and about 10 ex players are going down there to see this game and root Fordie and Simpson on! BRING HOME THE NEC TITLE ALBANY!!!!
  5. I gotta say that the TU does a terrible job of covering Albany football. They never have stories or coverage of the team except for Saturdays(preview) and Sundays(game review). WagnerFootball is coverd by the papers in SI exclusivley. The TU should take a lesson.
  6. We need Sacred Heart to beat RMC. I am actually pulling for Siena and St. Francis. I like St. Francis this week. I really hate Stony Brook as a football program. Lesser talent and staff, but a superior place to play! A friend of mine who played for Albany lives near SBU andhe says they are going to force Kornheiser out pretty soon!
  7. Remember, they also have a young QB. Bob Harmon's Forcast has Albany winning by 2. If our O-line is a s good as advertised, we should be able to run on them anyways. Every team we have faced has put 8 in tthe box. The only team to have any success against us was Northeastern. This team is hardly Northeastern. I think we are giving Monmouth too much credit. Yes, they are a good team but how good? Who have they beaten? RMC and Georgetown. Alumni 72 is right, their offense struggles. Also we gave up big plays against St. Francis when the game was out of reach. St. Francis was never in a position to beat us. Just eliminate turnovers and let our line and backs do the rest.
  8. He has a bad finger. He should be ready and willing since he has not played in 3 weeks. We are going to need him. They got Kryzak back last week.
  9. This is Albany's season!!!! Monmouth is as good as advertised. This game will define the Danes in 2003. If we win, we will win the conference hands down. If we lose, we will obviously have a winning season, but it will be a letdown! Keys to victory: Must establish run immedialtly, they will put 8 in the box. We need top be dominant upfront and make them question themselves and their ability to stop our run. They (their Defense)are being told how dominant our running game is. If we can come out and punch them in the mouth, they will be demoralized. Albany QB's MUST HAVE CAREER DAYS...WE need to have a downfield threat Defense must contain the 2 QB's that they rotate. they also have pretty good recievers. They have a terriffic FG kicker....must not let this come down to a FG situation. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE COACHING STAFF MUST NOT BE PREDICTABLE...this is critical as we have won all of our games with the same formula. The monmouth staff have been seeing this on film how Albany plays. They must be able to make changes on the fly. This teams D is as good as Brown's was.
  10. I think you are right about the killer instinct. St. Francis will be better then St. Peters. I think if we can get this W on Saturday we will be really fine tuned for Monmouth. I do not think very much of SBU. But we can't afford to look past anyone.
  11. I do not know much about them. They are big, not sure of their speed. I think they would be hard pressed to be faster then we are. I only hope is Fordie doesn't let them look ahead to Monmouth, which i doubt he will. The weather is supposed to be bad and St. Francis is feeling pretty good about their first win. We can't let up. As usual we need to jump out early and stay on them.
  12. I am assuming that this will also have Albany in mind as well. Hitchcock is against a move up and McElroy is for it. She may be at the University Of Florida next year anyway. Albany also plays Hofstra next year. I think this conference will be set up with 40 scholarships available. What i don't understand is that these schools have access to MILLIONS and they won't spend it on Football? I just don't understand! Its not like we are a nationally ranked business school or Med school....where is alll this money going????
  13. I raise Millions of dollars every year for my companies Hedge Funds here in NYC. In fact I have raised over 26 million in the last 3 years for this company. I raise money for a living. I know if I was hired I could do the same for the University's athletic deopartment. It would be easy in my opinion as compared to what I am doing now. It would probably be a blast. Give me an office, phone, and 10% of whatever I raise. We would have a stadium by 2007.
  14. Myself and a few others are making the trip north to see the game. AND WE CAN'T OVERLOOK ST. PETERS OR WE WILL GET BEAT! Albany has the tendancy to play easier teams easy. Every year they mange to lose a game they shouldn't...aka Stony Brook last year. They will be focused. They also need to beat St. Francis in 2 weeks to make the game with Monmouth meaningful in 3 weeks. There is very little room for mistakes this year. Again NO PREDICTIONS. We need to jump on this team early and not let up. Kill their will to be dangerous. They are full of trick plays, reverses and their QB is an excellent athlete that is prone to run the qb draw ALOT!
  15. What did Fordie say? i live in NYC, kinda tough for me to get to these things. Just like the Golf Tournament they have is always on a Monday?????? What happened to saturdays?
  16. I believe the passing game will come around. This is not a tough offense to pass in. It will take some time. But hopefully not alot. Delgado appears to be the better passer of the two. Hopefully we find someone to come up in the meantime. Bring back Kozlowski next year and get that kid from Brockport back. We CAN WIN THE NEC with our running game. Our O-line i have been told is just simply dominating at its own level. We must blow people off the ball in every game and that includes SBU and Monmouth. We are also forgetting that we are better on Defense then we think. Champions are built by having a great D and a great running game. Albany it appears has both. JUST WIN BABY!
  17. Football stands where it stands. We get very good players for our level, which is equivalent to mid tier Division 2. We should be able to compete for the NEC on a consistent basis. When they finally push our program to full scholarship football we will be able to compete with the Montana's and Northeastern's of the big time and all IVY league/Patriot League teams. FYI we will NEVER be 1A in football. We are only looking to move to 1AA scholarship football. So for all the guys from the hoops program that are comparing us to Oaklahoma and Miami....STOP! We are not saying we will be at that level. Just as Albany hoops will never be at the Syracuse level(I know you played them and got abused...which means you should not be playing at that level...just do it for the $) So a win over an inferior Sacred Heart opponent does not mean much...but a win is a win! The team we need to focus on is next weeks opponent. The qb's have got to improve...I hear Delgado made great strides on Sat. he had 2 TD passes dropped. I watched SBU and Monmoth on Sat night, All everyone was talking about at the game is that Albany is a wrecking machine! i think we have a mental advantage...SBU DOES NOT IMPRESS ME AT ALL. Monmoth IS THE REAL DEAL! Great D as always and a transfer from Rutgers at QB. Both of these teams we can run on, but not with the ease of SHU. Both have better Defenses, but they are on the same page as Brown...neither were as good as Northeastern. If memory serves me correctly we ran on Brown with some success.
  18. We need to re establish our ground game on Saturday, we got away from it a little bit against Brown. Jones and George should both get at least 20 carries each. We need our O-Line to pound the living hell out of a young Defense. The last time I made predictions we got beat by Brown(which was a very winnable game...so disapponted over that loss). So no predictions this week. We were severly hurt by turnovers in the 1st 3 games. That needs to end Saturday. Is Sciarra or Delgado our answer at QB? They really haven't shown me much. All we need to do is complete short passes out of the backfield, thats not to much to ask. Although I do like Sciarra ability to run the ball when needed. Is Kurt Campbell healthy? And where is this rising superstar from last year Kamar Elliot? He was the next big thing I thought. I haven't seen anything from him, is he hurt?
