  1. I think that most of us can agree that a key to winning Saturday's game against Hartford is stopping containing this force: http://www.hartfordh...aspx?rp_id=2510 As to Hartford's backcourt, Yolonzo Moore II had 18 points against us when we played Hartford in January (UAlbany won 56-46). Moore also played all 40 minutes. Mark Nwakamma had 14 points in only 25 minutes. Expect Hartford to counter whatever we did to them on defense in the second half of our first game against them when we outscored them 29-14. For our part, Black and Iati shot a combined 3 for 20 against Hartford. I would expect Hartford to continue to focus on our perimeter game and on Hooley, who was our leading scorer against Hartford with 18 points (Sam Rowley had 17 points). The box score to the first game can be viewed here: https://admin.xosn.c...DB_OEM_ID=15800 or here: http://www.hartfordh...559&path=mbball
  2. The lineup should vary depending on the team we are playing and the match-ups. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter who "starts" in the final analysis. And I'm glad Coach makes these decisions and not me. Here is one possibility: C: Puk PF: Rowley SF: G. Johnson SG: Hooley PG: Black If we're playing Vermont, and we are in a situation where Vermont is on the power play, I wouldn't mind seeing this penalty-killing unit out there: C: Puk PF: Metcalf SF: Devlin SG: Rowley PG: Hooley
  3. Hartford just upset Stony Brook 60-55. Saturday is a must win for us if we want to finish ahead of Hartford in the standings and earn the #3 seed.
  4. Treadmill time. I've seen enough. Frustrating loss ... *sigh*
  5. With UVM up early on UMBC, losing to Maine could be a blessing in disguise down the road. I do not want to play Maine in the first round of the AE Tournament. Assuming we can get the #3 seed in the Tournament (beating Hartford at home should help), we need Maine to finish #5 and ahead of UMBC in the regular-season standings so that we can play #6 UMBC (UNH and Binghamton will be the #7 and #8 seeds in all likelihood) in the first round of the America East Tournament. Down 31-18 at the half. * * * If we beat Hartford next week, and Hartford loses to SB and at UVM (but wins the rest of their games), Hartford would finish 9-7. If we finish 9-7 (assuming a loss today, a loss at Boston, and a loss at Stony Brook), we would get the tiebreak having swept Hartford. Thus, we most likely get the #3 seed because Boston is disqualified. I continue to believe next Saturday's game at home vs. Hartford is the most important game of the year for us.
  6. This is my basketball. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My basketball is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My basketball, without me, is useless. Without the basketball, I am useless. I must shoot my basketball true. I must shoot straighter than Maine . . . .
  7. We look horrible out there. At least 3 or 4 bad (or fumbled) passes so far leading to turnovers. Very sloppy sloppy basketball hockey.
  8. Anyone else having problems with the Maine video of the game? Won't load for me.
  9. I am curious as to whether this game will be played given the winter weather that is predicted for the Northeast. If the game is to be played despite the snow predictions, it would seem that a precondition for the game would be for the basketball team to travel to Maine today (or tonight). Any word on whether the team actually departed for Maine today? Any word on whether the America East responded to Coach's inquiry about the Saturday game?
  10. UAlbany wins 79-56. Out-of-Town Scoreboard Update: Vermont beats UNH 63-48. Hartford beats Binghamton 76-62. Our game at home against Hartford on February 16 (7PM) is going to be a big game insofar as the final standings are concerned.
  11. UMBC seems to be able to drive on us, but our help defense and rotations look really nice. We are rotating down low at the blocks especially well.
  12. Did I just hear that we are up 63-18 against the UMBC women?!
  13. Rodger on Fox 980 AM states that Black has a "mild ankle sprain" and that it is said to be "not severe." The prognosis for Saturday's game at Maine is unknown.
  14. Our man-to-man defense looks soft at times: two consecutive 3s by UMBC. At this point our lead is the product of UMBC's dismal shooting percentage (was around 15% before the 3s) and careless mistakes. UAlbany up 36-19 at the half. Out-of-Town Scoreboard Watch: Vermont up on UNH at the half 34-16. Hartford up on Binghamton 38-36 at the half.
  15. Two consecutive perfect pick-and-rolls with Puk and Iati for 4 points. Close-up shot of the section behind UAlbany's bench reveals that the section is almost completely full of purple fans. Fox 980: Black has "sprained right ankle and will not return."
  16. Oh no, Black down on the baseline. Appears to be hurt. Black was leading a fast break with a couple Danes trailing him. He went 1 on 1 and appears to have come down wrong on his right leg. Two UA players just helped him off the court. He appears unable to put any weight on his right leg. He is en route to the locker room.
  17. Offensive foul called on Rowley, but it sure didn't look like it. He was driving to the right of his man. Definitely some purple in the crowd!
  18. UMBC's video feed just went live at 6:48PM. There are about 10 people seated at half court. Looks pretty quiet there.
