  1. I voted 10-14 or 15-19; I don't recall. But then again I was sure that Stony Brook would win the America East Tournament. Hey Click, can you pass the hot sauce and blue cheese for my fried crow? (Crow never tasted so good as it has the past two weeks.)
  2. Our frontcourt should be just as good next year, if not better. I would like to see Rowley develop a 15-foot jump shot, which would make him deadly. And with Hooley becoming a 3-point threat (I hope), we'll have offensive options. And I believe I saw Devlin make a 3-pointer today against Duke. I hope Devlin can come back strong for us. He can be a 10ppg+ and 6-7 rbg+ guy. The big question mark is of course our vacant backcourt, but I like DJ and think he can handle it; he's got super quickness.
  3. Devlin was huge in the post-season. I hope he stays healthy and has a great 2013-14 season.
  4. Very pleased with our effort in the 73-61 loss. Our guys should feel proud.
  5. Too many forced shots in the second half. Duke is shooting 61% for the game. If Binghamton was shooting 61% against us, we would be down by 10+ points too. We've done a much better job in the second half protecting the ball, and Duke's rebounding advantage isn't that much (5 or so).
  6. Dr. Jones was awesome at Vermont, came down to the court to celebrate and chanted "ua ua ua ua uaaaaaaa" with all of us. Was pretty cool. I agree--he was on the court celebrating before I could get on the court! He's awesome.
  7. R-M-U, R-M-U. The Colonials knock off Kentucky by 2 and storm the court after their first-round NIT win. Good for them!
  8. I love the energy that the Colonials are playing with. I hope we come out the same way against Duke. Kentucky has 5 or 6 turnovers already... .
  9. Robert Morris up 10-0 on KU early in a packed house! It looks like it is standing room only along one of the baselines and other parts of the gym. Love it!
  10. I wonder if Coach will reach out to Logan and ask him about Duke. I wonder if the local media will do the same since that might make an interesting pre-game story this week.
  11. On ESPN they have us playing on Friday in Philadelphia in the Midwest Region. #2 seed Georgetown in the East Region is also slated to play on Friday in Philadelphia. Two regions playing in the same arena on the same day? #2 seeds Duke and Georgetown both in Philly? What am I missing?
  12. Back to Philly to play #2 seed Duke. Got a #15 seed. Great matchup for us as far as TV exposure and audience.
  13. After two hours of constant screaming, chanting and clapping at Patrick Gym the crowd at SEFCU was frustratingly quiet for much of the game last night. I was glad we finally got into it at the end of the game to supply some noise and energy. Lady DP pointed out that at the end of what I described as a "great day" I was hoarse from yelling and my hands were bleeding from all the clapping. Totally worth it. I perceived the same thing at last night's game. For my part, I was exhausted after driving over 300 miles and going through the highs and lows of the men's game. We woke up towards the end of the game, and as a fan, yesterday is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life.
  14. With regard to the article on the Coach's wife getting hit by a bottle, Coach handled that situation with grace and stated the right thing insofar as the incident with the bottle throwing reflected the behavior of 1 out of 3,000. Unfortunately, such behavior is not the product of 1 out of 3,000 UVM fans. In 2007, a Vermont fan came on the court right after the buzzer sounded as we were rushing (and already on) the court, and that Vermont fan "drop kicked" and assaulted our mascot. It was violent, aggressive, and in no way playful. It happened right in front of me. If that happened at UAlbany, the student would have been arrested by the police. So perhaps it's just 2 bad apples? In my view, Vermont fans outwardly exhibit the most passion (which may be different than possessing the most passion) of any school's fans in our Conference (honorable mention: UMBC's diehard fans). So, one will see the best of fans at a UVM game, and it logically follows that that one will see the worst of fans also at a UVM game; to wit, where there is high passion and emotion, the best and worst human behavior can usually be found. To be fair, I generally have not heard much explicit trash talk from UVM fans. However, I do believe that one UVM fan purposefully screamed in my ear as loud as she could yesterday (to the point that it was physically painful), and I perceived it to be intentional and directed towards me (My passion got the best of me, and I wrongly responded in kind a few minutes thereafter). I am not trying to be overly critical of Vermont fans (I love their passion and relatively unwavering support). The purpose of this post is to opine that they are no better than the rest of us.
  15. Vermont is going to be even better next year. I think Blue is the only key player graduating, and O'Day is only a freshman. Hartford is very young, but I can't see Stony Brook (or Hartford) finishing ahead of UVM next season. My preseason top 5 looks like this:(1) UVM; (2) SB; (3) Albany; (4) Hartford; (5) Maine....
  16. That is so friggin awesome! As long as you don't block too many views with the signs no one should bother you. I just hope we win. I really want to win. Any day before thoughts on the game itself? Keys to the game, etc.? In 2007 we won at UVM 60-59. Last week we beat SB 61-59. Hartford beat UVM two weeks ago 61-58. To win I think we need to keep UVM at 25 points or less in the first half and 30 or less in the second half. I can't imagine scoring much more than 60 on them. Our frontcourt needs to play huge and out rebound them (have to rebound well on the road); limit their offensive boards and keep their shooting percentage under 40%. We need Gary Johnson's defense to be special and bigs like Devlin and Metcalf to have key minutes and rebound and defend hard. We need everyone on that bench to give 110% to pull this off. Most importantly, we need all 520 of us to be louder than the Vermont fans, stand during all gameplay, and support this team with everything we have as fans. We truly are the 6th man tomorrow. Time for us to do our part!
  17. Can anyone recommend the best way to access Vermont by car? Internet directions suggest exit 20 off the Northway and then driving up to Crown Point to cross into Vermont (NY 185 east, onto bridge becoming Vermont 17 which runs into Vermont 22A). What route does everyone suggest as I drive north on the Northway?
  18. Please please please make this happen. Who are you trying to make them of? That would be awesome and on ESPN. The Ghost of Carl Ross?
  19. Will October 19 definitely be the homecoming game and homecoming weekend (and not September 21)? I always like the 5K race that the school puts on Saturday morning of homecoming prior to the football game.
