  1. Unless the football fans were going to come up with the big bucks the only way you could prove the need was by making it a multi purpose facility. From what I've heard the soccer teams are more comfortable playing on natural grass - so who knows maybe there won't be permanent soccer lines on the playing surface. We were lucky that we didn't have to include the track facilitites inside the arena. It's amazing, why do I feel that when tickets prices go up we'll hear complaints, from alot of people who say they want UA to be Big Time?????. I fully expect season tickets to at least double as they should. I would be prepared to chalk up a 4 figure donation yearly in addition to being a season ticket holder if you want to park in the RACC lot for games.
  2. Bump for those who forgot (myself included) http://www.ualbanysports.com/newMediaPlayer/console.htm?type=live&id=472741&oemid=15800%20%20&KEY=&DB_OEM_ID=15800&DB_LANG=C&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT=
  3. I think that stays too right? If landscaped right it could be a really nice touch. Although it won't be full all the time right? Only when the water table rises under the stadium?
  4. Looks like they will be adding pictures to this website as well: http://www.albany.edu/facilities/fp/athleticfields.html
  5. Bob Ford Field at John Mara Stadium Will Rooney Mara be at the opening game? Attendance would sky rocket.
  6. Giants camp is going to slow down construction big time........ How about we call it Ford Field at Giants Stadium now that there is no "Giants Stadium" in NJ anymore.
  7. I wonder if the fact that Nano has its own separate budget impacts our admission to AAU? If we get to over $600m of research spending a year like Kayeleros indicates in that article, there is no way in hell AAU can ignore us anymore. Unless of course they say its not really UA but instead SUNY as a whole.
  8. President Philip spoke about the Albany High plan in the May University Council meeting. He mentioned that he would have loved for UA to actually buy the site and build the dorms, but there is no money for it. This is a prime example of the benefits of public-private partnerships though. That is prime real estate. Nice upscale dorms would do a lot of good for that area of Albany. Tie that into the proposed bio-medical research center that Philip wants to build and you have an almost complete revitalization project.
  9. Now is the time to add Albany Law! Add curriculum and faculty for IP law and tie it into Nanotech. Its a match made in heaven.
  10. Hahaha.....in other words "We got this. Go away."
  11. President Obama is dodging the TU too.

  13. At least they clarified that the Stadium funding would not come from this grant.
  14. Huggins and Canaveri have the potential to be the Ray Rice - Jim Leonard combo of a few years ago. Canevari is a punishing runner - also happens to be from my hometown. Watch this run against MD power Gilman. http://www.wbaltv.com/video/24964602/detail.html
  15. Yup - Savon Huggins from St. Peter's prep. They also got the #2 QB recruit in NJ - Gary Nova (was committed to Pitt) from Don Bosco and the all-state RB from Don Bosco - Paul Canevari (who was leaning towards UNC before Coach Haf got to RU)
  16. Article on Hafley and his new success getting some Donnie Bosco recruits: Hafley "Hafley has taken that tactic, and made it work, since his days as an assistant at the University of Albany, where he was the program's recruiting coordinator his final two seasons there." Rutgers has gotten a huge class this year in large part due to Coach Haf. He is a really nice and genuine guy. I think he'll make a fine head coach one day.
  17. http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/01/baylor-football-adds-two-defensive-coach.html Jim Gush (UA ass't in '83) hired as LB coach at Baylor.
  18. The big question is whether there are any changes in the Assembly. Anyone know?
  19. Good and bad news. Good because Flex will definitely make it through the Senate now (which it probably would have anyway as it did last year). Bad because we all know SBU has their Sugar Daddy back.
  20. Probably going to be a short run, but Hank Hughes (DLine 1979) is now the interim HC at UConn. http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/010311aaf.html
  21. I hope you're right. That will bring some consistency to the program in what will undoubtedly be a very trying transition. I just always assumed that Simp would either retire or move on to the NFL when Fordie left. Maybe its a dumb assumption on my part.
  22. AAHHH - how about Mike Simpson Coach Simp is a great guy and a great coach but he's been here a very long time as well and while I have no clue what his aspirations are, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him hang 'em up with Fordie. Or even maybe more likely is a move to an NFL asst position. He's got great contacts in the NFL.
  23. Some changes this with Coach Ford's former assistants: Looks like Pete Lembo is going to be the Head Coach at Ball State (FBS) Jeff Hafley who was on the dismantled Pitt staff and brought in Dion Lewis was just hired by Rutgers http://scarletknights.com/football/news/release.asp?prID=9875 Good to see the young guys like Haffley on big-time staffs. We need some grooming for a Ford successor.
  24. No. I think the fact that Mark was writing about athletic programs with coaches that would not talk to him is why the TU did this.
