1. If UA got the go ahead today for a new 12,000 seat stadium it would still take atleast 5 years to get through the red tape and be built. Your 3 year projection to me seems dillusional. I also don't believe we'll won't be in a new league with an auto bid in 3 years either. I believe it will be 3 years before we break ground. I hope I'm wrong but the SUNY system works in strange ways. 16783 I like to look at the stadium in a positive light and I believe there is a lot more actually happening behind the scenes then anyone knows. If the environmental impact study comes back good I think we'll see some movement and it will be quicker than in the "Old" SUNY system (also known as the "Karen Hitchcock builds a sculpture studio days". With regards to a league with an AQ it will happen at most 3 years from now. Don't forget the NEC continues to apply every year for AQ. So if its not a new league (America East hopefully) I think it will be in the NEC.
2. I've said this before and I'll say it again... I don't see what keeping Bocanegra in the game at QB does for you right now. There is no upside to it...long term or short term. Let Blasinksy play and get some rythm and confidence. Ford has done this with QBs for the past 4 years and what has been our weakness the past 4 years?....QB play! Blasinksy doesn't hurt us now and playing him the rest of the season with nothing but league games left will give him the experience he needs to be an excellent QB the next 3 years...which would match up time-wise with the first real chance we have a IAA national championship (meaning three years from now we should be playing in a 12,000 seat stadium and in a league with an AQ Bid to the playoffs.) It would be nice to have a 4 year starter at the helm then.
3. Do the football team's unofficial trips to Germany count?
4. Awesome seeing those comments. Maybe someone should direct the TimesUseless to the website so they can stop justifying their lack of coverage by saying no one in the community cares about UAlbany sports.
5. This link was posted today on the AGS board and I thought some of you may enjoy using it. The site has a link to almost all I-AA teams' free gameday webcasts. Maybe Dane Pound could add it as a link above. http://travisjliles.com/iaa_audio.aspx
6. we need this one....UNH 31 - Delaware 27 end of the 3rd. Cmon Danes!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. I will be there. Making it a doubleheader with Wyoming at Syracuse at 1:30 before the Albany game. Should be getting to Cornell around 6. 16580 Thats a sweet weekend!
8. Copied from the website: "For more information on how to give to athletics, contact Don Ostrom, Director of Athletic Development at (518) 437-4416 or by e-mail: dostrom@uamail.albany.edu." Don Ostrom is a great guy. I would make sure you let your intentions known that you want to donate to the stadium project. ATL DANE, Did you play football at UA? If so, I'm sure Coach Ford would love to hear from you. Believe it or not Fordie actually checks his email quite frequently. rford@uamail.albany.edu Plus we hold a football alumni golf outing every summer which is great.
9. I love this: "23. Albany - More wins against ranked opponents (2) than any team in the country."
10. Yes. However, Fordie has to be careful not rotate them too much at QB...Blasinsky seems to be the type of QB that is exponentially better when he can get a rythm.
11. I think UA can be a IA team. I just wouldn't want to do it the Buffalo way. The school should be focused on doing it the Marshall way if they plan on doing it at all. Lets win some IAA national championships (which I see possible in 4-5 years) and then talk about IA. Shoot I'd love to see a IA Albany team. My two championship rings will sparkle a lot more in my office...but I sure as heck don't want to look like Buffalo.
12. I don't think Albany cannot be IA.
13. I think it will be more tangible and a useful recruiting tool if they would release something official...like a nice artist's rendering of the stadium with little people and trees and whatnot. This of course means that they actually have the funding, which according to McElroy, we don't yet. I can't help but think that Hitchcock killed the stadium a fews years ago. Stony Brook and Cortland used their construction money for a stadium...but she used our's for a sculpture studio. Hmm
14. Blasinsky is more than capable of "filling in" for Bocanegra. He should start anyway. If Bocanegra is ready to go, put him at receiver. He's a great athelete...but the way I see it play the frosh at QB.. Its a win-win situaiton. You get a good athelete in the game and you get the QB of the future real game experience.... Play Bocanegra, Jason Smith, Josh Furnas and Mike Wall at receiver.
15. Only thing I heard was in the paper - bruised kidney. nothing since.
16. Didn't mean to rain on your parade GD84, just wanted to give props to the lacrosse program too! :-)
17. We need to win this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The offense needs to put some points up................. We all need to root for Delaware to have a good showing against UNH also. Go Blue Hens!
18. Not sure about this, but wasn't Lacrosse ranked at one point a few years ago?

20. SAN DIEGO...is not the best team in IAA mid-major. That belongs to Monmouth or Albany, proving it out on the field! 16481 While I agree in concept, I think its too hard to knock a team from #1 if they have been there in the past and have yet to lose. But I am going to stop looking at the mid-major polls. We should be ranked in IAA top 25 and I'd rather focus on that.
21. That would have been great...but I think there are too many SUNY schools. You'd end with University of New York Just South of Canada (potsdam). :-)
22. I was driving to school today and saw some creative advertising..... a big UAlbany symbol and slogan saying "Go Great Danes!" on the tank of a huge cement truck. It was awesome and parked for construction at a very busy street.
23. Why make that assumption? Getting community involvement requires getting the word out in the entire community. If I had a username I would invite them, but its a pain in the ass to get admin approval and all that jazz. Maybe some Siena basketball fans would like to take their family to a college football game on saturday...they can't do it at Siena so why not give them the opportunity to do it at Albany???????????
24. Anyone that has a username on the Siena board should post an invite for this weeks football game v. CCSU. I'm sure there are some college football fans over there that wouldn't mind seeing a game. We need to do anything we can to get a large crowd for this huge game.
