  1. Professor thanks for the info but we've been accustomed to you having more inside info than anyone.
  2. rdjc - I understand what you are trying to say about "soup" but this time he jumped to fast and put himself in the soup. His reporting of an ACL and a Redshirt for Jamar was IRRESPONSIBLE. He could have used a word like "possible" but his announcement was a definite and was the only time ACL was mentioned. Who was the team Doctor who pronounced it was an ACL??? I think when someone comes aboard and make their first post it should be a solid post. I can understand DOWNTOWN's concerns. I know soup didn't do it intentionally but it did send shock waves to the Dane Loyalists. My stomach is still upset.
  3. Any word on how Saturday's scrimmage went. It must have been tough to score without Jamar on the court.
  4. To all the experts and speculators - don't jump to conclusions and don't put hear say words in peoples mouths. As far as I know no one with the proper credentials called Jamar's injury an ACL. Upon further review it seems to be some sort of Fracture of the Patella normally about 6 week recovery it's believed Jamar's recovery will be about 4 weeks, give or take a little time. His knee will be immobilized and his recovery is supposed to be complete.
  5. I hope all this ACL talk is false. He's definitely hurt but the extent will not be known for a few days. I just spoke to someone in the athletic department and the department isn't so sure it's the ACL. This is as much hearsay on my part as Soup's announcement. It amazes me that a Siena poster is the first to post a difinitive on a Dane injury.
  6. soup - where did you get your ACL info from. I thought he didn't have his MRI yet.
  7. Tough break for Jamar and the Danes. Hopefully it's not season ending. The article in the Times Union made it sound like he had been having problems with his knees before this incident. Let's hope for the best. With out Jamar it will be very tough for this team to score consistently. Backcourt Iati - shoulder ????? Johnson - a walk on Cheese - a walk on Levi though he would like to play the 2 is by no means a 2G, he can't put it on the floor and get it to the hoop from 17'. That's it for our backcourt !!! It's time to wait and watch and see what happens with his MRI.
  8. Great to hear about Iati but I also heard Wilson hurt his knee in practice, any word???????
  9. Dane 96 Knotts is "most improved" compared to what? I think you read too much into what's printed in the papers. I hope Knotts has a fine year and I hope Wyatt is healthy but until they show up and play well I am not putting my eggs in their basket. Dane 96 I never said Knotts was bad. In fact when in shape he can be very good. Just so you know - I have no inside knowledge of what goes on, I just listen to several people who do have contact within the department and who are very reliable. All I said he was overweight and not in condition and that's what hurt him last year and if he didn't get in shape he wouldn't help the Danes this year. That was the straight on truth. In 6 or 7 weeks of conditioning and practice that (not his skill level) can be changed if the player gets the message and commits to take care of himself. With that said he is the heaviest guy of the active players 250lbs now the roster has been up for weeks so I'll bet he's not that heavy now. Hell Zoellner is huge and he's 270. There was no doubt that when Brown signed him he had high expectations for the kid and felt he should be a solid contributor as a freshman. When he showed up on campus he was way out of shape and that led him to having a very disappointing initial campaign. If he doesn't make a contribution and earn a spot this year he could be in big trouble because with the infusion of talent and bodies next year he may never see the court. If you were to ask Knotts himself he would probably tell you he was immature and didn't do what he was suppose to do last year.
  10. Dane96 - you never cease to amaze me. Most of what was reported was true at the time. Most was basically preseason stuff. Since work outs have officially started about 3 weeks ago. After 3 hours each day of practice things do change. If the truth be known members of the staff at the end of last year were down on certain players and had to wait to see if their attitudes or approaches changed. Evidently Wyatt's health has improved (so far) and Knotts has shown the most improvement, but that's not saying much. Jamar and Levi were good already, Wyatt's health was an unknown, Pipikis is just a nice guy who plugs along. There is nobody else who played last year!!!!!!!! Itai, Martin and Hughes are new, "Q" redshirted last year and Johnson and Cheese are freshman walk ons. Zoellner and Jordan are transfers not eligible to play this year. Now re think what Brown said sure he's much happier with Knotts this year but who did he improve more than? It would be great if Knotts and Wyatt had solid years but what was said early was fairly true and reliable info but of course second hand.
  11. Big Apple All Stars - Sunday, Nov. 16th at 4:00pm It's on the UA website's Basketball schedule. Big Apple AllStars are suppose to be a very fine group of good ex DI players.
  12. AlbanyObserver you are 1000% correct. Jamar is a young player and I'm glad he feels that way but Coach Brown was more realistic earlier when he projected a goal of double digit wins. I did like Brown's comments about last year Phase I this Year Phase II and next year we're complete and ready to compete with Everyone in conference. Lets Go Danes!!! The construction of a DI program continues.
  13. Don't let the score 108-75 decieve you, the Globetrotters have an awesome team that is very physically imposing and extremely talented. The Saints looked small compared to the Globies and I think we are going to be small compared to the saints. The Saints also are very deep in talent.
  14. Who on this years roster will have the biggest positive impact? Janis Pipikis - 6'8" Chris Wyatt - 6'6" "Q" St. Hillaire - 6'6" Jerrad Knotts - 6'6" Jamaal Hughes - 6'8" Todd Martin - 6'7" John Iati - 5'9" Courtney Johnson - 6'1" Marvin Cheese - 6'
  15. Dane 96 as you would say - "CHILL" You're the one who seems to be Hyper Ventillating!!!!!!!! I'm just talking Hoops If my style upsets you - don't read my messages. Go Danes! ps - and your statements are condescending to women.
  16. Dane 96: "You sound like a woman who just cant get enough.....take a moment to catch your breath. I am sure Coach is doing a fine job." Dane 96 I'm not fretting at all, and you should watch your comments about women. Your maturity is very questionable!! If bold bothers you don't read my post. I know the Staff is doing an excellent job. I've also done my research and Coach Brown is a "Stone Cold" winner!!! As an assistant at St. Rose they went to the Elite Eight multiple times and as a Head Coach at Sullivan County Community College he took over a program that was in disarray and took them to the Nationals multiple times including the Championship game once. He hates losing and mediocracy. He will recruit hard all the time and his goal is to get to the top of the AE and make it to the NCAAs. In his first year and a half he has been very patient, has recruited good student/athletes and I believe he will continue to do the same except now I feel like he realizes he is close to his goal and wants to put the final pieces of the puzzle together. Once the team is at the top echelon of the AE he will work hard to keep it there, and he'll do it the right way with solid student athletes. Look at the type of kids he's brought into the program.
  17. I understand what your saying but Knotts and Q are not POWER FOWARDS by any stretch of the imagination. Knotts has no explosiveness around the hoop and Q has athleticism but no muscle or bulk. If we are thinking of winning the AE in a year or two we need a REAL PF who could also play center when Das Big Man is out of the game. Brent Wilson will need a year or so to physically mature for that role. If we are going after it all we need some POWER players unless the transfer is so good that we can't pass on him at any position. Just one fans opinion.
  18. If they're going for another transfer I hope it's a legit power forward type who might be undersized in a big time program but could be a powerful banger in the AE or another "True" center. The only position I'm not comfortable with for next year is PF. Our Backcourt should be real tough Wilson, Jordan, Iati, Bauman, Lillis, Johnson and Cheese Our small forwards should be solid Levine, Knotts, Martin, Q and Lillis Power forward questionable Wyatt (?), Hughes(?) and Wilson Center Zoellner, Hughes (?) The caliber of transfers the staff has brought in so far seems excellent and the idea of 3 true Freshman and a transfer isn't a bad mix.
  19. alum73 on Oct. 28th reported that there will be an exhibition game on Nov. 16th but there is nothing on the Official Albany site to confirm this. People wonder why it's tough to get the fans interested and to turnout but in reality the Athletic Department does nothing to build a support base even interested fans can't get an official updated schedule. I also heard rumors about an away scrimmage anyone have word on this?
  20. Dane96 Posted: Oct 31 2003, 09:52 AM Dane Group: Members Posts: 20 Member No.: 10 Joined: 25-September 03 Downtown....you are so right. That UNI is horrible. WHat is up w/ the airport letters. What's next, the Lakers changing the unis to LAX or Orlando going to MCO? Terrible! Dane 96 - Im not under the weather I think you are - read the above!!!!!
  21. DOWNTOWN - I was just pulling your leg??????? It was nice of you to THANK me for the info you requested on Zoellner!!!!!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN
  22. You guys may not like the new uniforms so what!!!!!!!! Some one had the forsight to get rid of the old ones and add some spice to the program. I'm sure the coaching staff will take a poll on this website before designing new unis. I personally don't care if they play in scrimmage vests. I want players to fill the uniforms. DOWNTOWN - from what I here Das Big Guy has a fundamentally sound, smooth release on his shot - therefore I would surmise he should be a decent Foul Shooter.
  23. Let's not get carried away with "Das Big Guy" I hear that he's better than expected. But let's realize he can't be unstoppable inside, be an excellent high post passer and be a major defensive stopper inside and be in the AE. He'll be great for us but like most big guys when things are going his way he'll look fine but when he travels or commits a dumb fouls the posters will be writing he's a stiff. Take the good with bad and put a double double in the books on most nights. He'll be the best inside player we've had during our DI tenure and that's not really saying much. If he can stay on the court 25 minutes a game we are going to be as competitive as anyone in the AE and that's saying a lot for a team that was decimated by decisions of it's first 2 DI Coaches.
  24. professor - if we are to get to double digit wins I think we need minutes from Hughes, he's our only big body. We can't go out and get clobbered on the boards by 12 a game and think we can compete. As far as next year - Jordan better than Wilson is a powerful statement. It either means Wilson has not improved or gone backwards or Jordan is one hell of a player. For "Das Big Man" I've heard he has really looked pretty good in practice and gets clobbered all the time because that's the only way our guys get handle him. It sounds like he may be better than expected and maybe we'll have a big man who can produce at the double-double level.
  25. DOWNTOWN - it's you!! All caps arched across the chest is common when you are working with 7 letters.
