  1. What a tremendous catch it would be if the Danes could get commitments from both Wilson and his 6'5" teammate. Wilson would be a fine get for the AE and his AAU teammate is said to be athletic and probably the best shooter in the SR. Class in all of Iowa.
  2. In my opinion Hughes will start. I hear he's strong, fairly athletic, solid defensively, rebounds well and is somewhat limited offensively but will give us more offensively than any center we've had for the last few years. As for Wyatt I hope he's healthy all season and plays to his potential which would make him a very solid AE Power player. But I must go on what I have seen and what I have heard from very reliable sources over the past 2 seasons and that in spite of his physical appearance he's soft!!!! and soft players don't make it with Coach Brown. Look at the heart shown by Jamar and Levi and compare it with Banks and Knotts. Banks is gone already and Knotts may be eating his way out of Albany if he doesn't change his ways. Kids like Iati, Martin and Hughes are kids who want to compete to play, they came to UA to play not watch and that's the attitude Brown "LOVES"!
  3. Chris Wyatt is an enigma!!!!!! Right now he is seemingly healthy but they haven't done anything strenuous. Once they start practicing hard every day my bet is he will "WIMP OUT" and open the door for Martin to start by default in game one. If Wyatt is healthy he should start over Martin because it is really tough opening against $iena with 3 new faces in the line up in front of 10,000+. Please don't forget that I have been saying good things about St. Hillaire, if Wyatt or Martin stumble don't be surprised to see "Q" in the starting rotation. He is the most athletic player in the UA program by far.
  4. You better expect 1 of the 2 walk ons to help "THIS YEAR" or Jamar at times will be at the point and I don't think he wants that and I don't think the coaching staff wants that. Next year is a whole different team with 2 transfers and 4 new scholarship players available. By the way I ran into Levi at the game and he had real nice things to say about Zoellner's inside game and "Q's" athleticism.
  5. In all truth it was a beautiful day, a nice crowd and a needed victory. No one has ever said Coach Ford isn't doing a great job, he is. On the real positive side if our running game remains strong (and there is no reason it shouldn't), you have to believe our passing game will improve and if we cut our turnovers (especially interceptions) we'll dominate the NEC.
  6. Turnovers are still there 12 pass attempts 2 interceptions + 2 fumbles 1 lost. In compatitive games that kills. It's not a problem when you're winning against a weak opponent 42-7. With over 400 yards on the ground you should have no problem completing a few passes to your own team.
  7. I left before the end of the 3rd quarter it was 28 -7 Danes in a dominating fashion. Passing game is still non-existent. With out a doubt NEC level of play is where we belong right now. If we won which we should have, I'm sure the football knowledgeables will resurface from the abyss they've been hiding in the last couple of days. I can't believe that there aren't more football supporters on this board.
  8. rdjc - If Iati is healthy and controls the point as expected we should be improved at that position. I loved Oopong but he was tiny, couldn't shoot the 3 well and was a very suspect foul shooter. Iati has unlimited range and is an excellent free throw shooter. With 2 solid, for walk ons guards Jamar's minutes will be cut back to around 30 and Iati's offensive abilities will make teams pay if they want to cheat to Wilson. St. Hillaire could be a real important addition to the Danes. He is 6'6" and very athletic something that the Danes have not had up front and rumor has it Wyatt may be healthy!!!!!!!! - we'll have to wait and watch on that one because he has been sick or injured both years at UA. Add to the mix 6'8" Jamaal Hughes and 6'7" Martin and the Danes may have about 8 or 9 players to use which is much better than the 5 they have had over the past couple of years. 04/05 we'll have 14 players capable of being used in game situations and will be very, very competitive.
  9. Here it is Friday the 26th and not one post about Danes football and tomorrows game. This is why hoops dominates there is more people willing to talk hoops in the off season then there is for football in season. With that said "GO DANES BEAT SACRED HEART"!!!!!!! Let's turn the corner and have a super season!!!! Danes win 24-14!!!
  10. Dane96 - look on the official UA site the new roster is posted. Marvin Cheese is a 6' guard originally from St. John the Baptist HS in West Islip Long Island, NY. I believe he was second Team All LI. A "Very Good" student. He drew interest from some Patriot and Ivy League schools coming out of HS. He decided to go to New Mexico Military Institute and left after 1 year and has surfaced as a walk on at UA. He is eligible immediately because he was a qualifier out of HS and has 3 years eligibility. It's interesting Brown's 2 walk ons are solid players especially for walk ons and both are "Very Good" students. Hope this helps.
  11. With Wilson(3yrs), Iati(4years), Bauman(4yrs starting 04/05), Johnson(4yrs), Cheese(3 yrs I think) and Jordan 2yrs starting 04/05 I don't think Brown will take a point or any guard for next year. I would expect 2 big types - 6'7" and up - solid 4 men and the best athlete available to UA.
  12. Dane Pound - we've been real close before with real good recruits. The staff has really worked hard and got us involved with good players. Now we have to have a break through recruiting class. If we land a couple of 6'8" kids for next year who are solid AE or Better types. WE WILL WIN NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! And by no means am I throwing this season away. If we catch a couple of breaks we could be very competitive this year. It's tough asking Jamar, Levi and the three new guys all to produce at a very high level. We need support from others!
  13. The Dane coaching staff did a great job with what appeared to be only 3 scholarships for players this year (remember 2 schollies went to transfers) they brought in 6 new players who can be contributors. Iati, Martin and Hughes, who may all start plus............ Courtney Johnson 6' 190 (good size) was one of the top 40 seniors in NYC- from Bishop Loughlin of the really tough NYC Catholic League. An excellent student and a great walk On for the Danes. Marvin Cheese at 6' 165 was one of the better players on Long Island 2 years ago at St. John the Baptist HS in West Islip. He also is a fine academic student. Q. St. Hillaire 6'6" very athletic forward. I saw him have an awesome game at the Empires this summer if he plays half as well for the Danes he will be a major contributor off the bench. In fact he will fight for time from Wyatt, Knotts and Pipikis. From what I saw Martin and Levi better watch out because "Q" is a real athlete.
  14. Some one who's knowledgeable please tell me who are we actively recruiting besides Bauman and Brent Wilson? Don't recirculate Rivals Garbage.
