UAlbany 73, Maine 66

 

I think the Danes continue their conference success on the road. The Binghamton game was a confidence booster. Albany wants to prove to the league they are a solid top-four team. Maine is the type of team we could end up matching against in the first-round of the conference tourney. Orono is a tough place to play (a hockey arena), but I think we can get it done. The Black Bears are still adjusting to their new coach. If John Giannini was still coaching this squad, I would give them the upperhand at home. But, I think UAlbany turns the corner again and wins this one. Would be another giant step for the program.

This is gonna be a tough game versus a tough team in a tough Orono. We seem to do pretty solidly on the road considering our schedule. Hopefully that continues and we ride the steam of the good Binghamton win.

If I'm not mistaken Maine's starting point guard is out for a couple of weeks. Their backup played well in a win over UNH but should be interesting to see how he handles the Danes pressure.

Markwood broke wrist aganist SBU and a walk-on(Hight) is playing the point(and seems to be doing quite well). We need to defend the 3's and hit the boards and we could have a nice road win.

They only lost to UVM on the road by a point, and I'm not sure we're at that point yet ... so I'm going to say that we lose this one on the road, by four, but that we rebound for the victory in Albany later in the season.

Tough to win on the road, especially against good teams.

 

I think Albany wins by 8. Maine turns the ball over a lot and Markwood is injured- I think they are starting a walk on. UA will get a good number of fast break points.
