Casey Halloran throws ANOTHER no-hitter as Albany beats UMBC 8-0. The 5-inning win (mercy rule?) saves her arm for tomorrow, weather permitting.

Alum, you have followed athletics more then me, but looking at Halloran's stats, can you say she is the best player ever to play softball at UAlbany?

I haven't followed softball that close, certainly not before the college website appeared, but checking the media guide no pitcher's ever had a year like this. Casey's 25-7 breaks the record of 20 wins, but they rarely played more than 25 games a year until the mid-90s. Safe to say she's having the best pitching year since Chris Cannata's been coaching.

 

Wendy Williams had 2 no-hitters in 1985 and 20 wins for the 21-6 Danes in 1986.

Correct, it's a double-elimination, two losses and you're out. The first-game losers are playing an elimination game now, that winner plays BU later today in a second elimination game. We play that winner tomorrow, and we're undefeated while that team already has its first loss.

Casey Halloran has been tremendous so far, giving up a total of 2 hits in 2 games. Lets hope she continues to be on the top of her game and yet, another UA team wins an AE Conference Tourney.

NCAA is at UMass on Friday, Lehigh and #6 Texas A&M in the other half of the double-elimination regional. Better than last year's at Notre Dame.

thats a big jump for them...we have a good chance at winning a game or two in this regional.

Better than Marist - they have to travel to Tuscon.

based on the breakdown...i have Albany asd the #45 seed in this tournament...a most signifigant improvement compaired the last year
