Readers Poll

Recommended Posts

As printed in today's TU the readers poll on area topics including Best Local Sports Team.

The results:

BEST LOCAL SPORTS TEAM

1. The Albany River Rats (hockey)

2. University at Albany men's basketball team

3. Tri-City ValleyCats (baseball)

I believe that's the first time the Danes have made the list and the first time Siena hasn't. TU Poll

"Happily, this year's entries seemed to be relatively free of the sort of ballot-stuffing that turned 2005's accounting of the Best Theater Company into our own little episode of ''Columbo'' (''I just want to ask one more question, ma'am -- your Labrador didn't actually type the ballot all by himself, did he? Maybe he had some help?''). Either local readers have gotten much more honest, or much more technically adept at covering their tracks. "

Let's see if the T-U's sports coverage will start to reflect the taste of their readers, as gauged by the 1,081 entries.

I think the TU has decided that they would rather spend money to name the Arena the River Rats play in than give better coverage to sports such as the River Rats, The Great Danes and the Valley Cats. I hope I am wrong, but I would be surprised if I am.
