Besides Johns Hopkins, there was the 1980-81 basketball team that beat Potsdam in triple OT, lost to them up there, beat them in OT in the SUNYACS and lost to them in OT in the NCAAs. I don't remember which other years Potsdam won the NC.

 

We didn't beat Ithaca in their football NC years, so I'm done.

At Division I level, NOT INCLUDING TRACK AND FIELD, here is the number of teams Albany HAS PLAYED, and has gone on to win the National Championship:

 

’04 – Syracuse – LAX

’05 – Johns Hopkins – LAX

’07 – Johns Hopkins – LAX

’01 – Miami-Fla. – Baseball

’07 – Maryland – Field Hockey

’02-'03 – Syracuse – Men’s BBall

’05-’06 – Florida – Men’s BBall
