Women over Colgate

Watched webcast. It was ok to watch. We dominated second half and won going away. They pressure the ball for 40 minutes and Colgate wilted under the pressure.

Just back from the game........Women are MUCH improved..alot deeper in the backcourt. Hope they can make some noise in America East

Very good win (86-62) by our ladies but Colgate is picked dead last in the Patriot League and are coming off a 6-25 season.

 

They are 0-3 and in their first 2 losses to Canisius (78-33) and Niagara (78-39) they didn't score 40 points.

 

It helps to know the strength of the competition before making a judgemet.

Agreed that Colgate has struggled this year but at the same time the ladies are much improved. A good win for them. Was it just me or did the crowd seem larger than usual for a ladies game? It may have had something to do with tickets to the mens opener being given away but at least they witnessed a good game. Maybe they will come back.

 

Good job as well to the cheerleaders as they were loud and into the game most of the time. Inprevious years i remember a small number of quiet cheerleaders at the womens games. So cheerleaders good job as well and keep it up!

UA women showed a lot of quickness and energy. If last night was a sample of the season they will be fun to watch. Very high energy and good defense.

Coach Patterson has at least ten players to utilize without a drop in talent. Colgate needed another guard, quickness and more depth--but skill wise they were a good opponent--IMHO--

I know nothing about Albany so don't take this as a knock on the Danes because it isn't. However, regarding Colgate, they are one of the worst teams in the nation. Not only were they 6-25 last year but they returned only one of their top eight players. Some graduated and a number of the returnees quit or can't play for other reasons. New coach is going with virtually all newcomers , many of whom are not nearly ready to play at this level. According to the CU message board, the new coach's goal is to build a winner in 4-5 years.
