"UAlbany Men’s Lacrosse Alumni Game Set for Saturday, October 5th at 1 p.m.

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany men’s lacrosse team welcomes all fans as it hosts its annual alumni game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at John Fallon Field.

Admission is free for all fans to see the first time the Great Danes take the field for a game in the fall ball season. UAlbany will play next weekend in the Yale Scrimmage, taking on tournament host Yale and Quinnipiac.

UAlbany is coming off its best season since 2007, going 13-5 overall with an unblemished conference record and a league title. The Great Danes boasted the top offense in the game, standing number one is goals per game, assists per game, points per game and shooting percentage.

Lyle, Miles and Ty Thompson were honored with All-America status, the first All-Americans for UAlbany since that 2007 season. Lyle Thompson finished first in Division I with 6.65 points per game, earning top ten in goals and assists per game, while Ty Thompson was fourth in DI with three goals per game."

Anyone see the scrimmage against the alumni and care to comment {like maybe a vastly improved defense--wishful thinking}? I would have attended, but I was out of town. I am sure it was a better show than the football team provided [which I also was unable to watch--probably thankfully].

Anyone thinking about going to Yale next week; or is everyone Delaware bound?

As Ernie Banks use to say "beautiful day to play two." I made the 2.5 hour ride to Yale and it was well worth the trip, but was sorry to miss the volleyball win over brook {the girls are really coming on and will be a tough out come tournament time}. Anyhow, the lacrosse team looks ever bit as offensive as last year--maybe even more so. A lot of freshman and redshirt freshman and sophs hit the back of the net. The Thompsons did their thing of course, but for the double header I saw a lot of scoring from others as well. Un-officially we beat Quinnipiac 18-11 {someone else had it only 16-11} and we beat Yale 17-13; after Yale came from way back to tie us at 12. The nice thing was after Yale made its run [i think they were down by 7+ a number of times], it was NOT the Thompson's who got us the W.

The D and goaltending looked good at times, but still inconsistent. Actually, I thought the back-up goalie (not sure of his name #30 but we also had a midie wearing #30) looked even better than Riordan [would be interested to hear other's opinions on the goaltending--I am pretty sure Riordan was in the net during Yale's come back]. Still think we are one or two defensive stud's away from a final four trip. Even though Newhouse looked good in a fight with a yalie, both were ejected--pretty intense for a scrimmage.

Here are highlights from the Yale scrimmage. Thompson's doing their thing as usual. The goal at the 4:55 mark by #45 (Connor Russell I think) was pretty sweet.

Anybody remember when SB was awarded with hosting the AE tournament again this spring?

May 1st and 3rd. I've known about it but just don't remember when they were named host.

Too bad we didn't get the opportunity.

Announcement was last Sept. 27 http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-lacros/spec-rel/092712aaa.html
