1. Thoughts on Madaras? - the transfer from Maryland. I know it's tough to watch linemen but curious as to how he looked.

2. Thoughts on Harding ?

3. What's going on with the visiting stands? Pictures show that they're gone.

Madaras did not suit up. I didn't get the scoop. He was manning the chains.

 

Word on the visiting stands is that they are purchasing a set that are bigger and nicer and that will eventually be repurposed when the full build happens. This is smart. It is what they should've done 20 years ago at University Field.

 

Long term planning. I like to see it.

Interesting that he mentions Shane Sweeney, who had a terrific high-school career, as someone who is making noise for the number two spot that right now is a battle between Ryan Smith and Dan Harding (Transfer). Only bodes well for us that we seem like we have some serious depth with what we have coming in, what was thought of of Dan Harding, what Ryan Smith is putting up, and that Shane Sweeney is starting to figure it out.

 

MORE INTERESTING, was that it was not Kyle Downer who was not mentioned as the fourth guy. Early on in the Spring Practices, Coach mentioned some players moving positions. I wonder if Downer was one of those guys. Remember, this kid was also a RB...and he's very quick..and possesses great size at 6'3 and 220lb. Maybe he moves to the other side of the ball as a Safety or LB?

We were sitting behind Madaras' parents, they said he had a sprained ankle.

I heard Kyle Downer transferred to JMU.

 

Confirmed. He was offered by JMU out of high school and chose us over them. Coaching change probably sent him packing.
