US News Ranking

We dropped to #146 in the US News rankings—down from #129 last year.

We're tied with Adelphi.

Binghamton is now #86, Stony Brook is #96, and Buffalo is #99.

I hope the administration is working to figure out how to reverse this.

We're a distant fourth among the research centers, and Geneseo is also much more competitive.

Back in the 90s, we were right behind Binghamton as the best SUNY.

Didn't realize Binghamton was such a good school. Will have to stop making for of the entire city when talking to friends who live there, lol. I just find it very depressing...much like Utica and most of Syracuse. Rochester and Buffalo are okay.

Actually, a school like Northeastern is a good example that you can improve. In the past decade, they've targeted areas of weakness that hurt them in the rankings, especially alumni giving rate, which hurts many good schools. Anyway, this year they skyrocketed to #39. Not expecting Albany to work a miracle like that but I hope it's a priority with the administration to look at what they've done and get creative. It helps no ones resume to have Albany perceived as a top 200 school.

What really grinds my gears about these rankings is that it's damn near impossible for any school to make a meaningful jump, yet you can fall 17 places within the span of a year? Total and complete bull$iena.

Except for, of course, SUNY Polytechnic, which went from 122 to 18 in one year in its category.

That building should be ours. I'm sure with that, we'd be top 100. Idiots. Practically gave it away.

I think you're right. It has set us back a lot. All that momentum is hard to replace.
