With the recent success of the basketball programs, it's hard to not see some folks calling Brown/Abrahamson about leaving. That being said, do you think a conference 'upgrade' would coax them both into staying and continuing to build?
-
So where can one see this game if staying in Albany? Will it be on ESPN3/ESPNU/TW Sports? What about those 'viewing parties' someone mentioned? What came of that?
-
Funny that Coach Brown travels on Brown Coach's....hahahaha.
-
Well, we beat them again. Wow. Hooley has caught fire. Johnson with another amazing effort.
Brown has their number in the tournament. Simple as that.
-
For what it's worth, we always seem to beat them when it matters. Here's to hoping that trend continues...

I don't care about 'letting up' to take it easy on a team. If you can't hang, you can't hang. Teams shouldn't run the clock out to avoid scoring because you suck. Kudos to Coach Abe and any other coach who plays till the end! Hate teams that 'take it easy' out of 'respect'. Might as well just call the game and create a mercy rule.

Too bad we likely used up our 'awesome game' against a team like UMBC instead of a team like Vermont. lol.

Hahah ^^

UA failed us in this Nano business. It's a damn shame. Having that school as part of UA would have done WONDERS for all of our degrees, future students, recruiting, all sorts of things...losing them is a big freakin deal.

So how many games do you all think we'll win this year? 3-4?
-
We suck.
Better luck next year. Maybe some of the new kids will be better fits/players than the current crop. Oh well. Can't wait for football, at least there the only place we can go is 'up'.
-
Maybe they are contemplating not doing the deal? lol.
Also, lol @ the custody of Damien bit.
-
Anyone know a place that is ranking our signing day? How do we compare to our peers?
-
Awesome stuff! That is indeed a big big tackle.

As many have said...this was ugly. Both teams played bad, but UVM played less bad. As Click said, we don't have a single bonafide offensive go to player. Hooley is hit or miss as is Sam. While Suero tended to be a bit careless in his decision making...you at least had a good chance of him either scoring or getting to the foul line. Or Ambrose. Or Wilson. We need to find a kid who can get his no matter what, so when the rest of the team isn't scoring (like today) he can snap the team out of the funk.
Maybe with football being on the up and up, eventually we'll start getting better athletes in our other sports.

No TU editorial?
That being said...as a current student as well...YES!

I agree with Dane. Upgrade Football, then Basketball (men's and women's) as those are the 'cash cows' here. Once those programs are doing well and being successful/making revenue...then worry about sports like baseball which likely don't generate much revenue for the school but cost more than anything to maintain. We probably barely break even in that sport.
Then again, I'm not a big baseball fan (although I do watch the highlights in october) or a big soccer fan, etc.
Our main four sports (and thus concerns/priorities for upgrading) are FB, BB, LAX, and T&F. That's it. All the others can wait until funds are available BUT not at the expense of the big four. I realize many people might disagree with me but that's fine, we can agree to disagree.

Ugh...why is it only the end of January...

Sucks being a night student, I will miss this game. But, I'll be there for Vermont. Going 1-1 would be nice...

Iorizzo on Wyland today said he got the impression that UAlbany officials would rather have the expansion sooner than later.
Well, duh!

That's the article in the first post, tehehe.

I hope all of you are right...I'll be honest I didn't start *really* following the football team until the off-season before last year. Just getting into it, but I've been watching college and pro football for years...so...I don't know the history of these coaches or players, etc.

I prefer a ring on my hand (if I was a player) than that 'swag' all day, erry day. YOLO! hah.

And wouldn't special teams coordinator oversee the kickers?
That being said, not a fan of McCarthy being retained as QB/Passing Game coach...looks like we won't be throwing over the middle AGAIN next year. Everything will be a screen pass (also rare) or an out route. Obviously the OC/HC would over ride him on calls, but if can't teach the kid(s) to throw those types of passes, those plays won't be successful.

I think after being here for 13 years or whatever it is...Brown could have left long ago and hasn't. I think he'll be around a while. Kate on the other hand, I think she could possibly leave but it would be great for both of them to be 'lifers' so to speak.
