  1. I've had the same problem with CAA Zone I've also had the same problem
  2. In those pictures I think you are comparing the conceptual design to the actual design. If there are only 4,000 permanent seats in Phase 1, I still do not understand where the potential 20,000 would fit. Maybe I am still missing something. Let's continue this on Saturday! Thank you for asking the question. I also didn't understand how you get an "upper deck" into the home side. This phase includes an upper deck and it's only 2,000 (+/-). I understand we can add another level of suites but that doesn't mean more outside seats. I hope it's expandable to 25,000 but as was asked earlier, how does this actual design line up with the conceptual design? Is this a phase one of the conceptual plan or did we need to go into another direction and there is no reasonable way to get back to the conceptual plan? Of course anything is possible with unlimited money but the question is can we reach the conceptual build out plan without major changes to the actual plan?
  3. Brutus, how much cost and effort (time) is there to convert the bearm or visitor seating into permanent seating?
  4. I'm concerned. DaneZone is amateurish. There is no sync'd audio and video. The website is a bunch of ads. Fox provided exposure. Did we choose this course or did we get kicked off of Fox?
  5. You have to ask if the word "state" should even be in the university name when the government is contributing a lousy 6% or 13%. There are other funding sources greater than the state’s 13% (87% more to be exact). Replace “state” with that source. I bet corporate funding is higher when you add in Global Foundries, IBM with traditional sources for grants such as Howard Hughes International, Carnegie Foundation etc. With some jest I propose “Corporate University of New York”. Why not if they are indeed giving more? Reflect reality. Private schools like Siena receive Pell Grants and other government funding and yet they are not a "state" university nor do they have to comply with all of their bureaucracy. It feels like the university is just being hobbled. It can grow with adequate state funding. It can grow as a private university. It cannot grow as a 13% funded university. This standoff between the left that wants full funding regardless of actual budget realities and the state that cannot afford it is killing UA.
  6. I heard on NPR that UCLA's business school would like to stop taking state funding. The state of California contributes a lousy 6% of their budget. With that 6% comes a laundry list of bureaucracy. Is it worth it? UCLA Anderson School of Business MBA is $48k.. It would mean only a small tuition increase but a ton of flexibity. The state isn't funding anyway so why not? Virginia has already done so and their both amazing schools.
  7. If the Giants do leave, I hope Coach Tom Coughlin publicaly calls the Times Union and their opposition out specifically as the main factor for leaving. God forbid the TU not take every opportunity to throw UA under the bus.
  8. Who needs enemies with friends like this? The TU has been against its home town SUNY Center for too long. I wonder if the Daily News would say the same thing about Stony Brook? Answer, 'No' they would not.
  9. A very good point. We need to this level of facilities even in FCS. I hope the Giants make facilities a non-negotiable requirement and the state relents. That would be the first tangible outcome outside of some air conditioning. I hope the Giants force the issue but don't get me wrong, photos of a very full stadium watching the Giants would be good for us. Photos of a very full stadium for any event would be good for us. It gives us an argument to expand to a reasonable major FCS level facility. We'll see what plays out for the year.
  10. Man...this is all kinds of beautiful... I agree. Beautiful. How much did the state provide to down state projects like Yankee Stadium and the Giants? This would be a couple bucks for upstate at a state university. This would really help NY state college athletics. Everyone wants the Giants to stay. Throw a bone to upstate! Make it happen Governor.
  11. As everyone said, UAlbany doesn't have the money. If we did, it would be better put to work on the stadium. The City of Albany also doesn't have the money. The only resource with the money is the state aka Governor Cuomo. It's up to him. Gov Cuomo do you want the Giants in Albany? In 16 years all UA has gotten was some air conditioning. This would be the first big win. Especially if we could get a Youngstown State facility. It makes sense because as others pointed out we could reconfigure SEFCU and remove the track. UA Basketball, UA Track, UA Football and the Giants all win. The governor can make it happen if he wanted to.
  12. How much did the state provide for SEFCU air conditioning? I see this as great situation for UA. If everyone wants to keep the Giants then a politician needs to come through with some tax payer money. The politician looks like a hero. UAlbany gets a great facility. Win-win. Cuomo, please stand up. If the state doesn't come through then maybe the relationship should end. I'm really hoping the state comes through with a Youngstown facility but I'm sure if we do something it will be on the cheap.
  13. The UUP would be the last group's advice I would take. They think SUNY is simply a welfare program with education being a byproduct. They are so dsyfunctional they fight changes that would be beneficial to them such as higher tuition. More tuition = more professor jobs and more resources. Yet they still complain. Take their advice and you'll have a complete disaster on your hands... the good news is maybe President Phillip would be with us for life :-)
  14. Finally. The news I've been waiting to hear. CAA Football and a new stadium. Huge! Now to make the most of it.
  15. What would phase 2 of the stadium look like? What would be your guess of what makes sense? Finish the lower bowl? What are the odds of a FBS team next year? It may be early to have a FBS lined up considering scholly ramp up and short notice.
  16. All indications are that UA will be playing CAA football in 2013. It also looks like the first phase of the stadium should be completed within a year, also 2013. My question to you, what is the next milestone for UA football outside of playing well and trying to win the conference (that is an assumed milstone). I see two milestones. 1) Our first FBS game. We need to have at least 1 per year both for revenue, name exposure and fan interest. SBU has two this year (Army and 'Cuse). Any guesses of prefences on who that would be? 2) Stadium expansion. I know it's not even built yet but over the next 5 years I would like a second phase put in. At $18M this phase is 1/2 the cost initially planned fort a phase one a few years ago, which was $36M. SBU is sure to have another phase dialed up in five years. What makes sense for a phase 2? Visitor side permanent seats or second row of boxes? What is feasible to see in a five year period?
  17. The Newsday article is getting picked up. Fox and the Chicago Tribune are also reporting it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sns-tsn-agn-caa-expansion-20120806,0,7080287.story
  18. I hope the Newsday article is correct and we get the official announcement next week. We've all been waiting a long time for the jump. My wait is almost at 20 years. In 1993 I would imagine spots for a stadium and then march of distances to see if it would fit. I was horrified when I attended my first D3 game. My high school had a better field and more fans. At long last, we have arrived.
  19. I'm so excited. A news conference next week according to the story.
  20. What a sad turn of events. One would have to think the idiot that rleased the information is a UA stakeholder and thus a supporter of the university so it is so sad that the opposite outcome came to fruition. Instead of helping the university they significantly hurt it. The person should be fired, plain and simple.
  21. The only candidate left worth pursuing is Carlo Montemagno of Cincinnati.
  22. Ballard is out as well as our hopes and desires. I'm not liking where this is going.
  23. It pays to be fully scholly and thus be a counter. Just ask Maine. http://bangordailynews.com/2012/07/31/sports/university-of-maine-football-team-scores-more-than-500000-for-two-bcs-games-in-2013/
  24. I don't like where this is going. Only 1 candidate has a science background and he/she will be managing a $16B nano mega complex?!? Not going to happen... the state will take it away before it turns it over to amateur hour. We're going back to a "Karen Hitchcock" level of president. Carlo is our only science candidate. Steve at least brings a neutral or better position to athletics so that's something. I'd cut the other three now. I'd rather not have a president than Karen Hitchcock. I think we all remember those days.
  25. This website has an artist rendering of a new complex and it clearly says University at Albany... but the main article doesn't mention Albany. Is this a new project or a website typo? http://athleticbusiness.com/articles/article.aspx?articleid=3867&zoneid=15 "The future University at Albany Athletic and Recreation Complex (Renderings courtesy of Brinkley Sargent Architects)"
