  4. GreatDanes84, Where's the link to their message board? I tried a couple places and came up empty. Thanks for the headsup. It's nice to receive credit from a major program for a mid-major. Let's hope the Danes are as sharp tonight as they were last night. We just can't let anyone score 39 points on us. Go, Danes! 10340[/snapback] At the top of the Winter Sports forum there's a "opponnent message board" thread. There's links to Oakland and Florida's message boards there.
  5. You said it although I'm rooting for St. Peter's tonight. Amzing how deep this team is. Put up 90 points with Jordan having a bum ankle. Hopefully Jamar is OK.
  6. Thanks for the link. Thought I'd mention the chat room tonight for anyone who'll be online and listening on the radio. Just click the "Live Chat" link on the top right corner of the board and it will take you to the chat room.
  7. Just curious is there a web broadcast for 980? I don't see one on their website.

  9. Good idea. I really like how the volleyball announcer tries to fire up the crowd. I'm not sure Brown would be the person to email that to as I don't know how much he has to do with that kind of stuff. I would almost think that would be a better suggestion for Don Ostrom or Cara White. If you do mention it to them you might want to suggest bringing the Albany Cup at that first home game. At least have it on display in the Hall of Fame Room or something.
  10. I truly doubt there is some vast Siena media conspiracy. They've been around and are established and it's going to take some time and accomplishments to get that kind of attention locally. This year should be a really, really, good start to doing that. Speaking of promotions I saw my first Albany basketball commercial of the season on TV last night. It was promoting season tickets and the home opener against Sacred Heart. It finished with a clip from last year's Siena game with Zoellner dunking over a couple of Saints. Great to see, I hope they show it over and over.
  11. You can pick more than one player from the same team. You can have all eight guys from the same team if you want. You also can pick the same players someone else has.
  12. My picks: Starting five Jamar Wilson, Albany Levi Levine, Albany, Andre Heard, Bing Aaron Cook, Hartford Bobby Santaigo, SBU Bench Lucious Jordan, Albany Kenny Adleke, Hartford Ernest Turner, Maine
  13. In hopes of livening up the basketball season a little more I'm asking everyone to pick an AE fantasy team. We'll keep track of them over the season with the winner possibly getting an undisclosed prize (or I may just buy you a beer at the conference tournament). The Rules (I realize there are several lawyers on the board who will probably find loopholes somehow): 1. All players must play men's basketball in the America East Conference. 2. Four of the teams in the conference play 26 games while the rest play 27. If you pick anyone from Bing, BU, UNH or Vermont (26 games) they will play a mythical 27th game with stats averaged from the other 26 games. 3. Preseason (exhibition) and post-season games don't count. 4. Games against D2 teams DO count if they are regular season games (See Maine's schedule) 5. Pick 8 players. A starting 5 and 3 bench players.Winners will be the starting 5 only. In case of a tie the bench players will decide after that. If they're tied after the bench players are factored in then I give up-It's a tie. Should one of your starting 5 be lost for the season due to injury (and only injury) you can sub from you bench. Scoring A combination of total points scored plus one point for every assist and one point for every rebound. An Example: Say 3 members of your starting 5 are Statefan, Dane Pound and Alumni92. Their stats for a game are : Statefan-12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists. Dane Pound-23 points, O rebounds, 0 assists and 10 turnovers. Alumni92-10 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists and a technical foul. The scoring for that game would be Statefan 25 points, Dane Pound 23 points (plus a lecture about team play) and Alumni92 28 points.! Got it? Alright! Post you picks right in this thread. Give the full players name and team to avoid any confusion. Here's a sample: Starting 5 Player X, UMBC Player X, Vermont Player X, UNH Player X, Albany Player X, Stony Brook Bench Player X, UMBC Player X, Bing Player X, Maine You have until tipoff on Wednesday to post your teams. Good Luck!

  17. Michael Knight 6'3 Guard St. Petersburg CC Albany adds juco combo guard... By Van Coleman van@hoopmasters.com Will Brown and his staff at Albany added their fourth and final recruit of the fall in 6-3 juco combo Michael Knight... According to a source close to the program, 6-3 185-pound Michael Knight from St. Petersburg CC, FL is headed to Albany. Knight who is a former FutureStars camper and Iowa resident, transferrd as a sophomore in high school to Seattle Prep in Washington, then signed with MD Baltimore County out of high school before transferring to St. Petersburg CC. Knight is an athletic combo with point guard skills who can really knock down the perimeter jump shot. He has size and quickness to make an immediate impact at Albany. He chose Albany over interest from Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M, Santa Clara, Samford, Florida International, and St. Bonaventure. Gabe DeArmond JucoJunction.com Editor St. Petersburg combo guard Michael Knight transferred to the Titans' program from University of Maryland-Baltimore County. He will be headed back east next season. "He decided Albany was his school of choice," said coach Earnest Crumbley. "He was up there on a visit in September." Knight held offers from Samford, Bethune Cookman, Santa Clara, Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M and Florida International. South Florida and Auburn also made a push late, but Knight spurned those schools for Albany. Albany will be getting one of the better shooters in the Sunshine State. "He really strokes the basketball," said Crumbley. "He has unlimited range. 29 feet is a layup to him." Knight is a true combo guard, but will play mostly at the two for St. Pete. "We run up and down the floor," Crumbley said. "When he can make open jump shots, our post guys become very available." Knight played three years at Seattle Prep, WA. He was All Metro as a junior and senior. He was a McDonalds All American nominee. He was the leading scorer as a senior(16.3 ppg) for an AAU team that had Martell Webster(NBA), Spencer Hawes(Washington), and Chad Troyer(Miami of Ohio) on the roster. Knight will have three years to play two at Albany.
  18. It seems fitting to recall that he did a "Nobody cares about UAlbany football" column before that season began also. Then we had over 6,000 people at the first game. I'm of UAlum72's opinion that at least some of the 350 watching volleyball would have been at the RACC were that game not going on at the same time. In terms of importance the conference game against UNH was probably more important than the exhibition basketball game. I'm not sure Ettkin knew about the volleyball game. It's unfortunate he didn't take the short walk over because he probably would have been surprised at how good the atmosphere has become over there. He also probably could have talked to one of the many ticket people in the RACC to find out that season ticket sales are doing really well. As far as the game went I second a lot of what UA66 said. I've really been impressed with Siggers the two times I saw him. What really surprised me last night was that he lead the team in assists. Seems like a heady player. I think he might be the first guard off the bench at least until Lillis gets back. I was also surprised about Zoellner's rebounding numbers (11). He did get a bunch of offensive rebounds on his own misses. I'll live with offensive miscues because his presence makes the team better and removes the opponets post game. I'd like to see him rebound more aggressively. I was really impressed with Brent and Covington's rebounding and would hope at least one of them will be on the floor most of the times. They really excelled grabbing the tough ones in traffic.

  20. The Meet The Team stuff is up! Meet the Team
  21. Glad you found us GD84. After freezing my butt off putting those signs up outside the RACC I had hoped they'd help get at least one person on board. I'll have to try something different this year.
  22. Short of winning a national championship (I'm kidding) just curious what everyone would have to happen this year to consider it a success. In order of importance here's mine: 1. Beat Siena 2. Have the first winning season at the DI level 3. Beat Boston U. 4. Win the Conference Championship 5. Sell-out the RACC for the BPG
  23. Just curious how everybody got here (I'm glad you did).
  24. I got there a little late tonight but I thought tonight's meet and greet was well done. I hoped to see more people there tonight but it was respectable. I almost suspect there was too much going on this week in Daneland-V-ball with Cuse on Tues, exhibition on Friday and a football game on Saturday may have overwhelmed some. Thought Trina may have tried to soften expectations this year but she didn't as far as I was concerned. She seemed to think some of the younger players are up to the challenge they're going to face this year. Chatted briefly with Higy and freshman walk-on Sarah Hughes who actually sought us out and were quite friendly. Brown did a nice job pointing out Albany's all-time leading scorer Gary Holway who was in attendance. A lot of what he talked about is familar to those who follow the program closely. He mentioned some nagging injuries to players but didn't get into specifics. Several of us had a good conversation with Pat Fillen. Really personable guy who seems very eager for the season to start. Easy to see why he was so popular in Vermont.
