  1. I think it would be a good idea for UA to work with the city to build new facilities at UA and share those with the city. Not sure how HS football works in Albany but where I live, HS football is played on Friday nights and JV and 9th grade games are played on the fields on Saturday mornings. They can do the same thing with baseball. I saw on ESPN that UVM shares their baseball stadium with a minor league team.
  2. Patch, Thanks for the post on football. I can understand some offensive challenges as they transition to passing more - I think that a shotgun makes a lot of sense as it gives the QB more time to read the defense and watch the patterns unfurl. Also, none of the running backs have much experience. Hope they can pull it together in time for opening game in a few weeks. On an unrelated note, I went to the Georgia Tech intrasquad scrimmage yesterday. There were about 3k or 4k fans in the stands - mostly parents, friends of the players and some students (the dorms opened yesterday and school starts next week). One of the people behind me was saying that he was surprised there were so few people - I was thinking that the attendance was pretty good especially compared to some of the 1AA games in the northeast (not just the NEC, but A10 / CAA as well).
  3. Not sure if this appliesto Stellato, but the class years are misleading for pretty much all the football players as most are redshirted - I doubt that many would come back as seniors unless they have a grant or need an extra semester to graduate.
  4. My understandind is that they have hired some additional staff and are in the process of outsourcing the website. Doesn't help not but I do feel like there is a plan.
  5. How has the summer gone with the Rowdies - I think there was going to be activities with the new student orientation (could be wrong about that)?
  6. If Albany can successfully pass the ball and play better defense they will be one of the top teams. I agree with the website comment - the NEC also has a television package for their sports that is much better than the AE. I wonder if the NEC commissioner was looked at for the AE position. This is the football TV package - it's only 3 games but one is Albany at Central Connecticut. NEC football television package
  7. Missed the show - what did Campbell say?
  8. Another article http://www.rochesterinsider.com/apps/pbcs....RTS03/508030338
  9. Campbell is still injured - calf. I think he has been out most of the week. He missed a practice vs. the Bills yesterday and will miss another today. Maybe he and Geir had a chance to compare notes
  10. They are looking to outsource management of the website - I think that once that is done, that will allow for faster updates and better website features.
  11. Interesting quote - not sure it sheds any light over Driscoll's situation.
  12. Statefan - I am counting on you to provide detailed coverage of the event. Can you borrow UA72's digital camera and get some shots of the new players?
  13. I think Brown does a very good job at AAU recruiting over the summer - Lillis and Brent Wilson were offered at about this same time two years ago when they were in the AAU championships in Orlando. Connelly was offered last summer during the AAU season as was Covington. What's even more interesting - as I recall, Lillis was injured for some of the tournament, Brent Wilson came off the bench, Covington wasn't getting the minutes that some thought he would get as his AAU team was very good and I don't want to leave off David Baumann who was also offered after nailing a bunch of 3's in AAU games. Next step is to get a couple of kids from the Albany AAU team - I think they are pretty good and Jordan played for them when he was in HS. Give Brown a multi year extension
  14. Not sure why you need a press conference to announce a one year contract extension - unless there is something more to it. I am sure Brown wants more than a 1 year commitment and the program supporters do as well.
  15. Just spent 30 minutes on my treadmill (need to do it more frequently) and watched the And1 show - they played in Miami, Orlando and Tampa and Earv was on fire. Not sure how many points he had, but he made a lot of baskets - didn't shoot like the guy that made just 56 baskets his entire senior year shooting 34%. Yes, I know it's a different kind of game.
  16. This is a quote from Campbell about that fan support For perspective 15k is more fans than will see UA at University Field for an entire season.
  17. According to fox 23 - 1 year contract extension thru March 2007. No dollars mentioned.
  18. Nostalgia aside, 1. I thought Hall was injured and would not be ready to play this year 2. Is the $3 million an endowment? or is it an annual amount for a football budget? Doing rough calculations scholarships alone would be in the $1.5 to $1.8 million range. 3. Did Geir talk about the Bills and how that was going? 4. They will need to make a plan for the next few years as the NEC contract ends in the next couple of years and there isn't a 1AA conference available for affiliation right now.
  19. Good Post. I was in Vegas last month at a conference playing Texas Hold-em after some of the sessions. Anyway, I was wearing an Albany Polo shirt - as it turns out two of the players (there are 10) at the table had gone to UA. One asked if I knew Tom Jacobs - I said that he was a very good football player in the early 80's when I was at UA but that I hadn't seen him in about 20 years (I think he works with him now. The bad news is that I was killing the table and they got me distracted - I lost a boatload of cash in the next few hands. Also, I was in the Delta crown room at one of the NYC area airports a few months back . Not sure how we got on the topic, but we ended up talking about D3 football. I told him that I went to Albany in the early 80's and played for Ford - he is friends with a guy Ed Ragule that played then. I remembered the name, wouldn't recognize the face - but he was a senior when I was a freshman and we both played the same position. Not necessarily relevant to your post but Jacobs (and Dave Soldini) both played when I did. In hindsight, I wasn't nearly as good as they were - I spent a couple of years playing in the Friday afternoon JV games.
  20. He is in the directory as Assistant AD - Media relations. The directory appears to have been updated so it looks like he has a job. My question is what does this mean? There are new titles and changed responsibility but is there something else?
  21. I do appreciate you providing info. There will probably not be any other public disclsures of info until the schedules are announced or as they get closer to practice in October.
  22. I thought Brent was 34. Are Zoellner, Brent and Lillis on campus this summer?
