  1. I don't think Clark needs to up his game. Kid can ball. He just needs to play within his game, trust his teammates, and not try to do too much. Anderson should help with that.

Imagine what Clark's numbers would have looked like if the bigs had the hands to handle half of the passes he dished down low. Clark probably had 2-3 assists per game go through people's fingers. That's not putting the bigs down either. Some of those passes were lasers. As freshman they were growing and learning. Hopefully they can handle more after summer workouts.

I started a thread on Clark near the beginning of last season. Go back and watch the video in that thread. That shows his character and why I have rooted for him so hard and defended him on the board.

What does the team target with the last ship? Best athlete available? Young 3?

Guard: Clark, Healey, Anderson, Rizzuto (80 minutes / 20 min each)

Swing: deSousa, Jerotic, Hutcheson (40 minutes / 13.3 min each)

Big: Lulka, Hank, Lauderdale, French, Doherty (80 minutes / 16 min each)

I gotta say, that's a pretty solid looking, exciting lineup

I say this ever year, but finding time for everyone and keeping everyone happy and productive has to he the hardest part of coaching at this level, especially when you have what looks, on paper, to be a deep team.

It isn't Bown's style, and I don't know that he has ever felt confident enough in his team to do it, but I would love for him to run a more up-tempo offense with a more aggressive defense, subbing more often, and going deeper. Want more butts in the seats and more fans? Run a team when you have the horses and make a more fun game to watch. I personally love the grinding 55-49 games, but most fans want the speed of a 88-79 game.

  3. Its become standard for underclassman that feel they have a shot to get drafted eventually. Attend now to get official work with NBA scouts. It gets them on the radar and let's them know exactly what NBA teams feel they have to work on. I doubt either will be drafted and both will return, but they will know exactly what they need to do this coming year.

That said, I think Huerter assumed he would return, but this exercise raised his stock enough to enter the draft, so you never know.

  4. I am confident in the guard situation the team has now. I think Clark will make another jump and have a huge senior year, either starting or from the bench, but I know a lot of people on this board are convinced we need another point guard. If the team goes after one, I really hope it is a 4-year kid that can grow with the team. That said, anyone hear anything about this kid?

Brent Wilson is tweeting about him, and he went to South Kent like Malachi de Sousa. Would have 2-years remaining.

  5. Looks like the NYS Contract Reporter released bid for this today: https://www.nyscr.ny.gov/business/adsPubView.cfm?ID=71EA9688-1E94-4F28-BDEF-9BF9A33B60DA

  6. I like the grad transfer rule. Get a degree, then transfer. Don't get a degree, honor your contract (free school in exchange for playing a sport) or be forced to sit a year. Do what's best for you. Kids that walk on are allowed to transfer without sitting a year (like Flory) as they didn't have a contract: they didn't receive a contract with the benefit of free school.

I'm curious, and I don't know the rule. Someone clarify for me if you know:

If the 3 Australians graduate in 3 years, after redshirting, could they theoretically transfer after next season then have 2 years of eligibility at their new school? Something tells me that Cam would be a hot commodity after next season with 2 years of eligibility left.

If this is going to become more and more prevalent, and I'm Will Brown, I'm recruiting heavily the highest level prospects that live in NYS and come from families that would qualify for the NYS free tuition and convince them to walk-on. Create a mid-major one and done program. Guys that would come in to the league as an instant POY candidate in the AE, but might sit in year 1 at a Duke. Then transfer up to wherever they want to go. If their freshman year doesn't work out they can always stay for year 2, get free tuition again, then transfer.
