Vermont comes into this contest with an overall record of 16-5 and 6-0, in conference. Are they unbeatable in conference? No, but UAlbany will have to bring both offense and defense to the game if they want a chance to win. No doubt, Patrick Gym will be at capacity this evening. The America East appears, in some situations, has paired. up road games in a manner similar to ECAC Hockey. The UAlbany MBB weekend to Maine then New Hampshire and the Maine WBB weekend trip to UAlbany then Binghamton. There is an effort on to control travel expenses.

A critical game, I have not seen or heard any updates on Meghan Huerter or Lily Phillips injury status. Vermont WBB comes into this game with an overall record of 14-7 and 6-1 in conference record. The real situation is there any truth to what Siena's Athletic Director is saying privately to select alumni, sponsors, associates and donors about the future of their MBB coach.

The MVP Arena opened on January 30, 1990, so tomorrow this arena will have served our community for 34 years. I cannot remember the last time I attended an event at the MVP arena. Beyond the face-lift to front entrance, I am not certain much else has changed in 34 years. The arena seating needs replacement and the concessions area needs to be gutted and updated. As for the MVP Arena being a basketball venue, no worse, no better than JMA Wireless Dome, which is now 42 years old, which I have attended events at in the last couple years.

My sister in law has stated the number of fans in the stands are far less than the reported number. I briefly watched the game, the stands appeared relatively empty.

our namesake Great Danes supporting Great Danes in need

UALBANY MEN’S BASKETBALL Danes look to stop 3-game losing streak UAlbany tries to bounce back quickly after defeat at Maine, set to meet New Hampshire By Pete Dougherty UALBANY AT NEW HAMPSHIRE When: Noon Saturday Where: Lundholm Gymnasium, Durham, N.H. TV/Radio: ESPN+ (streaming), WTMM 104.5 FM Lori Van Buren/Times Union UAlbany coach Dwayne Killings said there’s no time to look back at the loss at Maine with a game against UNH on Saturday. Jim Franco/Times Union UAlbany’s Jonathan Beagle said road wins go a long way to helping a team secure a home berth for the postseason. Time waits for no one, a point University at Albany men’s basketball coach Dwayne Killings hopes to get across to his players as their season heads into the home stretch. Barely 39 hours after losing its third straight America East game, UAlbany returns to action at noon Saturday to face New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. The wounds from Thursday night’s 81-73 loss at Maine, a game in which they whittled an 18-point second-half deficit to three before running out of gas, are still fresh as the Great Danes prepare for a solid Wildcats squad. “We talk to our guys about time,” Killings said. “Time moves really quick. When we first had the conversation, I think we have 23 practices now left, 12 shootarounds and 12 games. That’s it for the season, and it moves fast. That surprised some people because they look at everything day-by-day. Don’t waste time. This is why you play. Let’s not waste a single second of it.” The Danes have just 12 regular-season games and what they hope is an extended run in the America East Tournament remaining. While that is far ahead of last season’s 8-23 team that failed to qualify for the league tournament, UAlbany’s outlook has changed in a flash. Less than a week and a half ago, UAlbany (10-10, 2-3) was one of four conference unbeatens. Now the Danes have lost to three of the America East’s four top teams, and their only victories — vs. NJIT and Binghamton — have come against teams still winless in the conference. “You’ve got to renew your mind,” Killings said. “My whole message to the team is we have to embrace doing hard things. Our focus has to move from Maine to New Hampshire, because that’s the next game. You can’t spend a lot of time dwelling on this last one.” New Hampshire (12-7, 4-2), which has won three straight, stands in the way of UAlbany ending its three-game skid. The Wildcats are coming off a 77-74 home victory over Binghamton and already have beaten Maine, NJIT and UMBC, all on the road. “Road games are super important in this league,” said Danes sophomore forward Jonathan Beagle, who is expected to play Saturday despite rolling his ankle in the loss at Maine. “If you want to have a home playoff game, you got to win road games (in the regular season).” The top four in the regular-season standings will play host to first-round tournament games in March. New Hampshire is currently in fourth. Maine and UAlbany are tied for fifth, although the Black Bears have the tiebreaker because of their victory Thursday night. The Danes will finish their three-game road stretch next Thursday night against Vermont, which has won 20 consecutive conference games, the longest streak in the nation. “On the road, I would love a little more time to prep and have a shootaround,” Killings said of the short span between games, “but it is what it is. You’ve got to get out there and be ready to win the game.”

New Hampshire comes into this context at 12 -7 overall and 4-2 in conference. Considering the funk the UAlbany MBB is in and the Wildcats ability to win at home spells a diaster for the Great Danes. mbb 2023 Game #20: 1/25/24 - 6PM at Maine
cwdickens replied to Eli's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
Not the first time, we have seen a post similar to this. Brutally right to the point of our MBB problems. Jonathan Beage has been in a four-game funk ... I have been left wondering: What was Killings thought process in not starting Jonathan Did something happen between him and Killings and/or one of the assistants? Did something happen between him and one or more of his teammates? I did not watch the stream of last night's game as I attended the WBB game against Maine .... yes, I agree Coach Mullen time with us may come to the end of this season.- 21 replies
