  1. Anything yet? I feel like Albany is shooting for the MAC or another FBS conference down the road. Obviously a massive investment in athletic facilities would go a long way toward realizing that goal.
  2. I think that the Big Atlantic Conference would have been cool with the tagline.....We've Got Your BAC.
  3. Wow....what a finish this is shaping up to be. Question why does Albany play so well against Maine and struggle against crap teams?....lol.
  4. I sincerely hope that Albany and Maine go undefeated the rest of the way until they meet in the final game of the season in Orono. Guessing that game will be a sellout.
  5. Yeah I know that. What is best for the fans doesn't necessarily match up with that is best for the student-athletes and the bottom line. The 6pm start times seem to be an easy fix though.
  6. Honestly 3 or 4pm starts on Thursdays would almost be better than 6pm which messes with people's dinner hours too much. I'd like to see them go back to 7pm. Don't really care when games start on Saturdays....although I really dislike 12 noon start times. I miss the Wednesday - Sat/Sun schedule.
  7. Hopefully I did the title of this thread right. Both teams come in at 5-0 in AE. Hopefully a decent crowd shows up.....the lack on interest on here doesn't fill me with hope.
  8. Dang....are you guys that good? Maine beat Vermont 60-48 yesterday in Orono. I think that your Danes are the team to beat.....Vermont has taken a step back IMO.
  9. It's important for Albany to ask itself a number of questions. You have to start with....what advantages does the CAA give Albany athletically and academically compared to AE. I'm not sure what the answers to that question are....maybe some of you can provide those. Secondly, does the CAA provide Albany with the opportunity to grow the athletic program as a whole? Third.....does the CAA open up new recruiting grounds for students and student-athletes. I would think that for student-athletes....the answer is yes. Not sure that average student is going to apply to Albany because they see them playing the Elon baseball team though. Fourth.....does this make economic sense? This is probably an important one for Albany administrators. Fifth.....would joining the CAA lead to increased attendance, giving and general excitement among the Albany fan and donor base? Sixth....does joining the CAA add prestige with measurable results (more donations, better quality student applications, better recruits, more revenue).....not just the feel good "we're rubbing shoulders with William & Mary at a cocktail party" type of stuff.....I see a lot of that Ivy-lite attitude as it relates to the CAA and recent additions.
  10. Why wouldn't Maine join if afforded the opportunity? They aren't investing $110 million in athletic facilities including football to not ensure the best possible landing spot for them.
  11. I'm copying and pasting what I just posted on the AE forum. Thoughts? I've been too AE centric in my thinking.....assuming Delaware to C-USA and Charleston to A-10......what if the CAA offers Albany, UNH and Maine all-sports membership....as well as High Point? That creates an all-sports CAA that looks like this: *Maine *UNH Northeastern *Albany *Stony Brook Hofstra *Monmouth Drexel *Towson *W&M *Hampton *Elon *NC A&T High Point *Campbell UNCW * Sponsor football This isn't the worst looking conference in the world. Geographically it becomes an evenly disbursed conference which should control travel costs. For instance Maine trades trips to Vermont, UMass-Lowell, Bryant, Binghamton, NJIT and UMBC for trips to Northeastern, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Monmouth & Drexel. Not sure if 22 league games could be scheduled for hoops but considering how difficult it is to get home games for most mid-majors....maybe 11 guaranteed home games (7 H&H vs. division and 4H & 4A vs. other division) would be an attractive scenario. Of course other scheduling scenarios could also be formulated. Football wise it would bring 11 FCS programs together under one umbrella....something the CAA has been pining for....but more importantly gets 10 football members all on the same page in preparation for other changes that will take place down the road. Just spitballing but I don't think that this is totally out of the realm of possibility.
  12. OK....waving thew white flag on this one. I'll walk it back to this.....there are many people disappointed that Delaware will no longer be a part of their conference experience. If America East is aggressive and can bring in at least a group of 3....some combo of Northeastern, Hofstra, Drexel, Monmouth and Towson...then I don't think Albany is going anywhere. If AE does nothing....then I think there is a good shot that Albany will leave for the CAA.
  13. Well you would probably never "hear it".....but the fans certainly echo that sentiment.
  14. The collegiate athletic scene in the Northeast has totally screwed the pooch on developing regional rivalries and allowing their fans reasonable travel to away games. This isn't Ohio State vs. Michigan we are talking about.....this is small time college football....and it has been managed horribly.
  15. Not so much to be Delaware.....but to be their little bro and keep them within arms reach.
