  1. BTW - I believe the concrete the poured yesterday around that wall is for the railings that will go up. Those are going to be pretty good seats actually....especially for people like me with a 1 year old that will in no way sit in a stadium seat.
  2. Yes - the grassy area will be seating. There will actually be concessions out there as well, at least according to the plans.
  3. The players will run down onto the field through the student section. Clemson
  4. Are you talking about the long rectangular boxes? Those are electrical sub panels.
  5. Big weekend - home game against Maine at Bob Ford Field on November 9th!
  6. How about Bob Ford Field at Alan Kaloyeros Stadium?
  7. Honestly - I'd be alright with that. Nothing against President Jones, but I still think they should have just promoted Kaloyeros University President.
  8. There are professors that are athletic fans,...they're just not UAlbany fans. I bet you'd find some hard core Giants, Bills, Jets fans who have never been to a UAlbany footbal game. That might change with the stadium. It gives it legitimacy. This is true for the capital district in general.
  9. And BTW - Buffalo represents the "rest of NY" as much as Cincinnati does.....
  10. I wouldn't mind a move towards directional branding. Buffalo - Western New York University Albany - New York State University (being in the capital and all ) Binghamton - Central New York University Stony Brook - Southern New York University It would be a lot more recognizable outside of the northeast than the city names.
  11. As D96 said, the chainlink is according to plan. The wall would eventually go up as part of the full scale visitors side, like the lower bowl on the home side. I'm sure they'll spruce it up this year with the fence banners. Plus the temporary bleachers will, in all liklihood, be a raised set with the first rows starting above the height of the fence. The turf will go down very quickly.
  12. With JMU out of hte Sun Belt discussion, the conference has turned its discussions to Liberty. http://www.newsadvance.com/sports/liberty_university/article_8cb85a6c-9c0a-11e2-b21a-0019bb30f31a.html Liberty is sure to accept.
  13. It appears that JMU has "Zero interest in the Sun Belt" afterall, but may get an invite to the MAC. https://twitter.com/MarkRSelig/status/318841578011635713
  14. I would suggest everyone send an email to Chancellor Zimpher ('chancellor@suny.edu') seconding Ted's great letter. Copy and paste these two lines and send it along:
  15. A very well written letter. Kudos to Mr. Anderson. I hope Chancelor Zimpher has the same point of view.
  16. Here's what we do know - there is no perfect conference at this point in time for us to be in. There will be pros and cons to any action or inaction taken.
  17. You also don't want to lock your self into a position that is hard to get out of based on hope. Lets open the stadium have some success in CAA football and prepare ourselves for a successful move to a true Mid Major conference.. And what Mid-Major conference would that be? The dying CAA? The Ivy? The Patriot? The MAAC? The NEC? Am I missing any East Coast Mid-Major conferences that Albany might be interested in??? You assume the CAA won't make a move before the AEast does. Historically the CAA has been much more proactive than the AEast ever has. And why does it have to be a Northeast conference? If this realignment has shown us anything, its that regionalization of conferences isn't required anymore. Oh, OK.........so now Albany is headed to a conference outside the Northeast? That should work out well.............. I'm not saying that, but I'm not ruling it out either. The MAC is not a northeastern conference, but throw a couple schools in it (Albany, Stony Brook, Delaware, etc..) and all of sudden its a lot more manageable.
  18. I know that you are excited about your twin basketball bids and a new 8,500 seat stadium..........but what exactly makes you think that Albany is ready for prime-time???? Might want to at least improve your baseball field so you don't have to play in Orono, Maine in late March before you head for the CAA. I'm not saying we're 100% ready but arguably no one is ready for this realignment. Albany would be taking a risk for sure, but no risk no reward. And as far as baseball goes, no one gives two craps about baseball in realignment. Its basketball and football only driving these decisions.

  20. Color details are starting to go up on the tower facade. Also looks like the final prep is being done on the field to start laying the turf. That will be an exciting point because it will really look like a football stadium.
  21. The America East has done absolutely nothing since we've been in it to show any desire to move beyond being a place for small Northeastern publics to put their small-budget DI athletic programs. It has been absolutely great for us to get to the point we are at now. It was the perfect place to start a DI program. If we're happy being just that "a small Northeastern public with a small-budget DI athletic" then hte AEast is perfect. If not, we should be exploring every single option out there right now, including the CAA.
  22. No more lights. The 4 light towers there are state of the art and supposedly rated to handle an HDTV broadcast. SBU's video board is bigger - 20x50......the main video board at BFF will be 21.5x38 The layout is different though as we'll have two additional screens for ads/stats.
