  1. We have two guys that could get drafted although I think they'll both end up as free agents. Drew Smith Jon Morgan The CAA has a few guys that could go in the middle rounds. Here is a list of the Top FCS players done by the Sportsnetwork Offense: http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfoot2/writers/infcshuddle/archive/haley_03_25_2013.htm Defense: http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfoot2/writers/infcshuddle/archive/haley_03_25_2013.htm
  2. They unwrapped it now, but its hard to tell what it is. I'm pretty confident its an HVAC unit of some sort though. They're doing a lot of work on the roof lately.
  3. And the contract is not just students - I believe they also get the concenssions at the stadium and SEFCU. That has to be worth something.
  4. That seems crazy. They have to make more money on the food sales that are outside the contract. I know Chartwells gouged us on fees for catering services.
  5. Saturday, April 27th 3pm kickoff The Football Alumni Assoc. will be holding an informal tailgate (BYO everything) for football alumni at 2pm in SEFCU lot. I'm sure there will be parents and other fans in the lost as well if anyone is looking for something to do. Free football Last football event University field (construction starts soon after on the track facility) Beautiful day to check out the progress on Bob Ford field.
  6. Looks like the goal post foundations are in the field and the rolling is being done to compact the gravel underlayment. I'm hoping the turf is going soon. It will really look great. Can't wait to see it in person this weekend.
  7. It's unlikely to see the upper deck go in anytime soon since the concourse level needs to be clear for the Genie lifts to bring materials up to the press level interior and finish work on the east face of the structure. Can't do that with the bleacher assembly in place. I was thinking that since they put the windows in on the west side of the press level. I woudln't expect to see the upper deck in until the windows go up on the press level.
  8. https://tkt.xosn.com/tickets/TicketHome.dbml?&&DB_OEM_ID=15800&KEY You can see what is available and pick your seats.
  9. I got a personal response from the Albany Law Dean Andrews who defered the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees (Cc'ed on the email) asking them to consider the idea. Who knows - maybe they will consider given the recent downgrade and S&P's clear directive to align itself with a University.
  10. Davidson to the A10 appears to be just about a done deal. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/22072822/a-10-close-to-adding-davidson I thoguht the Socon would get raided and the following would happen: App State to FBS - done Georgia Southern to FBS - done Davidson to A10 - done Furman to CAA Wofford to CAA Elon to CAA The CAA moves are on the horizon, IMO. The SoCon will then take VMI and CCU from the Big South which along with Liberty most likely to go to FBS would kill the Big South football AQ and leave Monmouth again without a home.

  12. Bad enough there are two tiers already in D1. Now there will possibly be another one? In all reality there are really 4 tiers of DI football. FBS I (ACC, B1G, SEC, PAC 100, Big XII) FBS II (MAC, Sun Belt, MWC, AAC, CUSA) FCS I (CAA, Big Sky, SoCon, MVFC, SLC) FCS II (Big South, MEAC, NEC, Ivy, Patriot, SWAC, PFL, OVC) I'm sure I'm missing a conference or two, but you get the point. The prevailing thought process is that FBS I will break even further away from FBS II. FBS II and FCS I will combine (already happening to some extent with the recent moves to the MAC, Sun Belt and CUSA) and FCS II will be left in the same spot they are now. We're positioned well to be part of the 2nd Tier if we expand the stadium in the next 3-5 years. Is the AAC still get a BCS bid this coming year? I believe so. The playoff system doesn't begin until 2014-2015 season.
  13. We'll see what plays out. What we've seen the last 2 years is that anything is possible. By the way - you can pay a sports consultant like Carr Assoc. to conclude to basically whatever you want. If the school wants to move FBS, the study says its better. If the schools doesn't want to move, the study says its not better. I don't put stock in a paid consulting report. And before you jump down my throat - I don't agree with teh Delaware AD that moving from the SoCon to the Sun Belt is not a move up. It is defniitely a move up in terms of exposure, expenditures, etc... It's not necessarily an on-field move up though.
  14. Perfect time to add a law school. Replace one professional school with another. Create a high-technology law center and stay tied to Nano as closely as possible. Even if we lose the title, it would be a bigger travesty to lose the connection.
  15. I just fired off an email to President Jones and the new dean at Albany Law - Penny Andrews. 'pandr@albanylaw.edu' A merger of a long-storied private law school into a public research univeristy is not a new concept. Dickinson Law School merged into Penn State in 2000 and has thrived since.
  16. Got the same canned reply. Note that she refers to each as separate "insitutions". I wrote her back to let her know her dissapointing choice of words was not lost on me.
  17. I agree that if the revenue structure is set up the way the article mentions there will be less FCS to FBS movement than we're seeing right now. That all assumes however, that the real drivers of this are still willing to throw the little guys some "go away" money. The Group of 5 are hanging by a thread onto the real money maker conferences. You're in denial if you think that can last very long. Contracts can always be broken and payouts will always happen.

  19. Delaware AD and Coach met with boosters yesterday. One of them posted this on AGS: .
  20. Additional staff changes announced today. WR - Aaron Smith - WR coach from Boston College TE - Kevin Ross - Son of NFL HC Bobby Ross and former Offensive Coordinator at Army Two great hires. Another sign of our move up in the world of college football. http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=207145561&DB_OEM_ID=15800
  21. The hill is on in the North Endzone - in between the Lax field and the stadium. It stops at the goalline on both sides.
