Lots of credit to Dane96 and the people at the TU for listening to their readers. Both of those are terrific stories and I think the first column on UA in quite a while. Great to have the volleyball story on the day of a game.

Wow....I am not sure my letter precipitated that, but cool! I have to send another email to those fellas!

 

BTW, 8 volleyball rides? That is pretty darn good for 11 players.

If you posted your letter the same day you sent it to the TU, then no, it didn't have an effect on this story (published the next day, meaning the research and writing started at least a day or two days prior).

 

Doesn't mean it can't have an effect, though.

Yes, I'm sure many stories get written, but the letter may have influenced the editor to actually print a couple of them that day.

I doubt many stories are written and not published, though. They aren't a super-big paper that has the manpower to just have people write stories that never see the light of day.
