Manhattan scrimmage

Recommended Posts

From the Manhattan Board"

Heard Manhattan beat Albany 77-67

Manhattan pressed for 40 minutes. My friend told me that Albany did a great job against the pressure! Mulligan was really tough and the 2 frosh were outstanding(Dubois and Andrsen)! Said Manhattan was very physical!

Supposedly Albany had a 7 footer who caused major problems for Manhattan. Supposedly they have really good guards! They were missing two big guy's and missed a ton of FT's.

Manhattan won by 10 but supposedly if Albany made some Ft's they could have beaten the Jaspers. Supposedly both teams looked really good! I don't know much about Albany myself!!

Score was 33-33 at halftime!

Confirms what I heard at the women's exhibition today (won 63-55, Mookie with 19 pts., 19 RBs).

Iati missed a 3 at the buzzer that would have taken the lead at the half. Manhattan made all but 1 or 2 free throws, while Albany missed the front end of 5 or 6 1&1s. Zoellner played most of the game and got 16 rebounds. Jamar also played a lot of minutes.

It's encouraging if they could handle a press even with Z in the game.

One other thing I heard yesterday should please Reeder. Supposedly Dyson played well and made some nice post moves against Manhattan's 7 footer. I guess the Manhattan singled him out for praise to the UA staff.

Just curious because I didn't see anything about it in the Gazetter preview. Will anyone be redshirting this year?

Dane Pound,

Thanks for the info. I do think the team needs Dyson to play well to be competitive in the conference.

Anyway, I was able to work a business trip to Boston on Tuesday and will make the drive on Tuesday afternoon for the game that night.

I've heard nothing on redshirting, but you wonder how much time Bauman will get this year. The irony is that one of the stated reasons that he came to UA was that he thought he could play right away - as I recall his brother went to a D1 school and transferred because of a lack of playing time and he was hoping to avoid that.

Reeder,

Am I missing something...what game on Tuesday? I am in Boston and would like to attend....I am so confused.

BTW, I believe Bauman's brother played at Army. I could be wrong. It's a bit different sitting back at Army than at DI school that you will only be at for four years!

From what I saw from Bauman he seemed like a good player. Well-coached and with a high basketball I.Q.

I would think from scrimmaging against guys like Jordan, Wilson, Johnson and even Brian Lillis that he realizes he has to get stronger to get alot of time playing this level of basketball. You never know, he may play alot this year but he seems like a candidate for a red-shirt.
