Somebody asked me this yesterday so I thought I'd pass it along. What's the difference between the top three teams in the AE and Albany?

Other than Coppenrath my answer would be experience playing together and a seasoned PG.

Vermont is in a class of its own. Northeastern is the hottest team in the league right now and has something to prove leaving for the CAA next season. I could see Barea carrying them far in the AE Tourney.

I would say Albany and Boston U. are pretty similar right now since both of their contests were determined by a combined four points. I would say Boston U. has the edge over us since they beat us twice and have good senior leadership with Bell and Carr.

This year the absence of 03/04 Rookie of the Year Jon Iati and inside scoring - UVM has Coppenrath, BU has Bell and NU has a nice athletic combo of B. Davis and S. James.

For UA Levi and Brent are more perimeter type guys.

Next year with another recruiting class we could be closer to having all the parts

DP experience has alot to do with it , we have (at times) played the top 3 very well.

I think each of the top three teams has something that they are great at.

Vermont has a great inside - outside game. They struggle when either Coppenrath or Sorrentine struggle (BU, Albany, Nevada)

BU has great defense - they struggle when their oppenents get real hot (the Northeastern game)or when the opponents play great D as well (the second Albany game)

Notheastern may not be great , but they have streaky shooters, they pass well and James is a very good interior presence on defense.

I believe that Albany can compete with any of these teams if they play great defense and can make some perimeter shots.

I agree with the point guard comment, but they have not had sufficient production from the post position either.
