You're right! According to Texas Hoop Siggers has signed. From Texashoops.com:

 

A standout student as well as a solid basketball player, Siggers found the combination of books and ball attractive at Albany. The chance of being a part of something special was intriguing as well. "He feels that it's a good fit for him academically as well as basketball-wise," McCool said. "Plus, he's looking forward to playing in the NCAA Tournament - Albany is probably the favorite to win their league next year."

 

Texas Hoops Analysis: Jason is a very good shooter who can really stroke it from behind the 3 point line. He has a strong body, has a bit of a slow release but knows hot to create space and get it off, can hit the pull-up jumper and works on defense.

¢M??|t we've seen that class sounds right. Alum73 might know more but it's interesting that McElroy said it was the program's best recruiting class. Considering last year's class, not to mention the Levi and Jamar class that's saying alot.

This is an interesting quote. Maybe he is referring to the depth of the recruiting. Agree that Levi and Jamar were part of a great class. Wilson and Lillis as well. Not sure that Covington put up great numbers this year. Couldn't find many of his box scores but the ones that I saw weren't great. Connelly put up incredible numbers and Siggers put up good numbers as well.

 

Brown has to find a way to manage the minutes to keep all this kids relatively happy. Having the best recruiting class may hurt you if the kids leave because the current roster has enough talented players to get pretty much all the minutes.

 

Also, if Dyson is gone, Brown needs to find another 5 to replace Zoellner. Maybe a transfer?

I think that calling it the best recruiting class is a way to deflect criticism of no contract extension. Saying this had no affect on recruiting or hiring assistants. I think it's a little premature to evaluate the class.

I picture Covington as a 5 against the conference's smaller centers but that's just guessing. Like you said with Dyson gone there's not alot of depth up front with Zoellner, Wilson, Connelly and Covington. Maybe Levi with some time at forward.

 

Quite an arsenal of guys in the first 3 spots. Iati, Lillis, Jamar, Lou, Levi and Siggers. Alot more guys to press and run without anyone running out of gas.

It seems the only reason there was news about Siggers signing was because his JC coach told someone he'd signed. Other than the institution announcing the LOI I'm not sure how we would find out. Maybe they're waiting for another letter to announce the whole class together?
