UAlbany women won their home opener today, 66-56. The record is now 2-2. Not a bad start for a rebuilding year.

 

The attendance announced at 862 is not a bad turnout, especially considering that a men's game did not follow.

Just got back i n town. This is great news. Crowd was very good too.

Joy Sterling had the first womens double-double this season. She has had double digit rebounds in 3 of the 4 games this season. She really carried the team in the first half today. I really liked the play of Tanya James in the second half as she single-handedly broke the press and was 8 for 8 on the foul line.

Agree with you about James Statefan. She also seemed more willing to drive to the basket than I recall her doing in the past. This team should have three players (Mikus, James and Thrower) who can handle pretty well when Thrower comes back.

 

Some of it probably was the level of competition but they played with more poise than I would have expected from a team this young.
