I thought the event last night was very nice. It was a unique opportunity for fans to mingle with Coach Brown and his entire staff, Dr. McElroy and most if not all his assistants, Mayor Jennings and the three players, Jamar, Levi and Lucious, who were cordiial and went around the room shaking everyone's hand and talking with any and everyone. It probably sounds corny, but I feel great knowing these people are representing my alma mater.

 

There was really no news; although I found it amusing that we had virtually all heard the rumor of a UConn game for next year, and when asked no one would confirm it; then it appears in the morning newspaper. There was some discussion about using the last scholarship and my sense is that it will be used for the right situation; but if that situation does not present itself, it will be saved. The signing period is not until April and it takes some time to sort out whether any major conference school tranfers are available.

 

I really encourage people to attend functions of this type in the future.

State fan pretty much covered it. I was nice to mingle. Also Mayor Jennings gave a proclamation recognizing the Danes as the first SUNY school to clinch a regular season title and post season berth. He also talked about the mayors office supporting the university in the stadium plan.

and Coach told how Levi keeps a huge bag of candy under his chair during games. He said he never knew a player who consumed as much candy during a game as Levi.

Bob87 knew everyone except the Mayor! It was a nice gathering. The students--Levi, Lu and Jamar are really great representatives of our University. It probably wasn't the most fun thing for them; but, it was great fun for the fans and alums.----THANKS!
