As McElroy and the Giants were discussing the possibility of holding future Giants summer camps at UA in the face of building new facilities in East Rutherford, the following quotation was printed in the paper. "More important factor might be UAlbany's planned football stadium, which the school hopes to open by the summer of 2010. The facility's features -- such as new locker rooms and better medical facilities -- might make holding camp at UAlbany a more attractive option."

It seems to me that this project is farther along than we imagine. Your ideas?

What paper was that in? Is there a link?

maybe that means a formal announcement is close at hand???? :D

I doubt this changes anything. I never ever believe that the Times Union has any more information than us. They just don't do enough research or have enough contacts. Maybe McElroy was trying to talk Mara into donating some cash....maybe just a few million bucks.?

The best thing that could happen is if the Giants sign a contact to return contingent upon the stadium being built. That will give some politicians a little kick in the ass.

The Giants are as good as gone. Why in the world would they spend 1 minute in Albany if they have a brand new state of the art facility. They do not need to be away from home they are pros and this is not a HS team that needs to go away. See the Chargers, they have schools in their back yard they could train at but they built a BEAUTIFUL facility(been there it isgorgeous) and they train at home. Asc dfo the Falcons etc.
