Sounds like they gutted out a tough win at Vermont. At 12-2 now and I don't think they can finish lower than second with an outside shot of first. Gotta think Coach Abe is in the COY conversation.

Correct. They have clinched at least 2nd and at least a 12-4 record. Undefeated BU is next at BU on Saturday

Current standings

Boston University 13-0 1.000 20-6 .769

Albany 12-2 .857 18-9 .667

Hartford 8-5 .615 17-10 .621

UMBC 8-5 .615 14-12 .538

New Hampshire 6-7 .462 13-12 .520

Binghamton 6-8 .429 12-15 .444

Maine 3-10 .231 6-20 .231

Vermont 3-11 .214 9-18 .333

Stony Brook 1-12 .077 4-22 .154

Nice! I think that was BU's first home loss. We could have made things much easier by knocking down some late free throws but what fun would that have been. Now we become Hartford Hawk fans.

? Does tomorrows Hartford UMBC game have any tie breaker implications

Don't I root for UMBC there since UA swept UMBC and split w Hartford.

Don't I root for UMBC on Wednesday as well as a win over Bingo

Wouldn't that get UA #1 seed at 14-2 and a tie breaker.

BTW

tie breakers from an article in 2007.

If the is no change in procedures a BU loss at Hartford would be fine, but UA has to beat Bingo for any of the tie brakers to matter.

Ideally I would like to see

1 Albany

2 BU

3 Hartford

4 UMBC

Championship Seeding Tie-Breaking Procedures

Teams tied for first place will be deemed “co-champions.” Ties for chamionship seeding will be broken in the following manner:

a. Ties shall be broken from the top of the standings down.

b. In the event of a tie between two or more teams, the tie shall be broken using the following criteria in order.

c. The record in regular-season Conference play of the tied teams shall be determined against the other team(s) with which it is tied. The team with the highest winning percentage based on the results of their in-season head-to-head competition shall gain the advantage.

d. Record versus other Conference opponents in descending rank order. In the event of arriving at another pair of tied teams when comparing records, each team’s record against the combined tied teams is used rather than the performance against individual tied teams.

e. Conference record in road games. In the event a game was played on a neutral floor, the home team shall be considered to be the team which was originally awarded the home game when the Conference schedule was issued.

f. RPI ranking as determined by the College RPI Report (www.rpiratings.com) through the end of the regular season. The team with the highest ranking shall gain the advantage.

g. If the tie is not resolved, then the tie shall be broken by a coin flip or draw conducted by the Commissioner or his designee.

h. In the event of a tie between more than two teams, once the tie is broken and a team is awarded the highest seed among the tied teams, return to (a.) above.

AE site confirms what we already taked about.

If women beat Bingo, BU needs to win both games to get the #1 seed. A loss by UA would mean BU has to win 1 game to clich the #1 seed.

Not a single seed for the 2012 America East Basketball Championship is set in stone, but that could change after tonight. Albany plays its regular-season finale tonight while the other seven teams in action have two games remaining before the conference tournament.

Boston U. (20-7, 13-1 AE) hosts its second straight game with the opportunity to clinch the number one seed. To do so, the Terriers must defeat visiting UMBC (14-13, 8-6 AE), but also get some help from Albany (19-9, 13-2 AE) where the Great Danes host Binghamton (12-15, 6-8 AE). With a loss by the Great Danes and a win in Boston, the Terriers would claim the regular-season championship and top seed and Albany would settle into the second seed. If either fails to happen, it will all come down to Boston U.'s game at Hartford on Saturday, where the Terriers would need to win to earn the number one seed.

Odd wording. BU can't clinch tonight, not by themselves. They need help from Bing, not from us. If they lose at home tonight and we win, then they beat @Hartford, HU and UMBC are tied, isn't the road record tied, and it goes to RPI? (assuming Hart beats SBU and UMBC beats UVM)
