UAlbany suspends Men's Basketball Activity

Recommended Posts

Roger Wyland announced on WNYT and the Times-Union has published an article (see link below) stating a member of the UAlbany men's basketball group  may have tested positive resulting in suspending all activity involving men's basketball.

My thought: UGH!!!

I watched the 11:00PM WNYT News program; there was a segment concerning a potential significant uptick of COVID-19 on the uptown UAlbany campus.  The segment stated that all student living on the uptown campus must submit a COVID-19 sample for testing by Friday 5:00PM.

My ongoing thought: UGH ...  just when you were looking for some good news... you realize it is better to stay under the rock...and avoid watching the news.

I have added a link to an Albany Times Union article:

An article from today's Albany Times - Union concerning the spike of COVID - 19:

This may be a repeat from the other day.

Oh, oh Siena finally woke to the fact that they cannot play in front of fans:

The linked article does not mentioned Roger Wyland;s comments from Friday evening that Siena is playing in the ARC (to Bob87 sorry for even mentioning the S word)

Just breaking on the Albany Times - Union; all UAlbany sports on hold .... no practices, no team meetings, no nothing; as part of the decision to move to remote learning... What does this mean winter sports? Thoughts and concerns:

Further, the MAAC faces an uncertain future based on an article posted in today's Times - Union:

Anyone thinking there will be a winter season is just dreaming.  Was speaking to my neurology doctor at Mass General last week and they are prepping to shift huge portions of their staff to Covid and flu treatment. The shift is expected in late January and through February.  Massachusetts has done a pretty solid job with Covid,   Boston in particular, so when a top doctor is saying it’s going to be bad...I trust him.

The NCAA saw the writing on the wall, which is likely why they just granted the extra year of eligibility for all winter sports athletes even before the season started.

Who Knows? Could BE Saturday March 20, 2021:  HOME OPENERS football vs RI, Casey Stadium; basketball vs UMBC sat & sun Sefcu Arena;  lacrosse vs sbrook immediately following the conclusion of the football game; volleyball vs new hampshire sat & sun University Gym; track vs Syracuse, Buffalo and Cornell, University Field.  Soccer, Field hockey and whatever else is left opening on the ROAD
