So is there a new name for the SEFCU Arena in its future.....

Recommended Posts

In this morning's Times - Union, there was a none sports story concerning the upcoming SEFCU - CapComFCU merger.  Over the years, the current CEO of SEFCU has been generous to UAlbany due to his relationship as a student and work career related activities.  Fir the first time, a person within CapCom revealed that if merger is completed, which requires approval of the CapCom members approval, the merged credit union will adopt a new name.

While SEFCU is the larger of the two identities and Michael C will be the CEO, is there a need for concern because:

  • CapCom has been a supporter of Siena sports for a significant time
  • If the merger is completed, will the new board of the merged FCU continue and approve the support of UAlbany sports
  • Will the new merged FCU continue to have an interest in the naming rights of our arena

Just questions, which I do not have the answers to.

I know SEFCU has been very generous over the years; but IMHO, for my money, naming rights are naming rights and SEFCU naming rights contract ENDED something like 5-6 years ago. IMHO it should have reverted to the RACC at that time, and remained so until a new naming rights sponsor/contract obtained.
