  1. The last three championship teams all at least one Juco starter. Some of them had two. DJ Evans, Gary Johnson and Jacob Iati all transferred in also (Iati as a walk-on.) We wouldn't have started that string of championships without those guys. I also don't see rating guys as a binary choice. Some guys played roles. Foster wasn't a star but he had a role. Ditto for Costa Anderson. Transfers and Jucos are part of the game. Just look at the football roster this year. Alex James, Juwan Green, Donte Mount and a bunch of other transfers.
  2. CB mentioned that Hansen doesn't have to shoot the other day. I remember during the Niagara game Hansen came out almost instantly after trying a three from the top of the key. He did seem to play in the paint more later in the game. St. Johns might be without second leading scorer Mustapha Heron tonight. He suffered an ankle injury in their last game.
  3. Clark's best game in a UAlbany uniform. 26 pts, 6 rbs, 8 assists, a steal, a block and sacrificing everything to take that charge late in the game. I actually thought that was a really entertaining game. Lots of scoring, both teams shot well and a former Duke player walked off our floor on the losing end. All it really lacked was Red Panda at halftime. We basically only played two guards in that game.
  4. I think we do. Badly I don't really consider Hutcheson a guard so to me, we only have three guards now and they're all playing way too many minutes. I'd like another guy who can handle the ball, spell Clark and maybe let Clark play off the ball more where he can attach.
  5. A feature on Will Amica from the Syracuse station. https://www.localsyr.com/sports/athlete-of-the-week/athlete-of-the-week-will-amica/
  6. I'll be curious to see Shafer. I wasn't super excited when we signed him. Not because I don't like him but because I didn't think he was the kind of player we needed. I saw him more as a wing which I thought he had enough of. I would have like another guard (if that isn't obvious.) Disagree with Click on De Sousa. I thought he played pretty well. He pretty much filled the stat sheet. I'd like him to be more aggressive on the offensive end.
  7. *If you count the Dampots game. A few thoughts so far: -the in-season play hasn't fully met the preseason expectations. -We haven't been able to put the team on the floor that created the preseason expectations. -We need another guard in the rotation in the worst possible way. -Cam Healy can do just about anything but we're asking him to do too much. -Ahmad Clark isn't driving me as crazy as he did last year. That's not to say he doesn't drive me crazy. He has reduced chucking up threes, more or less. If he takes more than 4 or 5, we aren't winning. You can basically chart that stat out. -Healy and Clark are playing way too many minutes. Did I say we need another guard yet? Both seemed worn down at the end of the Yale and Bucknell games. -de Sousa (if healthy) has no idea how could he can be. -Trey Hutcheson is so much better than I thought. I forget he's playing with a splint on his finger. -Lauderdale and Rizzuto have been two of the most mercurial players I remember in a while. World beaters one game, then very little the next. -We need another guard. Did I say that yet? -I still like this team a lot. I'm prepared to endure some slings and arrows over the next couple of weeks until we can bring some guys back.
  8. And Yale played 10. It was a five point game with a couple of minutes left and I thought the guards in particular seemed worn down. It might not have mattered because Yale is good but it didn't help to have five guys in warm-ups on the bench. One positive was we clearly had a game plan to defend their big guy and we seemed to execute it really well. When I watched UVM vs. Yale I thought Brunner was pretty compartable to Anthony Lamb skill-wise. The difference is, Brunner is playing along Atkinson who is dominant inside. Some of our open threes were a result of having to collapse down on him. If I had to rank our guys toughness-wise, I'd start with Hank and Hutcheson easily. Before people totally pile on Rizzuto, I have to point out that he did go 5-7 from 3 and 6-9 from the floor in the American game.
  9. Two AE games tonight - Vermont vs. Cincy and UMBC vs. American. The Vermont - Cincy game is actually the closer one. American was up 25 the last I saw. In their defense, UMBC is out a few guys with injuries.
  10. Sounds like we might not have de Sousa for this game. Michael Kelly says he'll be out with an injury.
  11. There will probably be a big Albany Academy contingent to see Yale's August Mahoney, who is local. He's gotten some decent minutes there as a freshman. We had recruited him for a while.
  12. Trey Hutcheson is among the leaders in blocked shots. Not sure that's what I thought he'd be when we recruited him but it works.
  13. Just a note for people trying to register. I've tried to simplify the registration process so that even Montana State fans can figure it out* If you register with yahoo or other accounts you might get caught in the spam blocker. I empty that out periodically. Otherwise, welcome to the board. *that was a joke.
  14. I heard all the money they made from Eli buying hot chocolate at the game made up the difference and they came out even.
  15. Vermont didn't look like Vermont in that game for whatever reason. A lot more one-on-one stuff than usual.
  16. Yale was founded in 1701 and it seems like Jordan Bruner has been there that whole time.
  17. Wow. Sounds like Yale will be the best team to step on our floor this season.
  18. Actually felt like we turned a corner and took a step forward. CB seems to have found the guys he trusts and the roles they should play. Far fewer ill-considered threes and drives to nowhere than earlier in the season. Like Healy putting the ball on the floor and making plays instead of just hunting for threes. Hutch was 0-4 from the floor but lead the team in assists and blocks. Something good almost always happens when de Sousa gets the ball in the paint. I'd like to see more of that. Excited that our program is at a point where we can be on a three game winning streak, knock off a team picked to finish 3rd in the Patriot league and many of our fans are disappointed.
  19. Can't speak for others but I've been in a food coma. Ahmad is going to have his hands full with Sa'eed Nelson. Actually, everyone is. Four double digit scorers and they're probably better than their record since Nelson was out early this season.
  20. Speaking of athletes. Shout out to Ryan Udvadia (UA track) and Cara Sherman (UA track) for winning the men's and women's division of the Turkey Trot yesterday.
  21. Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Thanksgiving. Don't forget to get good position around the dessert table and remember to box out!
  22. Sorry I touched sore spot. I have been following them and want you guys to do well (mostly.)
  23. That is a shocker because Vermont is the only true mid major in our conference
