  1. I'd forgotten about the Alex James commitment. I feel better about the RB position with him and Mofor. The QB spot is well...we'll see.
  2. Season preview for St. Johns. They have them 9th in the Big East - https://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/17623
  3. In addition to strength, if his outside shooting were more consistent, he'll be really tough to deal with. He scratched the surface of what he can do in the final part of conference play. I think we are tending to overlook what Rizzuto did last year. For a true freshman to come in, miss preseason and most of OOC with an injury, and then put up the numbers he did was pretty fantastic as well.
  4. Most of whatever optimism I have is based around the return of Dev Holmes. Curious about the running back spot. After Mofor, there doesn't seem to be anyone proven.
  5. https://usatodayhss.com/2019/why-camden-hay-switched-lacrosse-commitment-syracuse-to-albany
  6. Kind of strange. Verbal Commits has Jojo Anderson listed as a senior this year. I'm pretty sure Eli has it right and he's a junior.
  7. Yale loses four starters but still makes the preseaon countdown top 144 at 112 - https://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/17617 They bring back Jordan Bruner. It feels like he's been there since Yale opened in 1701. Really like the Yale series and glad to see it continue. Hopefully Iona also.
  8. Newby shot 57% from three at an AAU tournament in July. That's going to get some people's attention.
  9. Men's team member Calistus Anyichie drowned in a park near Ithaca - https://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/public-safety/2019/07/15/bu-basketball-player-identified-drowning/1734450001/
  10. Season preview. Didn't realize they were 1-11 last year. https://saturdayblitz.com/2019/07/10/central-michigan-football-season-preview-prediction-2019/
  11. That's all you're giving us? I'm hoping BC.
  12. Rothstein tweeted that we're at St. Johns this year.
  13. I was mostly being fici...faci...fucic...I was mostly joking. That the Q game is part of a tournament is probably the better news. Easy drive for three games that weekend and we have a shot at winning it.
  14. I'd say Foster filled a role during his season at Albany. He was a defensive presence and he rebounded well. Not everyone is going to be a star and you need someone to fill roles. If we can recruit four years who are stars - Healy, De Sousa - and fill in around them with transfers who excel at a certain role, I'd be happy with that. Miller was a different story to me. When Cremo and Nichols transferred we seemed to be scrambling to fill a ton of scholarships at the end of the recruiting period. I thought he was a quality guy to have in our program for a year.
  15. So, the good news is Oneonta doesn't seem to be on the schedule for next year. However, Potsdam has us listed for a game for Nov 19. Also Quinnipiac released their schedule and we're at their place on Fri, Nov 22.
  16. I'm late to this party but I like the Hansen commit. He's been through the D1 process, knows what to expect and is a proven player. He had some solid games against quality opponents last year - He went for 10 pts and 8 rebounds against Iowa last year on 5-9 shooting. Also gives us a shotblocker.
  17. Some connections to a few of our favorite teams. Looks like he has an offer from Stony Brook. Also, he has a high school teammate playing across town.
  18. https://www.benningtonbanner.com/stories/hoosick-falls-logan-thayne-commits-to-ualbany,577320
  19. Maybe but it seems like the chances are better of Bob87 dancing with the Siena cheer team than CB committing to playing that much zone. Surprised to see people having DeSouza in the PF spot. I thought he was just scratching the surface as a wing last season. I think Lauderdale is a guy who could make a jump next year. He rebounded well for the minutes he had and the combo of him and Lulka on the court together were probably our most offensive bigs.
  20. The SIU situtation sounds a little like the coaching change at Nevada that Joseph Anderson left to come to Albany. For players who have gone through coaching changes, it seems like one of the many things Albany offers is the stability of CB. A lot of times in college basketball we talk about coaches who hop to power conferences but there are some midmajor coaches who have stayed in one place and built reputations for themselves, - guys like Rick Byrd at Belmont, Greg Kampe at Oakland and Bob McKillop at Davidson. CB seems to be entering that conversation is he isn't there already.
  21. I was going to question how good Shafer is when he redshirted as a freshman at SIU. Then I remembered that 2 of our best players last year redhsirted as freshman so I didn't ask that question. He's listed as a shooting guard. Curious if that's where he'll play or if he's more of a small forward.
  22. Our Long Island little brother held on to win their first commissioner's cup following the spring season.
  23. I was actually thinking this spring that this past year was probably one of the worst in recent memory. It's been a while since football, men's basketball and lacrosse all had losing records. There were various reasons for all those things happening and I'm not necessarily blaming Benson.
  24. Has signed with Alaska Anchorage. For a while last year, it was reported that he was going to Albany.
