  1. They fought hard tonight but lost by 10. Nip and tuck until the Orange put a bit of a run together late. They had a tough time negotiating Syracuse's press and turned it over alot and gave up easy buckets. I haven't seen the stats but Schumacher didn't shoot very well tonight. Still a nice effort by the team picked to finish 6th preseason.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I listened to you guys on my way over to the Bucknell game the other night (I was a little late). I'll be listening tonight as well. Keep up the good work. As great as it is to have the RACC renovated it's a shame this game had to be moved to Syracuse. It would have been great to have the Cuse at the RACC. The Danes are up to 128 in the Sagarin ratings while Syracuse is at 104. Syracuse just lost to a lower ranked UMass team so anything is possible. Should be a great game and a win tonight would be absolutely fantastic.
  3. Danes' 2-loss streak is over-TU Pressure 'D' keys UAlbany victory over Army-Troy Record
  4. Took care of busines tonight. Largest margin of victory in Albany's D1 history. Courtney Johnson played alot more than I would have suspected from the first four games. Lillis being out probably is some of the reason but his defense may have been the rest. Not sure if it's a permanent change or not but Wyatt had been in to replace Zoellner. Tonight it was Dyson in off the bench when Zoellner went out. Wyatt got his minutes at the end of the game. Still waiting for Jamar to find his rythm. They were saying on the radio that he had forced it a couple of times and turned it over or picked up charging calls. I remember watching Sorrentine last year when Vermont played Iona. He had similar problems as it was one his first games back. By midseason he looked great and Jamar will too. He was killing them from outside tonight. Looking forward to LIU.
  5. Hopefully Perry finds a situation that suits him better. Good luck to him. Kind of curious about giving away the scholarship next semester. Maybe he's thinking about giving it to Courtney Johnson?
  6. Not to discourage anyone from making the trip but I thought I'd pass this along. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM EST TUESDAY FROM THE MOHAWK VALLEY CAPITAL DISTRICT AND NORTHERN BERKSHIRES SOUTHWARD THROUGH EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND... THE ADVISORY IS DUE PRIMARILY TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN... FREEZING DRIZZLE AND SLEET. THE FREEZING PRECIPITATION WILL CAUSE UNTREATED ROAD SURFACES TO BECOME TREACHEROUS. BEFORE THE FREEZING PRECIPITATION BEGINS... THERE WILL BE A FEW INCHES OF SNOW. THE SNOW WILL BEGIN IN THE WESTERN MOHAWK VALLEY AND THE CATSKILLS LATE THIS MORNING. IT WILL BEGIN IN THE BERKSHIRES AND LITCHFIELD HILLS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. A 1 TO 3 INCH ACCUMULATION IS LIKELY. THE HEAVIEST ACCUMULATION IS LIKELY IN THE CATSKILLS AND WESTERN MOHAWK VALLEY. THE SNOW WILL CHANGE TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN... FREEZING DRIZZLE AND SLEET THIS EVENING. THE PRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF OR END SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT.
  7. Niagara lost to Loyola yesterday on the road. In events that were errily similar to what happend with Levi at Lehigh, Juan Mendez was tossed for getting two Ts. Mendez's action were actually worse. "The Purple Eagles (4-2, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) were sloppy throughout the first half but had cut the deficit to 66-62 with 7:52 remaining in the game. That's when Juan Mendez, who had 20 points and 13 rebounds, picked up his second technical and was done for the night. After Niagara had been whistled for a foul, Mendez grabbed the basketball and banged it off the backboard. The officials conferred and decided to call Mendez for his second and disqualifying technical." It should interesting to see what if anything Niagra does.
  8. No problem Olddostoevsky71. No crime, no punishment. I will get this together later in the week. Anyone else have any award category ideas?
  9. Bucknell isn't very good but the Lady Danes went out and did what they were supposed to-handle an inferior opponent. A 27 point win looks impressive if nothing else. I thought Mikus looked good handling the ball yesterday although she had a terrible shooting day. Gia Sanders really looks like she is going to be a player, very fast in the open court. Thrower got in for a few minutes yesterday. She's very, very quick but was out of control and turned it over a couple of times. Nice effort of defense and it looks like everyone is on the same page in terms of what they are trying to do on both ends of the court. Danes are at 133 in the Sagarin ratings with their only loss coming to No. Arizona who is a top 100 team right now.
  10. There's a nice story in the TU about the Lady Danes and thir great start. Leaping troubles early and winning-TU
  11. That's a GREAT idea Statefan. We can keep this thread open for people to nominate categories and then narrow them down. I'm not sure how they've done it on other boards but it seems like they are pretty much all based on the people who post. We can keep the end of the year awards based on the message board and it's posters. In the spring when all the teams are done with their seasons we'll do a sports-based one (favorite athlete, favorite coach, etc). Hard to do that know when not everyone has completed their seasons. A couple of other ideas for awards: 1. The Road Warrior Award (The most posts about attending away games) 2. The Russian Novel Award (Given to those with the longest posts) 3. Poster of the Year A few awards based on statistics: 1. The Worn keyboard award (Most posts in 2004) 2. The Weaver Award (Most threads started in 2004)
  12. I totally agree Patch, although I though the "T" in the $iena game was pretty ridiculous and from the sounds of it the ones in the Lehigh game were a bit iffy too. I suspect the suspension had as much to do with the supposed hand gestures Levi used to inform the Lehigh students the upcoming foul shots were going to be a one and one. I was really more concerned with the fact that this paints him as a bad kid which he certainly doesn't seem to be. Hopefully we can get past this as quickly as possible if idiots like me don't keep making polls about it. I was just curious how everyone else thought about it because my wife was outraged. She thought it was too much but then again, she did smack a Quinnipiac fan so I should probably question her judgement about these matters.
  13. There generally isn't much info about the women's recruits but Sterling is an exception. Here a site with some tidbits of info about her. Joy Sterling

  15. Danes fall 3-1. Still a very special season this year with alot of promise for the future as well. To consider how far this program has come in four years is amazing.
  16. There's a nice story in today's TU about tonights game. Danes Looking to Net History-TU
  17. FDU had 32 turnovers. That's practically every other possession. Great showing last night as they're off to the best D1 start.
  18. We should cut the ticket office some slack. They've probably been overwhelmed with calls after last Tuesday's win over $iena.
  19. The Troy Record and Times Union stories differ on Levi's first technical. The second was because he threw the ball back to the official too hard. I imagine after you get your first they are looking for a reason to give you your second and they found it. The thing that concerns me about the technicals, that's 3 in four games although the one in the $iena game was ridiculous. There are only a limited number of refs in the area and you worry about Levi getting a reputation with them. While I'm dissapointed with this loss Lehigh was an NCAA tourney team last year and they returned four starters. They've also won 16 straight games at home so I don't think this is as bad a loss as it would have been a terrific win. It's hard to say without seeing the game but Lehigh was very productive in the half court and the Danes in the half court seemed like 5 guys who haven't played together before this season. That should change the longer the season goes on. At this point of the season the frontcourt rotation seems a bit forced and no one can find a rhythm. I'm not sure what he was doing defensively but Dyson made what sounded like a nice move, made the basket and was fouled and then was taken out of the game. I guess the reason not many teams play an 11 man rotation is because it's tough to find balance and it sounded like it last night.

  21. Thanks for giving us the rest of the story. Last year was a tough situation for the freshman and upperclassmen alike with injury and other problems. Todd was certainly thrown into a difficult spot and I was sorry to see him transfer out. Hopefully he's found a situation that suits him better at Troy State and I wish him luck there and beyond.
  22. I found this kind of interesting. I read on the AE Board that Todd Martin has accepted a scholarship to Troy State of the Atlantic Sun Conference next year. I didn't realize that he is actually redshirting this year at a JUCO school in California. I wonder how, after the freshman year he had, he could impress a coach enough to offer him a scholarship by not playing. I really don't mean to bash him, I'm just curious. I thought he could be a decent PF if he added some weight but he was never the wing he was advertised to be.
  23. As we've discussed before, Jamar Wilson's cousin played for Iona. In addition to him there is another current Dane whose relative played at Iona. Can you name him?
  24. Danes would like to snap a streak-TU
