  1. If Jamar and Brent lead in scoring more often the "Fabulous Wilson Twins" thing might catch on.
  2. I recognized Ecker's name in your post but almost forgot where I knew it from. He was a walk-on when Beeten was here wasn't he? Here's his bio from the ASU site Ecker
  3. Admittedly those year-end wrap up shows are wearing off on me. This was tougher to narrow down than I thought. Here they are: 1. Men's lacrosse beats Bing on their home field to win the AE Title and go to the NCAA tourney. 2. Men's hoop beat $iena at the Pepsi. 3. Volleyball beats Maine to win the AE title and a trip to the NCAA tourney. 4. E-Rod sets the NCAA Career Aces Record. 5. Women's Hoop wins their first post-season conference game beating Hartford.
  4. You tell'em Statefan. If they really cared about us they'd serve Guinness like the University of Florida recommends. Here's the PROOF. Of course if they don't change, the Coors Lights have been going down fine too. If anything, I thought the beer in the HOF room would make the crowd rowdier but if anything it's seemed sleepier the past two games. I'm more curious about the intoducing the lineup, national anthem order change. Previously they had the anthem, intro the lineups and then everyone gets in a circle (the players, anyway) and get themselves psyched up. Now they do the intros first, then the psch thing, then the anthem. Why the change? While we're at, I've missed "Purple Haze" this year.
  5. Come on guys, show Soup some compassion. Their attendance is the last remaining vestige of the once proud Siena hoops program. Despite their troubles they still draw well-I guess misery really does love company.
  6. UAlbany can't make final shot against BU-TU
  7. In the postgame Q+A the other night Brown said something like he didn't want a moral victory, he didn't want to come close against BU. Unfortunetly that's what happened. Certainly had chances with 3 shots to cut it to one in the last minute and unable to get a three off at the end. Still another shot at BU coming up and it's not like they have a huge homecourt advantage. BU is like a well-oiled machine with interchangable parts coming off the bench. Well coached and really disiplined. I forgot just how good they are. Brent Wilson was fantastic and I thought Brian Lillis played great defense. In fact, just about everyone was played well enough to win although I wish Zoellner would just try and dunk the ball when he gets it around the hoop instead of trying those little jump shots. If for no other reason tonight than to maybe get some fouls on Gardner and Bell who killed us. I have to say this about Levi. He has been one of my favorite players since he came to Albany. Plays hard and is always a warrior but if I were Brown I would tell him to stay away from the officials and take him out of the game if he doesn't. He protested to the officials several times and I thought he was pretty lucky not to get a tech on him. He did have some questionable calls against him, especially the last one which I thought was on Zoellner, but I think if he keeps going after the zebras they are going to keep finding ways to call things on him.
  8. Danes starting the new year with a bang-TU. Danes ready to move on to Phase II of season-Troy Record
  9. This is pretty cool. Dane is nation's best -TU This from the College Sports Report website: "I-AA Mid-Major Performer of the Year: Geir Gudmundsen, Albany. Offensive linemen rarely get any love when it comes to performer of the year awards, but Gudmundsen is seeing plenty of attention from Sunday League scouts. With him paving the way, the Danes rushed for an average of 254 yards per game."
  10. I agree with you for the most part but post players do rely on their guards to get them ball. It didn't sound like Dyson was playing with good guards last year and Covington may have that same problem this year. Connelly was pretty effecient getting his 37, 15-19 from the field.
  11. A story in Jon Iati's hometown paper sheds a little more light on his shoulder situation. Jon Iati won't shoulder load-York Daily Record
  12. I'm not, although I thought about it. My wife and I will be ringing in the new year on top of a mountain in the Adirondacks. We're leading a trip for the Adirondack Mountain Club. Are you running in any of them? Pretty nice weather for it this year.
  13. Hope everybody has a safe and happy New Year!
  14. I could be wrong but I think they save so many spots for people with the parking pass and then sell the rest. They "should" always have spots for people with parking passes.
  15. Great to see that kind of production out of him. Granted it was against Dartmouth but still a good sign. Seemed like early in the game he was willing to catch the ball too far from the hoop and take a short jumper. Don't know if it was after a timeout or not but there was a stretch in the second half when it looked like he knew he was going to get the ball and worked very hard to get good position. Brent Wilson made some nice passes to him and he either got a layup or fouled. It'd be great to see more of that out of him. Nice balance with the perimiter scorers. Obviously Albany was the better team but I can't recall many shots that looked forced or bad decisions. Watching the game I knew Levi was having a great shooting night but I was surprised to see Jordan had 22. I guess that's why he's the "silent assassin."
  16. Team lost for the first time last night. He had 30 points in the loss and 87 in the three game tourney.
  17. It was clear from Coach Brown's comments after the game that they are very much looking forward to Sunday's game with BU. I thought that may distract them from last nights business with Dartmouth but it didn't. Although Brown did seem frustrated at times that they didn't put them away earlier. BU game should be great. Hopefully everyones hangovers have worn off by then and we get more of a crowd than last night.
  18. Thanks Old Dog. I don't think the experience sauer(krauted) the experience that much for her. I'm sure she will relish the rest of the games this year even when the Danes are behind and have to play catchup.
  19. One end does say "Great Danes" and the other says "Siena Sucks!" Just kidding, the other end says UAlbany. I liked the purple too. I guess they can alway repaint it if they need too. I wonder why they changed it.
  20. A couple of thoughts on things outside the game last night. -Parking. I talked to several people in the HOF room and in the RACC about the parking line. I got there fairly early and it wasn't too bad but I guess it was worse later on. If they could open one end of the lot to just people with parking passes that would work much better and solve some of the congestion problems. Still not as bad as the Pepsi Arena. -Parking Lot entrance for season ticket holders. Very nice idea -The RACC floor and upgrades. Floor looked good to me. Most of the changes were made to the benefit of the people playing on the floor not the people looking at it. Sound system was improved and hopefully we've seen and heard the last of the humming sounds and lights from the scoreboard flashing helter skelter. -I didn't get a chance to look at them last night but they've hung some posters along the walkway around the RACC. Nice idea. -The Hall of Fame Room. I greatly enjoyed the complimentary beverages, thank you very much. My wife still got a hot dog at the concession stand and found they have changed them from last year. She was very disappointed and I may have trouble convincing her to go to the rest of the games this year. -Post game Q+A with Will Brown. Very nice idea although not alot of people took advantage of it. Unfortunetly we had to wait a while until he was done with the media and I think some people left after a while especially considering it was a work night for most people. Brown was affable and very open to questions. I recommend those interested enough to read this board check it out if they do it after every game. Very nice to have access to the coach.
  21. UAlbany cashes in-TU Danes like new floor-Troy Record
  22. Concerned about this tweener game tonight. Two days after facing the 7th ranked team in the country and 3 days before one of the top teams in the conference visits. Hopefully this is not a letdown opponent, especially with the distraction of the Brown-Brennan thing. Dartmouth is pretty big on paper, 6'10 center and a 6'9 pf. Judging from their scores they are a deliberate halfcourt team, alot like Lehigh which gave us some trouble. That said, Pomeroy has Albany as 16 point favorites, ranking went up with Hartford beating Rider last night. New floor should look good on TV, hopefully there's a nice crowd to go along with it.
  23. The story is by subscription only so I can't post the link. Connelly had 37 pts and 8 rebounds last night. I have a feeling these were the kind of numbers Reeder was looking for out of Dyson last year.
  24. Brown clarified his statements in today's TU. Brown says he meant no harm-TU
  25. Mookie also had a double-double, 16 pts and 15 rebounds. My favorite freshman Gia Sanders had a (for now) career high 7 points. Great to see James, Mikus and Sanders chip in with points and take some of the pressure to score off the starters. I see Clark didn't play, is she hurt?
