  1. As am I... I honestly don't know what else to say. I'd feel better if SOMEONE on this team manned up and said we all collectively apologize to our fans, donors etc. A 1-6 team whipped them like rented mules. Can't wait to hear what gg has to say about it, if he's man enough. I mean the guy is blocking fans/donors on Twitter...Wasnt claiming he was. Just stating who was a finalist. KC Keeeler went to Sam Houston, Ryan McCarthy was a finalist who was assistant head coach at the time. Cant remember who else they interviewed. Hate to say it guys but GG aint leaving unless we all want to buy out his contract. We dont have that kind of money as a school. This isnt florida.Agreed - we don't have the money to do a buyout. I just wonder how long he can remain loyal to his friends / coaches. The offensive line (actually, the entire offense) has struggled since the coaching staff started 4 years ago. There was a road game online a year or two ago (maybe Maine?). Their announcer made a point about the transition from coaching in a non scholarship environment (like Duquesne) to a full scholarship environment. To paraphrase, it becomes more about X's and O's and less about getting a few superstar players. For those that don't remember, Duquesne had Leigh Bodden who went on to play about 10 years in the. NFL, they also had Neil Loebig who was a record setting quarterback. When you have that kind of talent in a non scholarship league, the coordinators and position coaching don't have to be great. I think this applies to us as well as Lance Leipold at Buffalo who came from a division 3 power. I'm still optimistic that we can turn things around next year . Just think coach has to make some tough decisions.
  2. Newspaper articles quoted at least one player who said those deep jump balls were planned. They had no defense for it. I do take issue with UA playing it safe all of a sudden when UR kicked the FG to pull within 7. That was some lousy play calling. Why not take another deep ball shot? I agree with the play calling. I felt like the coaches were calling a good came and then had a relapse. Also, Diggs is a special player. Probably the best playmaker we've had in a long time.
  3. It's a loss but there was a lot more diversity to the offense today - jet sweeps, toss sweeps, two backs in the backfield. Sussman passing, Brunson rolling out... That said, the offensive line is just bad. They were bad last week and bad today. Clancy came in to replace Dudzinski but I'd like to think that next year, we'll see Solt, Verdi and the injured Desir starting. I do think Brunson can do the job at QB - I'd just like to see him have more quick passes and work on eluding the rush. On defense, we gave up too many up big plays. Kareem Brown almost had the interception that turned into a touchdown, Josh Wynn couldn't make the tackle against Lauletta and he scores just before halftime, the third down pass on the game tying drive in the 4th quarter... Anyway, bye week coming up then need to win 5 in a row to make the playoffs.
  4. Solomon Simay played a little last week - he's a freshman. Not sure if that burned his redshirt or if he's allowed to play in one game and keep the redshirt. Don't know much about the Richmond defensive line but I hope our Offensive line plays better than last week. I'm optimistic. Even on the road, this is a winnable game if we avoid giving up the big plays and have some decent QB play.
  5. According to the report, there's a three part test - they just had to meet one of the three 1. Are the levels of partipation proportional to enrollment 2. Can the university show a history of expanding programs for the underrepresented group 3. Can the university show that interests and abilities of the underrepresented group have been met. According to the report, all they had to do to support the third poimt was have surveys to support that interests and abilities were met. Benson said he believes that the interests and abilities were being met but there didn't appear to be any data to support that.
  6. The issue isn't Graham, it's a athletics leadership issue. How do you get to the point where you're off by 97 student athletes? You don't even need a proportional number of student athletes - just had to show that you were meeting the demand. Surely there are national or regional title IX conferences or compliance officer meetings where ideas are discussed. I went through most of the other America East and CAA athletic websites and they all have either rowing, swimming or gymnastics that allow the women a chance for increased athletic participation. Someone in athletics administration must have noticed that. It looks like we have a Senior Women's Administrator, a compliance officer, a deputy athletics director... did none of them go to Mark Benson and say there's an issue?
  7. We have a QB commit Jeff Undercuffler http://www.hudl.com/video/3/5390122/58af38b2420fcf17d0fee216
  8. A bit off topic but - I don't know much about lacrosse but it looks like they only have 12.6 scholarships. Thats amazing when you have 45 players on a roster.
  9. Brutus' post was August 2012 - that would have been just before the stadium opened so before they replaced the temporary bleachers. Would link the post but I don't know how.
  10. Took a few minutes to find but this is what Brutus said For further reference: Upper Bowl = 2,056 patrons Lower Bowl = 2,192 patrons Berm Seating = 1,692 patrons East Side Temp Bleachers = Estimated at 2,000 patrons
  11. First, i'll say that i'm not familiar with some of the details but: 1. TN has free community college. The state covers remaining fees after all other options (Pell, scholarships...). They've only had this for a couple of years - i've heard that it's been well received. They're trying to expand it now so it covers not just recent HS grads but older adults as well. 2. I don't see that it'll provide an advantage at SUNY. There are only so many spots available in an incoming class and if they wanted more students, they could just accept more today. What would make a difference is more international and out of state students as they pay higher tuition. 3. From an athletics perspective, it might matter if we were D3 and could recruit instate kids and all they'd have to pay is room and board. But when you're recruiting mostly out of state athletes, i don't see how it'll make a difference. 4. Even if tuition is free, there's still room and board that would need to be paid for so there's still a cost and i'd imagine at a SUNY school, the room and board is probably a lot more than tuition. I'd think that this will still present a barrier for students.
  12. Marisa Jacques reported that Roberson is no longer with the team. "The Great Danes will be without their top receiver from last season, Zee Roberson. According to the school, Roberson is no longer with the program. He missed three games due to injury last season but averaged about 38 yards per game through the air. The Great Danes are adding JUCO transfer Jerrod Diggs at receiver and return Jordan Crockett, CBA grad Austin Ellis and Brad Harris."[/size] That's too bad as he was a definite deep threat. Harris must have got a medical redshirt since he was injured in the second game as I recall. I think Harris was a redshirt Junior last year so he had one year of eligibiity left - even without a medical redshirt.
  13. Marisa Jacques reported that Roberson is no longer with the team. "The Great Danes will be without their top receiver from last season, Zee Roberson. According to the school, Roberson is no longer with the program. He missed three games due to injury last season but averaged about 38 yards per game through the air. The Great Danes are adding JUCO transfer Jerrod Diggs at receiver and return Jordan Crockett, CBA grad Austin Ellis and Brad Harris." Don't like to see players leave the team. IMO, it's more about getting ready for the rest of their lives. They're not going to the NFL, so i'd hope that they'd use football to get an education and get ready for the next phase of their lives. Even if he's still in school - football creates structure that a lot of students need so while there's a lot to balance, there's support to get it all done. I think about Croskey, Gontarek and now Roberson (i'm sure there are others, just can't think of them now) - hope they all finish school. Anyway, i'll get off my soapbox. I was surprised not to see Ibn Foster on the Spring write up; also, Julian Cox was mentioned more as an afterthought.
  14. IMO, Geno Auriemma didn't look at today as a game vs. UAlbany. I'd guess he saw it a preparation for the later rounds. He wanted his team focused and executing until the last whistle. Don't think he was trying to run up the score or discrespect UA - he just wanted his team to play a perfect game regardless of score. Not something that we as UA fans like but that's who he is and part of the reason they're so good.
  15. Will he play QB? I think the announcement says he's a DB. Brunson has an unusual release / hitch as well.
  16. I think the coaching staff did a really good job, especially with Barnard and Damico on the last weekend (i'd guess those were the two commits that were commented on). I know that many of us wanted a QB but the coaching staff talked about OL, LB and size on the DL and i think they did that. We also need to wait to see who signs late, who leaves... Last Spring, they had the LB from Wyoming - Mark S. had an article about how he could make an immediate impact then he disappeared. Also, last year after national signing day, Rodgers, Nick Dillon and Abner Logan signed. A few years ago Jamal Merritt showed up for fall camp... i guess the staff looks at how everyone looks during spring practice and then goes out to fill in gaps. Will be some interesting position battles at OL, DL and LB.
  17. I think there was a quote by coach at the end of the year that Crook was graduating and not coming back. I believe he did a PG year and a redshirt so he would have been a 6th year senior - that's a lot of time in school especially if he's not playing much.
  18. Hope Schuback is still committed - looked like a good player on film. That said, I never understood how his only two offers were Mississippi State and Albany. Barnard has the build of an OLB - but I guess in our defense that might mean DE (similar build to Hoskins).
  19. I was told that Dione Alston didn't return this semester - so possibly down one playmaker.

  21. If that reports salary is accurate, it's more than twice his salary at Albany - earned $60k. No brainier for him and he gets to back to where he played.
  22. I should probably start a new thread for off season news but I heard that we had a running back transfer after last semester. Not sure who it is but heard from someone pretty reliable. Any info?
  23. I saw the last three JMU playoff games and a couple of things struck me: 1. The QB played within himself. A lot of short passes, the few deep ones were away from the defender. In the championship game, he only had about 100 yards passing. And his passes were generally on target. 2. Their corners played tight man / press coverage. They were all over the Sam Houston receivers, they also gave North Dakota headaches. 3. They have athletes everywhere - a lot like an SEC team. Not just the skill players but the linebackers and defensive line as well. Not sure how many of our players would start but I feel pretty good about what we're doing, just need some improved QB play.
