Women's Schedule Released
alum73 replied to WCDBvoiceofUA's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
My take is: Sanders was as good as Mookie was in her sophomore yr, so she's 1 year ahead, which is nice. Clark didn't play enough last year for me to get any idea if she improved or not. Her Freshman year was pretty good. She was hurt a lot of last year and after that, she seemed to be in the dog house. Mikus is a little slow, but OK. Thrower was improving all year. Jen can really shoot, but is also a little slow. We are losing a LOT of rebounds, blocks and scoring up front and unless those redshirts or freshmen are really good, we'll be fortunate to win many games. Hopefully we'll get some frontcourt players every year so we don't lose the whole frontcourt in one season again. -

He was wrong. You are also paranoid. No one "ripped your head off". They just don't share your unbridled optimism. -

Unless I'm reading the schedule wrong, I see 4 double headers 12/20 Women Syracuse Men Binghamton 1/7 Women Hartford Men Maine 2/1 Women Stony Brook Men Stony Brook 2/4 Women BU Men BU -
I notice there a link "printable schedule" on women's BB schedule, but not on men's. I don't understand the inconsistencies. All the schedules should have printable versions.

08/22/05 Dear friends, family, and alumni of UAlbany volleyball: Greetings! I hope this finds each of you doing well. The Great Dane volleyball team has been busy preparing to go after a second America East conference championship and NCAA tournament berth. As we embark on another season, one with tremendous potential, I'll fill you in on what we've been doing and what we have upcoming. We've been in preseason for about two weeks now and are only days away from the season opener at Seton Hall on Friday. Practices have been fast-paced and spirited. Most of the players came in great shape, which shows me that they are wanting even more out of this season. We've spent a lot of time trying to become a better back-court defensive team and blocking team (those that have seen us in the past are probably thinking 'thank god!'). There's no question that we've got a ways to go in both of these areas, but there has been nice strides. I'd like to invite you to come out for the home opener this Sunday against Buffalo. The match will begin at 2:00 and there will be a team reception with free pizza for everyone in attendance afterwards. Also, our home tournament will be something that you won't want to miss. Friday, Sept. 9th we play Penn, who has won 3 of 4 Ivy League championships at 7:00 pm, and on Saturday the 10th, we play defending MAAC champs Iona at 11:00 am, and then defending MAC champions, Ohio at 4:00 pm. Ohio finished last season in the Top-25 in the national RPI ratings and will be the highest rated team we've ever brought in to the PE Gym. This match will be part of a double-hitter as the football team has their home opener at 6:00. For your convenience, a complete schedule is attached to the bottom of this e-mail. This promises to be a great year for the Great Dane athletic programs, as we are all trying to defend the conference Commissioner's Cup! Hopefully we'll see you at a lot of volleyball matches this year as well as supporting all of the UAlbany teams. Go Danes!!! Kelly Sheffield Head Volleyball Coach

Maybe it's just because I'm so old, but does anyone else have a problem reading the topics within the purple background? I basically have to open the topic to see what it is. I read them all, so I guess it's not critical. I think the type would be easier to read against a gold background,

Now it's time to get the Roster updated on the web site.

I think everyone is on campus and taking courses already, except for K-Zo and he's starting Grad school. The schedule might not be finalized. The roster should be.

Earned the right to do what? I like to think Dane fans have more class than that. I don't want our fans to become the fans we couldn't stomach for the previous few years.

GDG, Let's not act too Siena-like.

I think a one year extension increases the pressure on the coach. If we're not successful enough for the AD, he's out. I was hoping for a longer deal now.

It was on Channel 6 news last night @ 6 pm. They didn't name an opponent, just said they were one of 64 mid majors selected and might bew broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN full court.

McElroy mentioned that we were in talks with Maine, U Mass, Rhode Island, etc. about leagues, but with not having a boss (President), we could not really pursue it very far. Now that Hal is on board, work in that area will resume.
