1. Not to beat this topic to death but a question about the tickets through the Univeristy. Was it ever written anywhere that they were starting with the longest tenured season ticket holders?

Just wanted to know if that was a stated policy or a guess on the part of season ticket holders.

    13094

I think you've nailed it. There was/is no policy, so people (myself included) were assuming, guessing and formulating how it should/would be done.

  2. You are correct and they were overwhelmed. And I know I've been a bit upset, but don't believe for a minute I would put full or even the bulk of blame on the one man ticket office. He is most likely taking it on the chin from both sides. He is not making the rules just playing along like the rest of us.

  3. I didn't hear anything, but I left work a little while ago, because going on the theory that there wouldn't be enough tickets anyway, I ordered some from razorgator.com and they were being delivered at my house.

I overpaid (not as much as some sites, though), but they just got delivered. Some of the people I thought would be going can't make it. They're pairs of $60 seats in sections 205, 206, 217, and 218. Wachovia seating chart.  All I'll ask is $75 to cover the Fedex and processing charges, I'll eat the rest.

Contact by PM since I can't get my home email when I get back to work.

    13032

I've tried to PM you but I think my firewall is stopping it from working (according to the computer expert).

Can you meet me in the Live Chat room?

  4. Brief e-mail to Rob Totaro in the ticket office that I have sent this morning.

Is there going to be any communication to season ticket holders? In case the Administration is unaware there is some real resentment that we have read in the paper that the tickets are gone.

  5. Statefan,

Your credentials far outway mine, but I think my anger is approaching yours.

The University calls me pretty consistantly when looking for $. The e-mail me when they are looking for $. I reply on an annual basis with an appropriate amount. I inquired about tickets early on. They had no answer.

I've had a couple people in my office already asking if I got the tickets after seeing it in the paper.

I do not have my head in the sand and understand the big donor thing. The lack of communication is unbelievable. This has cut down on my options (maybe buying all three sessions and selling one etc). And as I stated earlier, other programs have a point system (see Gonzaga or Miami in the past by searching on Yahoo). Let me know how these tickets were given out.

It's awful quite on this board from a lot of season ticket holders. Did any of you get tickets? How was it communicated?

  6. "Rember that even at the major Bowl Games there is a scarcity of tickets when purchased through the participating academic institutions. Is the system fair? NO - but it is what it is."

Sarge, I respectfully disagree, somewhat. Other schools at least seem to have a system based on length of time you've held season tickets, $'s donated etc. It's a system. Fair? Who knows but it is a system.

Knowing the AD or being a campus dignitery (that has no interest in the program until they make the tourney) should have no impact on ticket allocation.

I am also a bit miffed that there has been no communication on the UA website, no e-mail (bulk or personal), or phone calls made to season ticket holders to explain the situation.

Mishandling, or percieved mishandling, of this situation can be a real problem for long time supporters of the program.

  7. Me too.

Been a season ticket holder of 4 seats for at least 7, and I think its 8 years. Small time donor, but a donor none the less.

I'm not sure how many people should be in front of me on that list.

I'd be very dissappointed and interested to hear just how they were doled out.

I hope this just means we haven't been contacted yet but here is the wording from the article.

Tickets aren't available to the general public for the University at Albany's game on Friday against Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center.

UAlbany athletic ticket manager Rob Totaro said all 550 tickets allotted to the school have been reserved for UAlbany players and coaches, students, campus dignitaries, athletic donors, corporate sponsors and season-ticket holders.

The 100 student tickets sold out in 25 minutes this afternoon.

    Tickets cost $60 each.

  8. Anyone have travel plans yet. Or the plans on hold until tickets. I will be heading down sometime Thursday and stay at Holiday Inn midtown regardless of whether I get tickets or not. Hopefully I will. It will be a lot less stressful not having to scalp a ticket for our session. I will try to scalp for the afternoon session or watch on TV.

    12996

As it stands myself, JonUA97 and potentially a few other alum will be travelling from Long Island to Philly sometime Friday during the day, to be there with plenty of time to spare to hopefully celebrate St. Patty's Day as well as get ready for the historic first upset of a #1 seed by a #16 seed (or atleast that is what I was dreaming about last night!!!!)

    12997

Waiting on ticket info. Have reserved one room so far. A couple of friends from DC are joining us but we are holding of on final plans until we know the ticket situation.

  9. MCFan,

    No offense taken.

Thanks for the info on your team. It really depends on what Uconn team shows up that day. If the team that beat Nova the second time around and moped the floor with Cuse 2X shows up it will be a tough day for your guys. But as a fan of this team I have seen a real tendency to play to their competition way too much. Do we have the talent to win the whole damn thing? I think so, but I question the mental side of it. Hopefully the early round exit to a big time rival in our conf tourny will wake these boys up.

    12982

A few holdovers from the team I watched allow UVM to hang around two years ago in Buffalo for the first half. (Before anyone gets upset, I'm not comparing us to UVM, although we gave that team a good run at home last year).

Unfortunate story, was rolling full soda cans down the hall at my hotel around 3:00AM (no games the next day) just because it looked like a bowling alley. Next day heading down for lunch here comes Coach Calhoun. He was in the room next door. No words so we either didn't bother him or he didn't care. And honestly, if I knew he was there I wouldn't have done it.

  10. "does a good job on defense."

Um ... no.  I live in the Albany area and have seen the Danes play several times:  Kirsten Zoellner will be severely overmatched at this level.  Both Boone & Armstrong are much much quicker; and the reserves are quality.  If Williams gets in the lane ... you are going to see Dunks.  Lots.

Again, Wilson/Stiggers/Jordan etc ... have got to keep ball pressure on MW or he has to make foolish fouls.  Other than that is questionable.  And, don't bring either Coppenrath or Klimes or other UVM defenders into the discussion: UConn burnt them.  And Syracuse couldn't.

    12976

I've seen every home game and watched a few away on TV. In the AE he does a good, not great, not fantastic, not the greatest I've ever see, but a good job on D. Two of UA's conference losses were against UNH. The beat Albany by shooting well from the outside including a 6'8" forward.

Read my statement "Your bigs are going to be too athletic". Now yours "overmatched at this level". See the similarity.

I think its quite clear that there will be a minimum of 4 mismatches on the court at the start of the game and most likely 5 ( I really think a lot of Jamar's game). That is why they are a #1 seed and UA is a #16.

I've posted elsewhere that I think this is possibly the worst matchup UA could have faced. Could we beat Duke, Memphis, or Villanove? No. Do I think UA could play them a little close and maybe show some of the talent? Yes.

  11. Reading into it that he knew about it.

Your right done w/ the BS. It was meant to be funny.

    No secrets on our squad.

    My opinion:

Your bigs are going to be too athletic. We have a 7'1" 270lb center who is limited offensively. Does a good job on D and has for the second half of the season limited his foul trouble.

A 6'8" forward that is our second leading scorer. Solid shooter of the 3, and has really developed a nice mid-range game.

Our gaurds are great in the America East. Depth is also a strength in the AE. That said the talent level at the Big East is a little different.

I am a big fan of Jamar Wilson and think he could play at a much higher D1 program. Your shot blockers (all of them) could present a finishing problem for Jamar. If he had a finishing big man I think he could hurt you a bit.

In the end, I see this as Albany needing to knock down about 18-25 threes for this to be a game for long.

Looking forward to a good time in Philly either way.

    No hard feelings.

  12. I was thinking of setting up some unprotected laptops in the hotel their staying at.

That should entice two or three starters to commit a felony.

Students should rig up a fishing pole with laptops dangling from them.  Most likely been done before but still effective.

    12951

Interesting. And who would the other starters be? Seems you dont know alot about our program based on that false statement.

    12959

    From the New Haven Register

"Williams, 19, of Compton, Calif., filed an application last week to enter the state’s accelerated rehabilitation program, which is a special form of probation available to first-time offenders that would eliminate any charges on Williams’ record should he avoid trouble for up to two years."

"But when police recovered cell phone text messages between Price and teammate Hilton Armstrong that indicated his involvement, Price admitted to police that he knew about the laptops — two of which were found underneath his bed when a search warrant was executed."

    These guys are starters right?

Easy, it was a joke. Get it.

Answer why one player is still on the team and another isn't? Is one maybe a better player?

If it's not politically correct for you, just don't allow criminals back on the team. No problem

  15. UA box office is currently putting season ticket holders name on a list.  Season Ticket holders can receive up to 2 tickets for the tournament if there are tickets available.  will be in contact at the end of the day or early Tuesday

    12943

If you know, does 2 tickets mean, 2 for each person?

  16. I agree.

A big athletic front line. As tough as it gets.

The only thing worse would be Duke. I say that not for matchup reasons but because they always blow out their first round opponent. Two years ago UVM hung with UConn for a little more than a half in Buffalo

  17. Any inside info or rumors as to how the University's tickets will be given out?

    12886

Probably to longstanding season ticket holders and BIG TIME donors. Hence, most of us (including myself) probably do not qualify. But, to build the program these are the necessary problems that arise.

No matter what, we should be proud of the team, coaches, and the way the school has handled themselves in putting on a FANTASTIC show the last two weeks.

    12887

7 or 8 year ticket holder. Small time donor.

I hope some weight is put on the tenure of season tickets.
